  • I got the HKS cat-back coupled with a Turbo XS downpipe+custom 3" test-pipe. Er...anyone willing to trade HKS cat-back for a Borla one???

  • sounds awesome.. just got the Borla cat-back exhaust for my 07 speed 3. getting installed early next week.

  • so is that just the borla cbe or also a test/race/downpipe? i'm thinking about getting just a cbe... thanks.

  • Sounds amazing...Picked up my new leftover true red '09 on friday!! Can't wait to get started with her.

  • What are the gains from this?

  • Moar noiz.

  • Borla was jus dropped off at the back door ...along with test pipe...BOOM!!

  • OOOOoooohhh thats sounds good...u jus sold me...I was lookin at that or the magna flow.and ya court post with magna...i am curious

  • Sounds awesome dude. I'm comparing the Borla vs MazdaSpeed Cat-back for my 08 MS3.

  • sounds sweet man, i was thinking between the ms cbe and borla but i gave into the ms so that its warranty friendly! =]

  • this is great. i had a battle on what to buy. borla or magnaflow. decided to go with the mangnaflow b/c its a 3inch exhaust. i will post soon. no one on here has a magnaflow posted yet.

  • why so much smoke?

  • Turbo!

  • cold start?

  • Nope.....Its probably just installed recently....They all do that.....

  • Turbos have bad seals from the factory. When you open the exhaust up, you find out yours was smoking all along. Bolt stock back up & get it swapped under warranty.

  • Hey your talking about turbos. My friend has a Volvo S-60 R. it runs 14 psi stock and the turbo is starting to leak oil, You think its just the seals thats wrong with it?

  • prolly.

I'd just swap it out under warranty. I don't care what the dealership says - lower back pressure doesn't make a turbo blow it's seals and fed. law says they have to prove something you did broke it. :P

  • Here's the thing about the MS3 Borla: It sounds amazing and will fool your ears into thinking you are driving a much more expensive sports car. It sounds better with temperatures above 60. While the stock MS exhaust is well designed it does have an annoying drone when you get off throttle. The Borla eliminates that. The Borla tone will never be lumped in with what most people would consider "ricer'ish". If there is any drawback I say it's the 2.75" pipe and the massive sized tip.

  • It's really hard to make the stock exhaust sound better. Says a lot of about Mazda's engineers. They have good taste. Stock exhaust sound is my favourite aspect of this car. Mods are cool also.

  • Sounds great! I'm just to chicken to cut into my nice prime factory pipe!

  • arent cat-back just like replacing stock.. i mean, you dont need to cut anything.

    Im confused..

  • Well yeah... almost every modification you can do to a car replaces something that's stock or comes with the car from the factory. Cat-back exhaust systems just bolt in to where the stock exhaust is. Cat-back just means that the exhaust replaces all the components up to the car's catalytic converter.

  • Yeah its just a swap from the cat to the back. lol

  • sounds good but not that loud. Mines louder and I just cut the resiantors out straight pipe from the cats 80bucks
