Since I made this video, Scrubita and her mate have had built a nest and hatched a family in our Oleander bush. Only one jay survived, but he has since grown up to be a beautiful scrubjay. Mom and Dad Jay built their next only a few yards away from where I feed them peanuts. I guess they feel safe here. They were first time parents, maybe their inexperience explains why only one baby survived. They will do better next time.
Yeah, that is common for new Scrubs to loose there first lot or most of them, normally by bad placement of the nest. Thats how Blue was rescued. He fell when Crows came and the parents abandoned him. But the next year they were much smarter and all the chicks survived.
That one bird was well reared I am sure. Thanks for your videos etc.
Thanks, Kitty. More to come, I hope. I do wish I could do something about the background traffic noise I am picking up, but the freeway is close and traffic noise is what we live with here. I don't notice it normally, it's like white noise to me, but it sure did record on the video.
