The reason his father is dead in the movie is becuase it is based on a true event and his dad wrote the book to share his sons story so they make it a little more different they just bend the truth a little and tyler dosn't have an older brother name Ben it is all just extra to lead it to our hearts and pray for his family and friends.

I love Letter to God! It gave me chills !!!! Truly sad!!!! :,( ( I actully started to write Letters to God) :) I made a peom to read in front of my class too. It going like this :

There was a boy name Tyler

Who was such a HUGE smiler

He was only eight

But he was still really GREAT

He had Brain Cancer

And sadly no one had the answer

He loved to play soccer

But no one could save him.. not even the doctor.

Very sad movie I wish to meet Tyler one day :) R.I.P God's little messenger (KindKidAtHeart)

This is similar to my brothers story. He was only 8 when passed of brain cancer and I have a journal of his where he thanks God for things in his life. It keeps me believing I'll see him again someday.

This is really sad...I knew him! I went to elementary school with Tyler. It was soo sad when he passed. We tried our best to help him when he had cancer, the school raised money and everything, but sadly he didnt make it... Enjoy your life! You never know when its time to go.

This story of Tyler's courageous battle with cancer and the faith that he held onto has rebuilt my faith with God. It's angels like tyler that inspire all of us to have hope and to believe. Tyler is a true hero.

im wondering where I can get more information on the foundation that the movie talked about. they showed letters by other children with terminal diseases and I havent been able to find a direct link to the foundation other than knowing it is supported by the Give Kids the World Foundation. Any idea where I can get a direct link to the letters to god foundation. I have bene googling awhile.
