Well, it does seem his strategies are very similar to those of a European Social Democrat, which surprises me. So I'll admit he's further left than I expected - I still wouldn't call him radical by any means.
Of course, he hasn't really "nationalized" any industry, although we're apparently going to buy some assets from the banks.
However we may feel about Obama specifically or social democracy in general, let's hope this strategy works. Because failure would be terrible for the country.

I'll just take this opportunity to respond to one of the messages here, the one that calls Obama "left wing."
Americans are so ignorant of basic history, political and economic theories that many actually believe Obama is left wing or a socialist.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, etc.
(Of course there's a fine line here between comedy and tragedy.)
