Hey I'm the guy from UG asking about the cleans on this amp. Is there any way you could demo a range of clean stuff on this amp? Maybe like jazz or something?
While I haven't gigged with mine, I've had to transport it to and from my dorm to my house (5 hour drive) frequently and in various weather conditions. No issues yet.
If volume is the issue, most (not all) venues will let you mic it (you shouldn't have to though; it gets pretty loud).
The head + cab has some benefits for sure. For instance, the head is 120 watts (a LOT louder), has a
bright switch (I never use it but it's nice to have), there's an extra preamp tube (for the rhythm channel), the effects loops is footswitchable and because you can pick your cab you can shape the tone a little more (most people I know tend to prefer a Mesa Boogie cabinet with V30s).
However, the head + cab is a LOT more expensive than the combo amp.
Oh yeah, the combo is assembled in china (where the valvekings are made) whereas the head is made in the USA if that makes any difference to you.
60 watts tube should TECHNICALLY be loud enough (I haven't been in any situation yet to tell), but if it isn't, you definitely can attach a V30 cabinet to it.
also, the combo has an effects loop, it's just not footswitchable to be on or off like on the head. It'd be similar to the effects loop on the valveking I'd think.
Also, the 6505 and the 6505+ slightly different tonewise, so I can't really answer that question. I can say safely though that if someone LIKES the 6505, they
Yes a Van halen tone would best describe what im looking for and in some cases i would use a little more dostortion though but, also I was really wanting a Valveking cause I play one every weekend and I like it but, the music store I go to only has the Peavey 6505+ head will the 112 and the stack sound the same or will there be a big diffrence? and also one more thing. Unless im blind, but where is the master volume or anything for volume?
the 6505 was designed by eddie van halen so I would probably go for it if I were you.
I've compared the head to the combo before, and from what I can tell, they are just about exactly the same (the head has better cleans), except it is far louder and has a bright switch (the cab will make a difference as well).
Also, the post knob on each channel is the volume knob for each channel. Took me awhile to figure that out myself lol
Thanks! It's going to be hard to make videos in my dorm (noise levels and such) but I'll try and work something out to where I can get more videos like this up.
BTW my mom and I got the amp up to 6 on the post knob (the volume knob essentially) and this sucker gets LOUD. It can easily overpower your drums I'd think.
sounds sic man, I have a weeping demon as well, the best wah ever imo, rock on.

@Schecter311 you won't get a good Jazz tone out of a 6505+... + UG FTW?

will this amp be a good amp to gig with very frequently?
and does the head+cab have any benefits that the combo doesn't have?

yeah, the amps usually will get mic'ed but there is always a chance that we don't get to play with a PA...
yeah, the cab will come pretty soon.. but what are the differences between de head and the headpart of the combo?
the head is twice as expensive so it sounds too good to be true to get the same good sound
and isn 't it quite cheap to get a 60watt modded to 120 and visa versa?
deestra 2 years ago
The head is 120 watts, has a bright switch, is significantly louder, has footswitchable FX loop, and has an extra preamp tube for the rhythm channel.
The mod for the heads AS FAR AS I KNOW is to just take out two power tubes.
The real reason why the head is so much more expensive is that it's USA made whereas the combo is made in china (parts from the US)
ITGZachATTACK 2 years ago
yes but a 60watt tube combo should be loud enough, right? There will be PA at big gigs so that isn't that much of an issue..
Is an effects loop that much better? it never bothered me that it isn't footswitchable, i use a ME-70 on my ValveKing.
And i can attach a bigger V30cab on the combo, right?
but will you think that someone who adores 6550 will also love the 1speaker combo?
the fact that its mide in china, doesn't necessarily mean something if it comes to quality, right?

more of a hard rock sound is what im looking for.
4everguitarplayer 2 years ago
Hard rock as in say...Van Halen?
ITGZachATTACK 2 years ago
This or a valveking?
4everguitarplayer 2 years ago
A valveking is cheaper but I like the way this sounds more.
Valveking has a better clean for sure.
What are you going to use your amp for?

lolz i like how you laugh at the end

Wow....we REALLY need to jam, bro.

Definitely.

ITGZachATTACK 2 years ago
I LOL at that statement. In my garage, my drums echo a LOT
TwigPunter 2 years ago
@TwigPunter
Just got back from a jam session.
With an extension cab that I currently don't own it could easily overpower your drums I'd think.
Right now it can get about equal but it muds up a little at around 8.
Of course, the acoustics of a garage would be much better than the small room I was in earlier today.
