  • you really know about that...but buy a better mic

  • You are hilarious! I loved this lesson. I need to work on my head voice more than anything

  • Needed that, I'm a sapreno and problems singing a lot need to sing louder a hole lot louder.

  • WHAT ABOUT THE SORT OF BELTING THAT FANTASIA DO, IS DEM DA SAME?

  • yup! chest voice isnt the best to sing cuz its tiring for ur voice.. that's why speaking in falsetto is best when repairing ur voice.. besides not talking lol.. i like learning this stuff.. ur really good at it singing and teaching.. :)

  • sometimes when i try to sing in my chest voice my throat starts to hurt. is this bad? do i just need to practice more? or am i singing in the wrong place? i usualy sing in my head voice but i want to get more solos, so singing solos isnt great in my head voice. anyways ive been practicing my chest voice but i dont exactly know where to sing in my throat. does that make sense?

  • @99koolio99

confusion... how do you usually sing in your head voice, head voice can only go so low... after that chest takes over, so if you sing a low note you should be in chest voice anyway. your speech voice is basically a chest voice because the main resonence comes from the chest if you speak and say aye and hold it and feel your chest with your hand, you should feel it vibrating, this is why they call it chest voice.

  • this was funny lol but it helps

  • Thank you so much for all ur singing tutorials.. ur methods have helped me a lot! :) please keep it up xxx

  • i'd like to know that is singing chest voice like shouting loudly by throat?

i can't reli do the same(or similar )as you when i try....

it sounds like i was scolding someone but not singing:(

  • you're so funny in a positive way! great tutorials I really like your videos alot and it is inspiring to see you use your talents God has given you. =)

  • random question: is it natural for ur adam's apple to get bigger as u sing for a long time?

  • Thank God for your MINISTRY!!!!

  • Yolanda Adams is the best!! That's where i learned how to sing and belt it out! I <3 her!

  • I have always sung high notes with my falsetto and light mixed voice when I was a teenager. As a Countertenor, I was only comfortable with head tone from top to bottom of my range. Eventually, I learned how to sing using my chest voice with some help but it was kinda late in life (age 20-21). For a man, I had a hard time getting that going. It was challenging to sing higher notes than F4 without my falsetto.

  • Thank you so much!!! you really help me alot

  • shut the fuck up!

  • You helped me a lot with your video! : )

  • U cut your hair :O :D

  • i really like this video i am really triying to get better at my singing i really need to learn to mix my head voice with my head voice

  • funny and cute i like.

  • find it like you're yelling for your mom? Higher notes need more air? that's not right at all. I strained my cords for two weeks doing exactly THAT. Yelling puts unnecceary strain on your cords period. Chest voice is harder for women than men, so maybe you're on some level speaking to women....

  • I wish i could practice this but my neighbors would probably be irritated :P

  • hi Dileesa. hope you don't mind. im learning so much from your videos.. but could you help me understand about this video

  • Thanks sooooo much!

  • geeze! this was incredible! when you were giving examples of what broadway stars do, your voice was INSANE!!! how do you do that?? the broadway voice? I've always wanted to learn how to do that. Plz keep posting tutorials cause I cant afford voice lessons =]

  • if you have the time i would really appriciate if you could watch one of my videos and give me some singing advice.

    your awsome.

  • all i have to say is BEAST!!!

  • ur an EXCELLENT teacher!!

  • I've heard that once once finds their singing voice it becomes easier to sing and do the exercises. Soo any tips in finding your singing voice?

  • I'm not really qualified to really give voice tips, but you don't really have a "singing" voice. Because you don't want do create a voice that isn't natural to your body. Which is why a lot of people teach "speech level singing"

  • Thank you for replying :)

  • im really high in my chest voice for a guy

  • i can sing in my chest voice so far up and then it starts to strain so i have to stop. For my Solo performence in my gcse music lesson i have to sing crazier by taylor swift and the first note in the chorus is just one note too high. Could you give me some tips on how to reach it without putting strain on my voice or how to add that one note to my vocal range??

    thanks

    laura xx ^_^

  • whats the difference between headvoice, falsetto and mix???? PLEASE ANSWER!! Love u :)

  • Would singing in your chest voice be similar to yelling?

  • no, and careful

If you just yell without the correct technique you'll damage your voice

  • But this video is effected to.Thanks

  • My problem is I forgot how to the chest voice, head voice and belting and how to achieve my highest notes naturally, it sounds like I'm forcing it. It is because every summer I sang and sang and sang......., but last summer I took a swimming lesson and joined the swimming so I've been busy training, now I haven't sang for the whole summer and I forgot how to do those tricks I mentioned and I want it back, can you help me? Somebody help me.

  • i don't know how to use my chest voice. the way i do it just sounds like i'm forcing my sound out. it doesn't sound good and i just don't think i'm doing it right. i don't know why i have some much trouble with it.

  • This is great ! .. i can sing in my chest voice but not very high ... how do you find your mixed voice ?? you are an amazing singer!

  • :) thanks a lot for the tips...i really dontknow how to use my chest voice..

  • You're awesome! Thanx for the great tips!

  • THANK YOU SOO MUCH

  • I am having trouble with singing low.And i dont know what a chest voice is or how to use it and i dont know what a head voice is and how to use ir! Im so concused!

  • You sound like Chakha when you are "belting-mixing your voice", very impressive.

  • it was a good lesson thankyou i give a grade of I like it and thankyou for trying to teach me

  • great instruction.

  • Hi dileesa! you have a lovely voice! I am a light high lyric soprano when i sing classical music. With a break between head and chest voices, which I can sing over smoothly when I sing classical music. But when I sing pop or gospel, navigating between the registers seems impossible. I have a nice but rather limited chest voice, and a really high belt which is more like a focused nasalised head voice with a HUGE break in between. How do you nevigate between registers and make it sound seamless?

  • Its like..ur coverinn evrythinn ive needed help with 4 ages...ur God sentt...

  • i really want to improve my chest voice but my singing teacher want me to improve my head voice more!

    thanks for your help!

    xxx

  • haha that so funny. they way you changed from soft to loud. made me laugh. but it really helped me. :)

  • You're a very good teacher, thank you so much for these videos =) The techniques are extremely helpful.

  • one of my teacher said I should just use my head voice.. but the other one said I should learn my chest voice as well..

what do I do? I don't take lessons anymore..

  • Depends on what genre you prefer? Classical is more a head voice. But pop is more a chest voice because you belt it all out. You can build a brigde between it. Good luck!

  • i actually learned that you need both.

i thought that i would survive with just my chest voice, but no. you really need your head voice as well. it's good to have both too because you'll have versatility, and you'll develop a "mix" voice when you have both.

  • gosh! you have a beautiful voice. and a good teacher.

  • you hve ana amazing v oice

  • Fantastic this has helped me so much! Thank you Dileesa:D xxxx

  • what excersises should i do to get a chest voice ?? thank you.xx

  • what excersises should i do to get a chest voice ?? thank you.xx

  • Thank you so so so so much!!!!! This was super helpful you're awesome

  • I also love your videos and your voice. Please do a part 2 for the Ad libs because I still get it yet. Thanks and keep up the good work!

  • Hi Ms Dileesa I have a question, when I used to take singing lessons and my teacher told me that I shouldnt sing a lot in my age (im almost 15) because he said that it could damage my chords.. Is it true?

  • what do you mean by singing from the mask? i've heard this before but i dont quite understand how to "sing from the mask" - what does it feel like?

  • that the sound is resonating/vibrating in your head.

  • is it good if i start at the age of ten????

  • Lady, you are life safer!!!! keep teaching!!!!

  • Thank you!

  • hey Dileesa

u have helped me so much and i love u 4 that. i vocal train every day, some times for the hole day, singing is my life and i know i could learn so much from u. when is your web site American singing

studio gonna B up and running???

  • can we start singing in any age??

because I see everyone saying that started in a young age.....

    I'm 26yo :(

  • well, you can start at any age of course, its just most ppl discover their love of music and singing at a very young age.

  • thanks for answering.

Now I never understood that most of singers call - Breath Chest.

How can I know that I'm using my chest to singing and breathing at the same time??

    :)

  • And how can I do that?

    ;)

  • lol ... chest voice is actually a misnomer... your voice will always come out of your larynx (voice box) in your throat. The term 'chest voice' refers to resonance spots, which is also a misnomer... our voice will never resonatein our chest... but we can identify the technique because when we use it our chest vibrates.... that's why its called chest voice... you lungs have no capacity to produce sound

  • Your an amazing teacher!

You have really helped me =] xx

  • You actually got a few laughs out of me.

  • all my friends say that

  • Wow!!!You sound just like Chaka from 7:43 to 7:48.

  • i sing out of my nose and i have this awful breathing following it.. how do i help this? xx

  • wow u sure do know alot about music thanks 4 the tips,,,r u a singer?

  • yes, i'm a singer

  • You sing like you're in love with me. LOL Just kidding. I like the daydreamy voice...I don't know what's that's called. Is it called Harmonizing? You know when a voice sounds day dreamy, make you feel on cloud 9 type of feel.

  • haha! the 'daydreamy' voice is called mixed voice... a mixture of chest and head... you can also call it belting. harmonizing involves more than one singer

  • Can you do a video in harmonizing and a part 2 Ad libs? Thanks.

    God bless you

  • Ma vocal teacher said to have a good supply of air and then have a rounded mouth and have the right HEAD position so that you get a FULL sound... it works buh wha do u think?

  • You are a great teacher! Thanks.

  • Your belting sounds really rich, powerful, loud, and great! I cant believe it was so hard for you to learn it.. =) But yes, it is hard! Oh I hope someday I will learn it too =)

  • yes, it was hard, and i just had tolearn my limits... work at it and you will too... thanks!

  • guurrllll Ive been singing forever just to find out that ive been singing wrong as hell. My breathing is bad and my vibrato sucks(lol). Could my weight gain be the problem? where r u from?

  • I was thinking of putting up a video about breathing, but i wasn't sure. How does your vibrato suck? Is it too fast, too heavy...? Exhaustion from Motherhood and life can take a bigger toll on your voice than any weight gain! Originally, I'm from Manchester, UK.

  • HEY! You're amazing! I sing really quiet, lots of people say it. This REALLY helps. I can't really sing that high though. I sing a bass F and a tenor F. Not sure if that would mean anything, LOL. But that's two octives and I'm wondering if there's a limit I can only go to, or if it takes LOTS of practice to gain higher then the expectation. Also, how do you sing in a mixed voice? Also asked by silvernitrate10 3 weeks ago? Thanks!

  • two octaves? ... you prob have more than that... but would have to hear... why do you want to go higher? Do you believe are are a tenor, or are you a bass who can hit a few tenor notes? if its the latter, then you have a pretty big range... its about perspective, and working what you do have.

  • O.o... I mean't I can sing from Bass C to Tenor F. Lol, my bad. I'm only 15 and yeah, I just want to hit a Tenor C. Do you think that's even possible? O.o...

  • I just like listening to you...

  • Aw man, its so hard to find my sweet spot. Whenever I sing with my chest voice, it hurts but its perfectly fine when I sing with my head voice. ARJEAOIDF. How frustrating. Thanks for the video though! Its a lot of help. :D

  • Oh god, thank you so much. I'm in high school and after three years of nothing, I've finally gotten a decent part in our musical. Unfortunately I've not been in choir since 7th grade, and I'm not the best singer, and coincidentally the one line I sing in the musical is supposed to be solely chest voice/belting, which I've never attempted. My castmates are unhelpful, thank God you're here to help me, I feel like you were actually here and helping me as a friend. Thank you.

  • WOW, you're very welcome.

  • thank you for this :) you help a lot!

    amazing voice by the way,

  • im a new SUBSCRIBER!!!!

  • I LOVE your videos Dileesa! Keep up the good work ;)

  • Thank you so much! I really appreciate that.

  • So how do people sing in "mixed" voice? It's kind of confusing to grasp the concept, without bring the chest too high up.

  • I had a question about singing in a whispering voice, or a scratchy voice? Like some slow rock songs or r&b stuff. If you could give us some examples or maybe you could help me with this. You are amazing! Thank you so much for posting these video's they're great!

    -Michael

  • Hi Michael,

have you tried singing really early in the morning or late at night? If you watch my vibrato video, you'll notice my voice is much deeper than usual. It is because i recorded it late at night. If your voice isnt naturally raspy, it takes much effort to 'make' it raspy, plus, its not healthy, so its really not good to practice it. You'll just exhaust yourself.

  • Hey Dileesa,

It's me MIchael again, and thanks for responding back. I don't know if you ever heard the band " RED " but if you listen to them the singer has a little scratchiness in his voice, and it sounds really good. I'm trying to use that as an effect for certain parts. Just wondering if there is a way to teach that?

    Thanks again Dileesa

    -MIchael

  • Sure, but it may easier to demonstrate than it is to explain, so i'll go ahead a make a video. You're welcome, and thanks for your inquiry!

  • You are such an amazing singer, i really can't get over it lol :)

    Your tutorials help SO much!

  • i've been waiting for this video my whole life! XD where have you been girl!

  • Great, thanks!

i always go all falsetto on high notes so hopefully your tips + practice will help :)

  • You're welcome! women don't have a falsetto, we just have a head voice. If the notes are REALLY high, just make it a strong head voice (belting) by keeping your voice very forward. Don't 'throw' your voice to the back of the throat, that's panic mode. tilting your head slightly forward and releasing your vibrato may help.

  • Thank you very much.
