The spray toad's only natural habitat is the 2ha within the spray wetland of Kihansi in the Udzungwa mtns. Tanzania govt is trying to reintroduce them to the wild with the support of amphibian specialists worldwide, especially Bronx, Toledo and San Diego Zoos, IUCN and South Africa. In Tz the University of Dar es Salaam and Sokoine, TAWIRI and NEMC are busy trying to set up experiments for this. It is not an easy job but everybody is trying very hard.
This is horrible- humans causing the extinction of a species of toad in the wild. Lets be optomistic; who knew that the entie population of these East African frogs would end up in NY and OH?
This is horribly depressing.. at least they were not completely wiped out. Things like this make me rather disgruntled toward humans.. that we're so directly related to various extinctions. Poor toads =(

They look surprisingly "lanky" for a toad - more of a treefrog style of body shape, wouldn't you say?

We caused the extinction but we also saved them. I think that would mean that we can basically call it moot...
