i think i'm literally getting addicted to all of Justin's projects, bon iver, his solo work gayngs, volcano choir, deyarmond edison, megafaun, polica etc. is there a name for this condition?
justin is kind of a pig. it's sort of sad how the bearded softy has become such an indie contrivance. it's embarrassing. there are so many other bands with the same sound, ones who came out before him.
@TheMistermistofeles I can't think of any other band that has the same sound of Volcano Choir.
I learned of this band because I liked Pele, heard of Collections of Colonies of Bees, and then learned of this band. Now, I've learned of Bon Iver. Sure, there are tons of singer-songwriters out there, but I don't think any of them have put out anything as good as he has recently.
Who cares how many projects Justin is in? As long as he puts out "good" music, I couldn't care less.
did they play any bon iver stuff @ this show? they have 2 upcoming midwest shows and i want to go but would like to see them play volcano and boniver stuff
@namaste53 They played everything off of Unmap and a new V.C. composition. But they don't play any Bon Iver stuff, mainly because it's an entirely different project.
@tomczik76 not knocking your observation, i can dig that, but this project is really based on electronic textures and stuff. it only fits. i don't think he's in the project to be "justin vernon." his voice is like another instrument. solid shit though, right?
@tomczik76 For Emma was cathartic, Volcano Choir is more spacey. Justin Vernon is not defined by a single project he's worked on, but his repertoire as a whole. I wouldn't worry about the autotune thing, it won't be overdone.

It's good to see such a large ensemble that can sound so good and uncluttered together.

I love this group and this album and Justin Vernon especially. But, I'm starting to wonder if he is getting to comfortable with the autotune.
