I don't follow F1 much, but remember Salazar in Indy Cars and he always seemed to be in the middle of some mess, including a couple where he hurt himself pretty badly. He was already in his late 30s by that time and it was clearly time for him to hang up his helmet, but I used to think "this is one guy who's determined to kill himself in a race car". Salazar was lucky enough to get in a crash that was bad enough to end his career but not bad enough to kill him.
I like the way Piquet is already trying to climb out of the car to go after Salazar before his car even stops moving. I would have liked to hear that argument, one guy yelling in Spanish and the other in Portuguese. I wonder if they could understand each other.
@RRaquello hahaha! I don't know if they could understand whole phrases but I bet that they could understand some "cursing words" from each other because some of these words are very similar in both languages like "filho da puta" in portuguese and "hijo de puta" in spanish.
Piquet is still a very hot tempered and jealous guy, always saying bullshit on TV about one of the best pilots ever: Ayrton Senna. He never accepted the condition of being the second best pilot Brazil had.
@douglashudson3111 Você está sendo mau educado viu, postou no meu perfil e insiste que cazuza é o cara como vocês dizem.Tudo bem já vi muito mau educado aqui no you tube, mais um e menos um em não discuto mais.
The lesson here is not to fight while wearing a helmet and overalls. Your punches will not hurt and your kicks will have woeful reach. Salazar was definitely embarrassed about taking off Piquet, the man who got him into F1, but Salazar ended up being a bit of a hero for taking Piquet off and saving BMW from an embarrassing home race since Piquet's BMW engine was about to blow soon anyway
@simoncase no, Salazar was a lap down. It was on lap 22, and Piquet had a 25 second lead over Patrick Tambay. Nelson was only half a lap away from his first ever scheduled refuelling pit stop. He needed to overlap Eliseo in order to get the margin for his pit stop.
That may be so, but how many times has Piquet made a prat of himself over the years? And also, when people discuss the greats of the 80's (Senna, Prost, Mansell), Piquet's name is hardly mentioned, DESPITE being a so called triple world champion.
@c0r4z0n35 Well yeah, but Murray Walker has achieved near legendary status for his commentary goofs. He's a man who once declared "The first five places are filled with five completely different cars", and asked Bernie Ecclestone in an interview what his most memorable moment after buying Ferrari was. Ecclestone actually owned Brabham, and replied "I don't remember buying Ferrari".
sexteta - How was that incident in 1998 Spa a 50/50. If there was such thing as 1000%, id put all of it as DCs fault. He lifted completely off the gas in heavy rain on the racing line. A race ban wouldve been a worthy punishment.
are you fucking kidding me? coulthard was breaking for a corner in heavy rain. michael was just a lot faster than him on the day and was breaking a lot later, and when he tried passing coulthard, he misjudged. bottom line, racing incident. unlucky for schumi.
DC was in the middle of the straight leading up to pouhon, he got a radio call saying Michael was behind so he lifted not knowing where he was and Schuey smashed into the back of him. DC himself has said that what he did that day - lifting on the racing line - was a stupid thing to do. Entirely DC's fault.
It was actually Schumacher,.. who hit the back of Coulthard in driving rain. Schumacher stormed up the pits to the Scots garage and shared a few angry words accusing the Scot of trying to kill him.
Indeed it was! My mind had obviously associated Coulthard with being pissed off as that would have been the logical result considering Schumie was at fault. Or was he? Discuss. ;-)
For once Schumacher wasn't at fault. I was watching the race live. I distinctly remember the look of thunder on his face as he stormed up the pits. Though frankly I can't blame Coulthard; the conditions that day were just awful; very, very poor visibility. It WAS fun to watch though; the cocky German out of the race with a second-hand, but brand new scarlet tricycle, and a shocked Scot wishing he'd never got out of bed that day. Priceless. :P
Yeah a 50/50. Although if i drove into the back of someone in the rain i reckon my insurance company wouldn't pay out! If only Schumie had got through the mechanics and lamped him. My money would have been on Coulthard in that fight any day.
