Holy cow, that's amazing you invented a new technology! A CD with magnets glued on it! How did no one ever think of that? The implications are overwhelming! You deserve a Nobel prize!
Would be a good idea to apply this technique to elevators. In addition to using the emergency breaks that already exists, why not also use magnets and electricity? By putting them on each rail, and activating them and/or graduating their intensity with electric power so the elevator can go up and down. About the emergency breaks, well I think by increasing its intensity when falling so the elevator stop its way. I'm just assuming that something similar may be applied for additional security.
@sk8jak if the emergency breaks break, the magnets can do their work there, and since software is something almost completely reliable and useful, then why not do a software that detect and activates magnets through electricity so the elevator stops? The software may probably exists already.
@sk8jak magnets are emergency breaks....have you ever dropped a magnet through a pipe which has copper wire around it? the magnet will induct electricity inside the wire, thus losing kinetic energy and slowing down.
@sk8jak I don't know why you should use this technique that needs energy instead of the existing technique that does not need energy (simple block and tackle)
@Cakeasaurus01 very good question, sir. And you know what? No one knows ! Maybe, like gravity, they curve the space-time continuum. And then again, maybe they don't.
@allexcosta How about when the magnets that were repelling each other decided to attract! That was pretty interesting, bet you didnt know they could do that!
@atomikus37 some cars do use magnetic suspension, German manufacturers have been using them for the "adjustable" systems for a while, BMW, Mercedes and Audi are probably the most prevalent "magnetic suspension" users. search for "Corvette C5 Magnetic Suspension"

It's a pretty good idea to have superstrong magnets close to your digital camcorder. The electrical parts within your camcorder LOVE superstrong magnets :D
@TheFireEngineGuy The newer technology doesnt even care about the magnets anymore. We did a test at school with a old cellphone. We but 2 neodinium magnets on the pack of it and one on the top. We rubbed them on the cellphone back and forth and kept it like that for a week Rubbed it every day. No problem still worked. And actually it wast an old celpphone it was our teachers touchscreen that she didnt want enymore because she had a newer one. So the magnets dont do alot of damage.
@TheFireEngineGuy I used to work with a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance machine (NMR) with a 18 Tesla superconducting magnet. It had its own room for safety reason because the magnet was so strong. It was over 4 times stronger than any MRI machine's magnet. I took my digital camera in there several times within a few feet of the machine and it never did anything to the camera. This guy's camera is fine...
@mar504 I could certainly feel the magnet tugging on the camera. It was a supercooled magnet so it was always on. Turning it off and back on again is a very involved process that takes days.
@Plur307 You could FEEL it? Wow dude, that is incredibly dangerous... not to mention if the machine took the camera the only way to get it off would be to turn off the machine.
do snap 2 of those together in your hand i have some and my friend tore of the skin of his thumb because that sharer than the shards go in your skin and than attract back together under your skin
@JoelTebo can u retype that so, that i can understand it? xD I wanna see a magnet so strong and same time so small, that it penetrates human skin whit magnet force. Your friend must be soft skinned xD
How about gyroscopically stabilized magnets (like the "Levitron" toys?) 1) Look at a video of the "Levitron" toy. 2) Imagine a Copper Coil "around" the spinning/hovering magnet. Or in other words, imagine the spinning magnet "inside" a Copper Coil. 3) What if we could "control" the speed of the spinning magnet without physical contact? 4) Could we harness useable electricity? - I have thought about this for some time now. I love the IDEA of it because there is no "friction" anywhere :)
you know you didn't need to superglue... could've put opposite poles on each side of the cd and they should've held together due to their own magnetic force...
@atomikus37 I thought of that, but then I realized if there's any metal on the road you be in some trouble. Especially with the strength of a magnet it would take to hold up a car...
he's kinda an idiot. he didn't have to superglue the magnets to the cds. he could have just used 2x the magnets and removed them when his little experiment was over. have magnets on either side of the cd
@PDubbS5 Well actually u are the idiot. If he puts magnets on the other side of the upper cd , they would have been attached to the bottom cd's magnets c.....
there aint 431 magnet there at most 16 on those discs could this method be applied to a skate rink and boards???? whre u get magnets from and how much?
I understand that the cd levitated bcz of like poles being placed opposite to each other. Bt if the magnetic field bends enough it attacts? i expected a propulsion upon release of the the cd on top. explain plz.
ok. i understand that the cd levitated as a result of like poles. but the magnetic fields bending jst enough for them 2 attract? i dont get it. i expected a build up in P.E. that wd hv propelled the cd on top upwards . plz explain this to me. Did some form of induced induction occur?
