  • my lifes goal is to go back in time and go to this. being born is 1996, i never had the chance.

  • @PatByrd47 I suggest you get a new life goal.

  • Never before or after drums have been played that way again- like in this 6 minutes!

  • The moment the bass comes in is the most epic moment that i ever heard in music my whole life

  • This song has an appropriate amount of cowbell.

  • nothing finer then a man in a black vest, no shirt and jeans............

  • no videos no cell phones and u honed ur craft by playing live everywhere no electronics that take up slack for slack musicians..

  • Top Comments: "I can't imagine how high everybody was". No, what you can't imagine is the strength of the music scene and how much live music there was out there, just like any other major public work network. Now, in America, there might be more drug dealers than professional musicians. What got me was seeing the keyboardist looking so young, someone I jammed with in the seventies in a Niagara Falls, N.Y., jazz bar. If you notice, Sanatana hardly looks at his guitar. That's not acid working.

  • at the end around 5:45 or so you can see water on the crash cymbal lol they were playin in some shitty weather for woodstock

  • Happy Birthday David Brown! May You Rock In Peace <3

  • I'm only 16. I would give anything in the world to have been there.

  • You know they say that Carlos took acid before this, and he was imagining the neck of his guitar bending and slithering like a snake, and he was trying to hold on to it with all his strength. Yet, he still managed to pull of the solo...nice.

  • i think santana wa better off back then than he is now i also have played this solo before i mention it on my other comment

  • @anyakristinaa thanks ive been playing and listining to santana sence i was born i will try to upload some of my work on utube

  • musicorgasm!

  • Santana has proven you don't need singing or lyrics to make an amazing song

  • Classic performance. Not full version tho,no extended drum solo.

  • Orgullo mexicano

  • The greatest one song performance in rock and roll history. You might name one as good, but can you name one better?

  • Hangin out, beer in hand, good tunes, life is good.

  • I Always ear it with so pleasure!!

    So fantastic!!

  • I can't imagine how high everybody was.

  • @Bcool1978 including the band.

  • @Bcool1978 That's why Carlos is making those weird faces the whole time.

  • @Bcool1978 Santana admited he has high in that concert. That´s why he is doing those faces. He said the guitar looked like a snake trying to run away.

  • favorite song by santana. who fuckin needs words we have music

  • big influence

  • places like woodstock are the places that kids like justin bieber are never going to go upstage never

  • Voici un des 3 meilleurs guitaristes de Woodstock avec Alvin Lee et Jimi Hendrix.

  • lol Carlos was on acid during this performance.

  • @TheBrautigans where is it Cut?

  • @Lorenita4294 lets go, once there the REAL trip will start!

  • Man that drummer is insanely talented, why'd you cut the solo? Shame

  • thank you for upload

  • Thumbs down for cutting the drum solo. Don't ever do that. Never.

  • Well I got this Delorean, who want to come with me back to 1969?

  • @Lorenita4294 I will :) We will drop some acid and just let it go :D. Btw i have to try play on acid but now its too hard to get true one :D bromodragonfly is not the same :/.

  • The best drum performance?

  • @SaharRachamim EVER !!!!

  • michael shrieve just made 10,202 babies

  • My favorite jam from Woodstock! The kid on drums was only 18 at the time, but he played his butt off. They got thrown out of Oklahoma City concert in 1970 for smokin' pot in their dressing room before concert.

  • i miss tohse kind of concerts, no like these days

  • sweet sound of santana.if only i was born on tht year n get to see this epic concert.

  • Hey keep that goin' - unforgettable!

  • To all who missed it a Month ago ... "Happy Dragon 12 ! " Creative Bliss & Crystal Recollections to all Galactic Beeings ...Runi (White Solar Wizards at Maya Calendar ...

  • awesome

  • Santana is an inspiration on guitar, this crowd was one big ear..trippin together

  • Why couldn't us rock fans have been born in this time when rock music was new and fresh?

  • I was 17, and was right in front of stage behind wooden fence. The congo drum player was right in front of me. Best experience I ever had listening to live music. So, close the music went through my whole body, not just into my ear. The hair on the back of my neck stood up.

  • I hate how music has evolved in the past 15 years. I wish i were alive to be around when this kind of music was thriving unlike the soulless crap produced by a majority of "artists" today. Truly amazing performance from a truly amazing band from the greatest musical era in history.

  • ithink this song isthe best of santana

  • I listened to Santana growing up in the 90's. music never dies!

  • Comment removed

  • I first heard Carlos Santana in Fall of '67 when he and the band came to San Francisco State and performed on Friday afternoons for about a 90 minute set. He wanted to educate us about the music that was happening in San Francisco's Mission District. We learned quick, our minds blown. The Santana band went on to Woodstock and blew the minds of a half a million people then and probably a billion since then.

  • quelle belle epoque dommage que nous ne connaitrons plus tous cela

  • can't believe carlos was on lsd , and still make an awesome performance, his guitar neck was like having a snake in his hands

  • @bruncen he was on mescalin payote not acid

  • @bruncen Mescalin brother, still tripped out though haha

  • the like/dislike bar looks like the joint I just lit up.. thank you haters!!

  • 1 dollar if you can spot a sober person

  • @StraatMeneeer the baby in the stroller among the audience, but then he's probably on a 2nd hand high.

  • Who the fuck is Justin Bieber?

  • Super good

    Grandma Mary

  • i'm the 10000° like! :D

  • pura sandunga!!!

  • This tune still haunts....Excellent!!

  • My life is ruined. I just saw a video including Carlos Santana. He played a beatles cover (Let It Be) together with... Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    CARLOS, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE????????????????????

  • 107 people = Justin Bieber

    9940 people= Woodstock

  • @Mcartney13 I disliked it, just so I could be a successful, cute, rich kid who drives a Lamborghini and has more money at the age of 16 than most people in here will ever have, instead of a festival.

  • @Mcartney13 Exactly!!!! You made me laugh out loud!!

  • @Mcartney13 STOP THIS!!!!!!!!!!! Justin heeft ook gevoelens stomme klootzak! karma zal achter u komen! jij hebt mijn zaterdagavond kapot gemaakt! Vanavond doe ik kaka op u hoofd

  • @Mcartney13 ...that's cool,my 13 yr. old grand son is into the oldies & some stuff from the 80's like vandals& nofx...check out the new york dolls, maybe their song trash,if you like old punk.

  • @Mcartney13 dont defile the sanctity of this piece and just watch the fucking video peacefully

  • @Mcartney13 better make that 10,339 :D

  • @Mcartney13 Justin Bieber???? Chi è?

  • @Mcartney13 dammit i scroll down this stupid meme is the first thing i see. stop mentioning his name in every fucking video

  • Boooo.. No full drum solo.. You should be ashamed

  • Simply incredible!!!

  • love this

  • Hey I'm only in 7th grade about a month ago I was listening to my iPod my friend ask what I'm listening to I say Santana he said who then and there I realized 99% of kids older and younger than me have never heard of Santana and other bands from 1969 today was the tallent show I played this song on the drums with the solo included most of the kids said it was amazing some said that was horrible the kids that said I was horrible have no idea what music is

  • @ian35yo You know what's worse? The army of the "I am only xx but I listen to Mozart" or whatever people on youtube. Who gives a shit? Music is about personal preference. What a fucking surprise, kids in 2012 don't know bands from 1969? It's understandable. That's why it's called "popular" culture. Do you think kids in 2040 will know who Eminem was? No they will listen to some jungle-trance-speedmetal-dubstep-jazz-opera combo shitmusic on they iPod Buttplugs. Give me a fucking break.

  • @ThatRubikGuy Let'er rip dog. It's no worse than us 40-something-going-grey-fast-I-better-type fast-or-I'll-forget-fast MFs that spew mucky middle aged pathos. That's what this is all about.I want to hear what these kids got to say.I want to hear what the disenfranchised-occupy-tea-slurpin'-been-displaced-at the-job-by-foreigners got to say. It's somewhat of an open-ended system. That's the beauty of it.Probably one of the only places you can tell people your 'stance' on things.;-)

  • @ian35yo i hope you grow up to revive good music like this.

  • @defergerth thanks ill try ive been playing the who led zeppelin hendrix and santana of course i also play guitar but im not the best at it i mainly play percusion but thanks for the support

  • @ian35yo santana is best interpreted through guitar

its his guitar playing that makes the band as a whole a trademark

  • @ian35yo

Hey man, if you manage to play such a hard solo at your age, you'll become big really soon, the hard part of this song on the drum, is the fact that it's really extremely groovy, so you need to sneak into the rythm, or you'll lose it !

Well whatever good job, and I'll tell you one thing, age doesn't matter don't brag about it =)

  • @ian35yo It's ok. We were listening to our teacher talk about Woodstock one day in english class and when he mentioned Santana, a stupid white kid thought he was talking about the rapper Julez Santana, who wasn't even alive in '69

  • @ian35yo awwww cute

  • @tikinparmar thank you ive been playing lots of 1969 bands i think santana was better off back then than he i now

  • pure art!

  • if a time machine is ever invented first place im going is woodstock, my father went and simply said that it was the best thing ever.

  • This is greatness.

  • If only I had a time machine.

  • quien es el baterista?

  • @cocoman290 Michael Shrieve.

  • @cocoman290 , no duro mucho por lo que me contaron era muy joven y estuvo metido en el tema de las drogas y falleció .

  • @TheSofiaMicaela Sigue vivo, sin meterse drogas, solo que gordo y viejo :)

  • The best part of this song: No Vocals

  • this song is a part of my childhood cuz my father showed me this when i was 10

    michale shrieve is awesome

  • Hallo Dad, danke für den link ..Augenweide und Ohrenschmaus

  • Before we get all gooey Euro-centric over the drummer, just remember why he's there on stage , because a poor Mexican kid from Tijuana with a huge amount of talent and creativity learn to play the guitar and created basically the only Latin/Soul/Rock band that made it to the top AKA CARLOS Santana , Musician , song writer , arranger ,producer, band leader and STILL #1 to his fans .... but that guy can play da drums .

  • THAT DRUMMER IS FUCKING INSANE!

  • No need for crowd security , cos like the musicians who know how to play, the people knew how to have fun, with out being morons wanting to stab others, or rush the band... Hold this event today, you see just as many security as patrons..

  • i need a time machine! omfg!

  • @drummaskills105 Yeah, I saw these guys at Altamont with Airplane,Stones,& Greatful Dead & they were the best band By Far!

  • @Skipinkingman I thought the Grateful Dead didn't preform at Altamont?

  • who is the drummer?

  • @pablitus06 Michael Shrieve is his name. this drum solo is legendary! it has been named the best drum solo ever recorded.

  • Was there a person in that video who wasn't high as shit! :D

  • timemachine plz

  • well santana

  • I would like Grew up in 70's

  • Blimey - Santana were hot! - but all of them, not just Santana himself.

  • I wish I had been there.

  • I didn't know that Kevin Bacon played drums for Santana! XD

  • My great uncles smoked with em

  • Classic

  • mexican talent!!!!!!!........me gusta mas esta version por q suena mas heavy!!

  • @helldante100 Sup Beaner!

  • @MyAccount4TrollingU fatass redneck.

  • Csúcs, megunhatatlan ritmusok!!!

  • Music like this is coming back in a big way. YOU just have to go looking for it. I just heard about the Black Keys a year ago and they've been pumping out dank music for years.

  • The people who clicked "dislike" should be drug out into the street and shot.

  • @futurefighter13 Or Shot out to the street & Drugged!

  • @futurefighter13 why, because they have differen opinions than you? what happened to peace, love, and music?
