  • First time I've watched one of your reviews. Very well done. Thanks for the review.

  • My g

  • In and out of the kydex over a hundred times now, still no wear on the finish. Bizarre.

  • I loved my M&P 9c! Never had a problem with it. The thing happily ate whatever I fed it. Living in Florida though I ended up ditching it for a Kahr since it's primary role was carry piece and I found it was just a little too large to conceal with my usual clothing. Of course 6 months after I ditch it they repeal the printing law and I could have carried it legally just fine.

  • I watch all the gun reviews and I must say sir you do the best job of all the others . Very informative . An absolute pleasure.

  • I got the pistol. I put around 250 rounds through it today. I noticed "wear" happening immediately, from my kydex comptac holster. After getting the pistol home, and feeling a bit bummed about it being so weak, I cleaned the gun. After a bit of frog lube, and wiping it down...I noticed that the wear was only the kydex from the holster rubbing off on the pistol. It is 100% after getting scrubbed down. The finish seems pretty resistant to harsh wear. It has been in out of the iwb over 50 times.

  • Excellent video. I'm extremely impressed with professional delivery of this review.

  • Bought mine used with about 500 rounds threw it. The finish has no visible wear and the gun rocks, no problems after 200 rounds. The sights work very well especially for me with my not so young eyes. Anyway, I can say is I am very pleased with this weapon.

  • As always, fantastic and well voiced review. I would like to see more talk about the pistols accuracy, even it is mildly subjective, as you already reviewed the standard M&P. I carry a compact in 9mm every day. My girlfriend bought me a VTAC in 9mm as a valentines day gift, and let me tell you, I have never been more excited about Valentines day coming up fast! She will get the compact, and I will start carrying the full size VTAC.

  • I'd like to see this in 45acp.

  • I just picked up one of these this weekend, loved the feel of it, the color and the sights. at 130 rounds the front fiber optic had fallen out and the rear sight had become very loose I stopped at that . The slide closes when inserting a new mag, and the brass still showers my face/right side. To me that is terrible QC, why would they ship a firearm with a dovetail sight that will not stay in place without a setscrew? it did shoot well but wish I would have bought the gun I went there to buy.

  • Can I get a Subscriber from someone?

  • i dont know about those sights....truGLO has their TFO line ( tritium fiber optic ) and its all in one. had them on my kimber and they worked great.

  • Switch too the m and p if ya want, but you dont have to break in the glocks! Glocks will still be shooting when this smith is in the pawn shop!

  • Does your M&P release the slide when you insert a loaded mag without pressing the slide stop? My M&P 40 does it. I've read it has to do with the amount of coverage that the slide stop has on the slide? If its a design flaw, I kinda like it because it eliminates one extra step to do! But I was just wondering if they all did that. Thanks

  • @volksjager8 My Pro Series 9 does that, but my 45 and 9C do not.

  • You really have a talent for making unbiased educational and entertaining videos. My only issue is that I'm backed up on about 10 or 15 MAC videos in my Watch Later list. Keep up the fantastic work.

  • @vjb1293 Thanks, I appreciate it and thanks for watching.

  • @vjb1293

I agree 100% and was about to post the same comment.

    ...New Subscriber. ;-)

  • If it has Kyle Lambs name on it (VTAC) I'd assume its all top quality and very real world funtional

  • good review thanks!!

  • I've always loved the m&p but this vtac looks so much better, I love that finish and the sights

  • Some people have had issues with the sights drifting and the front fiber optic flying out, you have anything like that happening?

  • @TheTactical6string I dont know if anyone got back to you on that issue but yes my m&p is doing that i found out that the front sight is .240 and it should be about .253 so im sure a big batch of sights went threw being under sized. To bad i got one with the bad sights im talking to smith and wesson about this but i have a new pair of trijicon night sights on the way anyway. Any questions feel free to ask.

  • @BekkerOnGunsNHunting Thanks. Theres not many guns out there that Im lusting after but this is one of them. Its a shame this issue exists with it. Im sure over time it'll get resolved. I guess I could alway just Duracoat a regular one.

  • I won't be too upset about the wear when pick mine up. I love to shoot my guns and look at the scuffs and marks as badges of honor. I love the coloring of this gun but if it gets too bad I'll send it out for a Duracoat job. That stuff is pretty durable from what I heard

  • I couldn't help to notice you wearing much of the brass while you were shooting. Reminds me of my flawed Glock 19 Gen.4. Try RWS 124gr. FMJ from Switzerland. I LOVE this ammo even more than what I reload! Let me know what you think. Cheers !

  • The one my range has is VERY gold; can't get over that. Very 'gangsta' than military/police to me. Not sure of the point of the VTAC sights; my M&P 9c wears TFOs that work perfectly fine at all times without the needed for a second set of tubes or the extra height.

  • @545Krinkify Right now it appears they only sell them for the M&P pistols. Perhaps they will offer them for other pistols down the road.

  • Atleast you got the one with a actual dark earth finish ... Buddy of mine got his and it looks gold

  • Is there a point of impact difference between the fiber optic, and tritium sights? Or is the difference not big enough to notice?

  • anyone know what will produce the lowest decibals between a pistol, shotgun, and rifle?

  • i love m&ps but nothing beats a glock's finish..really durable especially the EXO finish,xd's finishes also are poor.

  • i have heard the M&P and SD have some pretty harsh long triggers, though those sources are kinda iffy, whats your take on the trigger? better or worse then a stock glock trigger?

  • I wish my M&P was in this finish !

  • Great Review....I have not been a major fan of the M&P....but I have shot a 5906 quite a few times...they are very good guns...Heavy but good...

    Thanks again...E1

  • Your reviews are getting better! Keep it up man! :)

  • What is the brushed silver gun on the right??

  • I bought this pistol today. After firing the gun and doing some draws from my kydex holster it had black scrapes down the slide. After getting home and cleaning it I noticed not slide marks at all. It seems that the scrapes were just scuffs from the kydex. I think the finish should hold up.

  • How is the trigger?

  • 5906 FTW! lol

  • Thanks for the review, I'm now considering these sights on a regular M&P. Randomly related question: You mentioned you conceal carry your Glock 19, have you already done a video that goes over your choice of holster and defensive ammo? If you have I'm sure I can find it.

  • Scratch that question already found the video!

  • I would love to see aftermarket versions of these sights for Glock so I can toss them on my 26.

  • I owned a Sigma about a year after they were introduced.... It was THE most HORRIBLE pistol I have ever owned!!!

I broomed that thing within a year and never looked back!

I'll stick with my Glocks, thank you....

  • Do you feel as though the VTAC sights are high enough to be used with a silencer?

  • great reveiw. love the finish on the weapon but I dont want anything i'll have to baby around. B-

  • The walther ppq, is this gun a gun you might consider replaceing glock 19

  • the pistol looks like a debris catcher to me. you can see sunlight through the side of the slide with a big gap. there were also big openings/gaps at the rear of the slide also making for an unclean appearance and not well thought out. combine those issues with it not being reliable out of the box which says to me machining inconsistencies and uneven wear it does not inspire confidence. perhaps it comes out of a different factory than tour other pistol.

  • Nice ride! I drive a 2011 JK. 6speed and hard top. Love it!

  • @Babyglockster27 I'm thinking about a JK... but I'll never get rid of my 2000 TJ. It's a tank, is all decked out with lockers, Rubicon lift, 12,000lbs winch, etc. She gets around in the worst of conditions. :) But a daily driver JK is something I've been kicking around this year with the horse power jump.

  • @Sturmgewehre bussiness assoc. of mine just got the Black ops and had custom hemi put in got it monday. weee 500+HP

  • @altops

I have seen the Black Ops versions. Love the rims etc. Not sure about the price tag though !

  • @Babyglockster27 Well this guy that bought his with the Hemi earns millions a year.... so price, whats that- to him.?

  • @Sturmgewehre

Wow, you have a nice rig. Mine is total stock, bicycle tires and all. But, she drives like a champ and is wicked fun! Have been through my hunting zones in farm fields etc without problem. No major mudding, but enough to get me in and out of the woods without getting stuck. Love the 4 door length with the seats down. just enough room to fit the deer inside. Thinking about a luggage rack on the outside for a future kayak. Jeep Wranglers rule!

  • @Babyglockster27 you masturbate to this shit

  • VTAC JUST KICKED IN YO.

  • Is the slide slightly bowed or is it a camera trick?

  • What is the finish?

  • If you like those sights, try looking into truglo tfo sights. You get the 3 dots an still are tritium an fiberoptic

  • Nice pistol. Maybe it only like clean leather. Kydex seems to create early wear on most finishes. Weight is a consideration and I understand it compares well to its Glock sister. Stay sharp, watch your corner and live long

  • Great review of a good looking pistol. Love my new standard black M&P40c and M&P40. I actually prefer M&P over Glock in the .40S&W. Still love my G17, G21SF and G26.

  • Does this Vtac model come in 45 ACP?

  • The trigger reset is what made me sell my M&P that and I already have tons of Glock magazines.

  • Those sights look like they would work if u had a can. Great review....i wonder about the finish.

  • Not having a sigma is actually fortunate....

  • @PistoleroJesse Indeed!!!! I had a sigma .40 and it was a huge piece if shit!! Super long trigger pull and it would jam on everyother round, no matter what kind of different ammos i used. The only reason i bought it was because it was 100 bucks. What a waste of money, ugg.

  • Good review as always.

  • Great review. I like the look of the pistol, but the wear from the holster would aggravate me.

  • I have a full size M&P-9, recently I have put the Apex FSS trigger kit in it and swap out the novak sights for a Dawson Precision fiber optic front sight and a black Warren rear sight. It is a fantastic weapon, easily matching my tricked out Glock 19.

Apex parts are hightly recommended. Great video.

  • I have an XD that I've been quite pleased with reliability wise, but it was an earlier model and came with a rust-prone finish that Springfield refinished for free (shipping and all--great warranty). However, they finished it in a duracoat-type spray on finish which has been fairly durable, but not as much as your typical melonite/tennifer finish. I believe this is cerakote (don't quote me on that), and I do know that they had problems with this gun appearing gold and shiny instead of a true

  • @wcropp1 flat dark earth (I've heard the SCAR had similar problems, though that may have been anondizing?). If this is indeed cerakote I'm not too impressed as it is supposedly a lot tougher than duracoat. Again, though, I'm going off of memory--this may not be cerakote, but every other FDE gun I've seen has been, and it's supposed to be the premier colored finish. So far spray on finishes aren't something I'm too fond of. I much prefer tennifer/melonite or stainless/chrome/nickel boron.

  • For what it's worth, I'd REALLY love to see a review of the H&K P30 with the light LEM trigger, it's supposed to be the cat's meow.

  • Semper Fi

  • The m&p 40 is the worst pistol i've ever felt

    I have smallish hands

  • @VicariousReality7 Then use the small grip swell. That's the entire reason S&W puts them in the box - to fit any sized hands. S&W researched what a human hand is shaped like, unlike Glock. Give the gun a full chance with the options given to you before reaching a brisk conclusion.

  • i looked at one when they first came out. but did not like the finish but really wanted the same sights so i called viking tactics and bought a pair for my M&P9 and M&P9C awesome sights. great video

  • Love my M&P .45 starting to notice some bore wear(that doesn't sit so well with me) after a few hundred rounds but its still accurate... It could be user error on my part but I have see worse bore wear on M9 Barretta's that still shoot relativity accurate... as always great review

  • my MP VTAC came with skuffs right out of the box.

  • Youtube has made television obsolete.

  • Another great video with amazing quality! Thank you and keep up the great work sir!

  • I think I am gonna sell my G17 and buy one of these. I have been wanting to buy the FNP45 Tac but its just too expensive...

  • Do you know what type of finish is on the pistol? One thing that just don't set right with me about the M&P pistol is that you can see daylight through the side of the pistol.

  • I saw while you were shooting that a few pieces of brass were kicking straight back towards you, is this noticeable during shooting?

  • Not to be over analytical on words here, but it sounded like you said V-tec as in the honda engine, instead of VTAC as in Viking TACtics.... just a brief lol moment.... cars and guns oh yeah.... great combo

  • Have you done a review on the standard M&P9? I'm interested in hearing more about it if you are considering switching from the g19

  • @gunfolksdotcom I haven't, but if/when I do make the switch I will do a detailed video about the pistol and my explanation as to why I made the switch.

  • Glock and M&P both have their features that stand out. Can't really tell which one I prefer more. Great review MAC, always look forward to your videos sir.

  • @tacticaltrigger Thank you, and thanks for watching.

  • pmc ammo is junk. buy american dude..

  • you have some of the best review on the internet. Great blend of actual trigger time footage and table reviewing.

  • Sturm:

If you like the Vtac sights you ought to check out the TruGlo TFO sights. I also understand that Sphinx Arms (the Swiss pistol maker) makes some combination Tritium/Fiber Optic sights which are different than the TFO as the tritium vials are not behind the FiberOptic but embedded in the FO (I've never seen these but I have been lusting over a Sphinx for a while so...).

    Cheers.

  • You seem so happy about the sights, hope you enjoy'em :)

  • Excellent review, thanks. I chuckled when you said, "I don't mean to be nitpicking..." because PLEASE do all the nitpicking you want. Most reviewers gloss over things (maybe in the hopes of mfgs sending them T&E guns) so I appreciate your honest and straightforward reviews.

  • @diskeed I will always be honest. I don't get T&E guns from manufacturers and even if I did, I would still give honest reviews. If it meant I didn't get another firearm from them, so be it. I'll go buy the firearm I want to review and then sell/trade it for the next review item. Regardless, the end result will be that I will always tell you exactly what I think because I know that's what you (everyone) expect from me.

  • As always great review, and thanks again for your review on the vz58. Had no real knowledge of the gun prior to your review, and blythes had two left in stock by the time I made it there. Had being the operative word.

    Keep up the great reviews.

  • @biglyle27 Glad you got one (or two) of them. Great rifles and the price was right. Blythes has been my gun shop for many years and I plan on doing an episode about them here soon.

  • @Sturmgewehre

I definitely bought both, 1 in the plastic monolithic furniture and the bakalite. Love that gun.

I've been going to blythes for the last 2 years and they seem to be very receptive of the fact that I live on the evil side of the border. Any chance you're going to SHOT this year?

  • @biglyle27 Yup, got the flight and hotel booked (we'll be staying at the Hard Rock). I'll be there the whole week with the MAC crew. If you see us, be sure to stop and say hi.

  • So how much more do you pay for the nice sights and fancy paint job?

  • @PRSpl4yer Well, the gun costs a little over $100 more than a base M&P. The VTAC sights are $239 on the Viking Tactics website... so you actually save money (using wife logic there).

  • @PRSpl4yer he said in the vid it is one hundred dollars over the standard m&p.

  • I noticed you were using PMC bronze. I think this is where your problems were coming from. PMC bronze seems to be undercharged stuff (at least in 115gr 9mm).

  • @viper51789 Yup, I thought about that but the same ammo runs fine in the black M&P sitting there and the 5906... and my other 9mm's. I agree, it's a bit weak in the power department but it *should* work. But all is well that ends well, it broke in and runs fine on the stuff now.

  • not particulary impressed by the sights. would like the front sight to be different and more distinctive than the rear, so its automatically first to pick by the eye. No reason for fancy overengineered expensive sights, if i choose to replace them due to ergo.

  • @DudeNumberOnePlus That's kind of how I felt before shooting with them. I like them, enough to put them on my other M&P. When I first saw pics of them, I thought they looked silly. But after using them and playing with them in the house, outside, and in various light conditions they work quite well.

  • Is that an illusion or the does barrel really bend up like that?

  • @Wilson1592 the muzzle tilts up as the chamber sets down to unlock from side, this is normal, its the most common method used in majority of the handguns.

  • @Wilson1592 I used to think that too but the back end pushes up a bit when you leave it open like that, so the barrel is straight but the slide is lifted a bit at the back end due to the slide lock (or what ever it's called)

  • @Wilson1592 If you're talking about when the slide is locked to the rear, that's normal and it is pointing slightly upwards.

  • @Sturmgewehre Yeah I know it usually tilts up, but for some reason it looked literally bent to me, but I re-watched the vid and it looked normal. (Maybe I was a little bit buzzed at the time)

  • One of the best looking pistol out there.

Would prefer the M&P over Gen4 Glocks any day.

  • Those sights are pretty sweet! No limp wrist test?

  • I'm going to buy a M&P and duracoat it DE. :P

  • Another great MAC review. Interesting sights!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • what about around twilight or sem-light/low-light conditions? The fiber optic sights could pick up just enough light to look the same as the glow ones I would think. Can you try this and tell me if its possible? If so, that could be an issue...

  • Great review. I think , i am with you on first impressions . Those sights do look busy.

  • Any buyer's remorse on this pistol?

  • @bhs0 Not really. I'll use it and abuse it, if the finish starts to look rough I'll have it Cerakoted.

  • @bhs0 Hell no i love my M&P. It has never jamed.

  • how do you feel about the tru glow TFO sights with the fiber optics and tritium

  • @tacdriver22mk2 I've not spent any meaningful amount of time with them.

  • Fantastic review, thanks!

  • The Model 59 was not stainless steel, it was blued with an alloy frame like the 39, but it took a double column magazine as opposed to the 39s single column mags. The 639 and 659 second gen pistol were S&Ws signature stainless steel guns, the 5906 evolving from those, the number "6" in the name usually indicating stainless steel construction. I used to own a 5906 and really liked it, and I'm glad to see someone like you with one as well.

  • @Yournamehere945 Yeah, I know. I hate it when I misspeak. I need an editor that reviews my stuff because I am forever saying things like that. :)

  • Great Video!

  • Those are some sweet lookin' sights. I think that finish is a deal breaker though. I will probably go with the FN 45 tactical in fde though. I know it costs a lot more but my 45 USG model is totally awesome and has had no problems at all. Great stuff as usual, I can always count on you to give a great review with no bias. You're an awesome shot byw. God bless brother.

  • Interesting concept, but I'll stick with the reliability of the Glock.

  • On my 3rd front sight, hopefully this one will hold together.

  • @OilTheGun Wow, now that's something I hadn't heard yet. PM me with the details, if you don't mind.

  • Holster wear adds character IMO. If that pistol was beat to f***ing hell it would look sweet as hell to me. Seriously, if less than half of the finish was left it would be badass.

  • That's a good looking gun.

Finish wear is a fact of life in a carry gun, but if it's wearing that fast, that's completely unacceptable.

  • I imagine the malfunctions where due to the new finish. Along with texture of it, it may also be more thick than the standard

  • I love your reviews thank you!

  • Can't get enough of your gun review : ) You're reviews are about as professional as it gets, keep it up!
