  • does anybody know the song they used to play as encore where they leave the stage on by one and left the piano player last?

  • @tendra84 yea the song was called soulful, i remember they played that also as an encore at the catalina jazz club in hollywood, the pianist kept playing that sick bass line until he was the last one on stage, i don't think they recorded it yet but there is a live version of it on youtube

  • does anybody the song they used to play as an encore where the player leave the stage one by one and left the piano player last? help me..

  • @tendra84 @tendra84 Look at our video (I cannot post a URL for it on this comment thread) "Roy Hargrove Quintet Performs 'Soulful'"

I think this might be the song you are thinking of, though last time I saw him, they ended with Ameen Saleem on bass instead of the piano.

  • does anyone know if there is a full length video of this version of Strasbourg/St. Denis?

    so dope

  • Coming soon on DVD!!

  • Pretty song.

  • Roy did a Jam session at Sweet Rhythm in NYC last Thurs. I enjoyed it very much

  • don't know him until yet and I'm very sad about this.... are there more interprets who sounds like this?

  • You might want to check out Nicholas Payton for trumpet or Donald Harrison for sax, but noone is as cool and smooth and versatile as Roy is... I just love his sound whatever type of music he plays...

  • He is definitely one of my heros.

  • Saw Roy and his quintet perform this spring at Fairfield University. Best show I've ever been to. Can't stop listening to this album

  • awesome!

  • awesome!

  • a masterpiece!!

  • This is the cut he played to close out the Detroit JazzFest. If it hadn't been outdoors he'd have blown the roof off the place! Awesome. Love me some Roy Hargrove.

    -ep

  • this is one of the most incredible jazz bands ever created. been lucky enough to see them twice. best decisions of my life.

  • wow this sounds nice. thought i was done buying cd's when i found youtube.

  • Hargrove is a genetic freak of nature that only comes around once in a googleplex.

  • you make him sound like a bodybuilder(genetic freak) somebody said the same about Flex Wheeler!

  • i havent been this excited about an album for a long time- its a blessng, def gonna catch a show when he's in London in November

  • Yeah, this is by far his best album. It's too bad that the majority don't realize how much passion and hard work it takes to make music like this. This is why I very seldom listen to smooth jazz, hip hop, and R&B anymore.

  • do you consider those genres inferior?

  • still...don't you see how he takes those other genres that are, per say, MORE popular than jazz and melds them all into his music? He is using jazz to bring it all together and get everyone involved with it!

  • I got that album. It's his best ever. Doubt he'll ever be able to top it either, lol! Then again, Roy's at that point in his career where music like this just might end up coming out in a steady stream of creatively inspired releases...

  • brilliant, love this song

  • LOVIN ROY!!! Can't Wait for the Album!!
