  • "That's peanut butter.." lol

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh stooges

    4ever

  • If you traveled back 4 mil years to some Ethiopian hillside and gave our Australopithecine ancestors electric guitars, Marshall amps and of course a generator to power everything, this is the kind of music they would make. That stunning image of evil genius Iggy Pop standing on their hands near the end is right up there with Hendrix burning his guitar at Monterey.

  • Thats... Peanut Butter

  • Yeah, who gives a sh!t if they were "punk" or not? The only thing that matters is the fact that if it hadn't have been for them, and the likes of the NY Dolls, Velvet Underground, MC5, etc., punk would have never happened.

  • hahahahaha

  • i wish i was a 70s kid

  • from detroit , the stooges were the stooges doing what they did .live recorded studio albums amps on 10, the labels came after. for everyone not the stooges. if i had only 3 songs to listen to the rest of my life no fun would be one of them, what other band plays a song twice in the same show? IGGY! r.i.p ron

  • Jagger in TV Eye, Morrison in 1970, the ultimate proto-punk combo

  • Who cares who's the first, the Stooges were one of the best.

  • legend

  • Fuck advertisements.

  • "I FEEL ALRIGHT"

    Woman asks "Are you alright"

No he's out of his head on a Saturday night!

  • 4:26 lmao amazing

  • ...acid will do this to you.

  • I skipped the ad because I'm a punk.

  • @LeLimeLine FUCK ADDS!!!!!!

  • "Seems like a good place to get a message in." Haha. Who's the glue huffer beside the square?

  • Houston, we have Iggy. "Well ALRIGht!!"... "Iggy is somewhere, I don't know where, but we'll find him"....."OHHAAAALLLRIght!!"......"Oh, There he is...!IGGY!...."....."Said...ALright,Baby.

  • This is exactly why you do not perform under the influence of any drug.

  • Great new tunes!!

Call the shots tonight and Lizzard Dreams.. More to come soon!

    "Mattias Karpov" @ myspace

  • a-a-a-a-ahahaha-ahjaha-ahj -ah ah AHHHHHHHHHH-CIIIIIIIIIIIID

  • ACID

  • ...And there are people in there enjoying it and a couple of folk are actually lapping up Iggy diving in the crowd and some are even moving about with fists in the air. They were so weird for the time though that no-one knew how to react, would any of us?

Long live The Stooges, THEIR sound and anyone ever influenced by them.

  • All Stooges shows received negative, unsure or confused responses. People just did not know what to do, everyone claims punk (NY/UK76) took everyone by surprise all those years late, so imagine this?

The Stooges were 'No Elvis, Beatles or The Rolling Stones' whilst those bands were actually around, They were realistic in a time where everyone was all Peace and Love... they were just on about boredom and being a misfit growing up and hating life. They were fucking revolutionary beyond anyone else

  • 3:20 - 3:28

  • throw away your corduroy and flares , theres a new sheriff in town..Iggy

  • The first true punk band.

  • The Damned covered 1970, and called it I Feel Alright.

  • haha I love the thought of people with peanut allergies getting a chemical attack from Iggy Pop making it rain peanut butter on them.

  • More than likely not, but is that Townes Van Zandt at the start?

  • That’s it right there. This video is the proof that it actually happened. There were people that understood what this is all about. Hendrix, Iggy, Black Flag, The Gits, the list goes on…The Jesus fucking Lizard.... Nowadays all we got is indie fags or ‘brootal’ nerds working on Pro Tools, looking for perfection as if it’s something numeric. Thank god there’s still Oxbow out there.

  • LA MEJOR IMAGEN DEL ROCK!

la gente sosteniendo en el aire a Iggy de las piernas

y los dos temas mas enérgicos a mi gusto de los Stooges!

  • Thats fucking rock n roll!!!!

  • The Stooges and Iggy Pop forever.

  • The Stooges where punk before punk!!!

  • 3 dumb people cant see that cat

  • my favorite part

    "uh, thats peanut butter..."

  • nice gloves iggy, brah

  • A disney advertisement? On a fucking video of The Stooges? What the hell? I'd rather experience a Stooges concert than fucking Disneyland.

  • Ha ha , that performance would never have gone down at the Altamont festival !

    Epic Stooges !

  • FUCK YES, STOOGES!

One of the 1st bands I put on my jacket

  • she got a tv eye and i can't switch the channel

  • Is there aliens narrating?

  • terrible audience

  • @orlyf00l ??? what were you expecting a pit or something!?

  • Watching this and early MC5 stuff it's like...the audience just doesn't know how to react. I mean..it was 1970 man. This fucking rocks.

  • @insightdisorder Right. Pogoing wasn't invented until over ten years later. This crowd may actually be interested in what they're hearing, they just have no idea how to.

  • @insightdisorder Outta my mind on a Saturday night

    1970 rollin' in sight

    Radio burnin' up above

    Beautiful baby, be my love

  • "Man what a lame audience..fuck it"

  • @matthagedon if it was me I'd be going absolutely fucking apeshit!

  • @matthagedon ITS 1970 DUDE ITS ALL NEW TO EVERY ONE ITS CALLED THE BEGAINING

  • At this time Iggy was still wearing belts

  • @questionmarkjones I remember back in the day Iggy would sometimes describe the Stooges as a jazz band. I used to think he was kidding, but if you listen closely to the second album you can really understand it. Free jazz, experimental jazz, whatever you want to call it. Same with the Electric Eels [early and mid 1970s, from Cleveland, Ohio].

  • @Artaud1957 yeah the sax and noisy guitar pasts I can see

  • hooooly shit Iggy use to do ALOT af acid. u can tell he's trippin balls!

  • how can the Ramones be the first punk band if they were six years after this?

  • @mircea1910 I always wonder that...do people just not know about this??

  • @insightdisorder most people don't know about even Green Day let alone the god of punk Iggy Pop.

  • @mircea1910 THATS RIGHT

  • @mircea1910 Damn good question!

  • @mircea1910 the stooges weren't fully punk but they were considered an early predecessor to it so the ramones are considered the first proper punk band

  • @mircea1910 they weren't punk

  • @rodbarajas1 how were they not?

  • @TheDirks1 they didnt have the punk ethos - they only inspired sex pistols, clash etc because they played loud, fast and short songs in contrast to the bloated prog rock music/ zepplin inspired excess at the time. Punk rock is about revolution and fighting against the order, the ramones were just like the beach boys but obvs louder, faster etc

  • @rodbarajas1 The stooges didnt start a revolution??????? are you fuckin crazy?!?!?

  • @mircea1910 This is where punk comes from but it isn't punk yet. It's more hardrock, coming from bluesrock.

  • what the hell did i just watch? i liked it.

  • @teden20 i asked my self that very exact same question

  • @teden20 U WERE WATCHING ROCK N ROLL GIVE BIRTH TO PUNK

  • And punk rock was born

  • I love the CIA guy at the beggining

  • @jchrisiciplan Not even the CIA knew what to do with Iggy

  • best video on yotube?

  • 10:47:55:02: THAT'S PEANUT BUTTER...

  • The announcer is the only one having fun in the audience. These hippies are the lamest shits I've ever seen. Thank God the hippy days are gone. I'll stick with punk and metal...

  • I don't know why everyone's complaining about the announcer. I think his nonchalant commentary on the insanity happening on stage and in the crowd is hilarious!

  • @cellojordan: Proving that even guys on American TV in their 60s AT the end of the 60s could have a (TV) eye for coming phenomenons.....

Did American TV have to explain sociologically everything back then? ...i just wonder....same happened with Warhol in the US media at that time - as far as i know......

  • ALL HAIL!!!

  • Fuck you AL Roker.

  • dude needs to learn to shut the fuck up, this is a stooges concert not a fucking hockey game!

  • thank you drugs for all the good records.

  • superstoned

  • It's still hard to believe that they actually tried recording this live, I mean, didn't they know anything about the Stooges? That at any moment Iggy could whip his dick out?

  • Thanks. Great playing!

  • Stiv Bators claimed to his dying day that he was the one who gave Iggy the peanut butter.

  • Who's playing sax on this?!?

  • @Hanklebury Steve MacKay, I think. He's playing with the current Stooges lineup too.

  • Stoned out of his head

  • shit dude...is he bleeding?

    the stooges rocks

  • @dime1046 Iggy pop bled more times than your last 3 girlfriends combined.

  • so good! sends shivers down my spine!

  • I saw the Stooges twice. First time they played the entire Funhouse album. The second time they did the Raw Power album. Those two shows practically destroyed my hearing, but it was worth it. Best live shows I've ever seen, bar none.

  • @sandbar60090 thats amazing, what years did you see them?

  • The dude hes interviewing is so fucked up he cant he talk back he just smiles lmao....There goes Iggy into the crowd! lmfao!

  • thestooges.forumotion(dot)com

  • Does this fuck think he's commenting on a fucking firemans picnic or something?

  • 'that's peanut butter!'

  • good time to go away for a message? my ass it is! wtf?!

  • This was the death of the hippies! unforntunalty they still exist and thier ten times worse. I live in a town packed with them.

  • @BluntObject1234 Not so much the death of the hippies - this kinda stuff was around before them....more the death of the American dream...The Hippies just started listening to this. I agree tho they do still fag the place up!! Have a goodun'!

  • @BluntObject1234 Punks and hippies unite today. We all realize the government and corporate culture hates everyone equally.

  • @BluntObject1234 Me too ...I am in Christiania Free town of Denmark ...where are you at ?

  • @ClausWeiergang Salt Spring Island Canada. Look up "Palu Rainbow song" oh god. Hippies call themselves revolutionaries but their sensitive fucks. Nature people are even worse. Duh lets spend 100 dollars on hemp diapers for Yes "Indigo" children do exist and no they are not here to save the world and make our hearts bleed out rainbows while a unicorn fucks us in the ass. "Indigos" are in fact....well Iggy Pop. They have heart of warriors not dumb asses.

  • @BluntObject1234 fuck you man the hippies were awesome.

  • iggy and the stooges kick Ultimate Ass

  • i love how iggy is screaming "out of my mind on saturday night!!!! I FEEL ALRIGHT!!!!" to these mellowed out hippies trying to chill

  • @rondoliomercutio I guess that's why they become punks?

  • i love iggy pop

  • kewl

  • if this happened today he'd be consumed by obese mericans

  • @dirty30jr Exactly.

  • ahead of their time...nobody does concerts like this anymore

  • @kafrrros Don't be dumbfounded when I say this, but I have a band that is all about this stuff( besides the peanut butter). We were raised on good shit like this and other bands it is just that they never air or talk about this music anymore. It is all about electronic music and a ton of B.S.. Music has become so bland and untalented crap because younger generations decided that that music is the stuff. Me, I don't think so.

  • yeah man! uncensored, completely d.i.y punk, hardcore, indie and alternative!

  • the crowd is like sleeping

  • that#s peanut butter

  • i can only imagine what all the people watching this tv show were thinking.

  • ese hombre tenia el rock en la maldita cabeza

  • STOOGES IS FABULOUS \o/ ... Gods of Rock EVER!!!!

  • that announcer is classic...

  • omfg the crowd sucks balls.

  • Comment removed

  • la fi lora HHHUuuu lll

  • Iggy Pop is so hot!

  • That oldtimer seems to really be enjoying the show.

  • drugs are great :)

  • Some of the most amazing imagery in the history of rock n roll.

  • drugs are bad kids...

  • @omegalen not all drugs are inherintly bad, do some research. But it all depends. I do agree thats KIDS shouldn't do drugs, but adults should have a right to. Marijuana gets a bad rap, and yet alcohol is sooooooooooooo much worse and LEGAL. HAHAHHAA Shows you why so many people become so disillusioned and upset. "If they lied about pot, then what about all the others?" I asked that question many times and yes the other drugs can be bad, but pot? not so much.

  • I'm reading the book I Slept With Joey Ramone and in the book Johnny and Mickey, Joey's brother, were watching this with their friends on TV and Johnny said, when Iggy was rubbing peanut butter on himself, "What is that? Is that dog shit? Haha! He's rubbing dog shit all over himself!" EPIC!

  • stiv bators from the dead boys is the one who gave iggy the peanut butter at least thats what i read

  • where did this take place?

  • LOL....Michael Jackson copied the weird glove thing from IGGY........Classic

  • Heroin

  • OMG look at O:19 is the blend man!!!

  • WTFUCK IS HE HIGH

  • @wowdoomblood12 no hes just iggy pop

  • @wowdoomblood12 he said he was on acid when this happened

  • @UZIsuicide9111 I have no doubt about that! The whole 'Fun House' album is said to have been recorded on acid. This doesn't mean it's not great!

  • yet another great performance by iggy & the stooges

  • cant wait to see them

  • We seem to have lost'im.....

  • Ya they were influenced a bit by MC5. But back in those days the stooges mostly just mocked every band they saw because they were constantly smacked up. They really were way ahead of there time. Just throwing convention out the window.

  • @WolfmanToldmeToBilo I think Jim Morrison did that way before he did. ;)

  • @mikeyskywalker He took what he saw from Jim and surpassed it to make music change forever!!!

  • @WolfmanToldmeToBilo they werent influenced by the mc5

  • @UZIsuicide9111 Their performances where influenced from the Doors.

  • @UZIsuicide9111 lol how do you know? I've read books about Iggy and they had several different people in the band... but James Williamson was obviously influenced by the devil.

  • this guy is out doing his own thing, years before punk. one of rocks great performers. im so out of it i didnt know johhny rotten passed away in april.

  • @12sandwicheatin Johnny Rotten isnt dead

  • were the stooges influenced by the MC5, coz i see some similarities between kick out the jams mc5 and the stooges funhouse album and since they were in same city and label, and stooges second album has a very different sound to the first :S

  • EXELLENT!!!!

  • Havent seen this Before, What a top performer, especialy for 1970 !!

  • @rscaneut 1970

Theres other copies on the net without the wm but quality aint so good :( I tried to post a link on here but it wouldnt let me for some reason
