Actually it IS a shoebox. Since I actually have a 55 bel air, I know what the tri-fives are sometimes referred to. One of those descriptions are "shoebox" cars. I'm not saying that the earlier years are not called that, I'm just saying that the 55-57 years are as well. Having completely restored 3 of them since I was 15, I should be qualified to comment about this with at least some intelligence. No ill thoughts intended :)

supercharger looks better personally to see that sticking out of the hood looks crazy. but that personally. yeah it takes some power but not crazy amounts. and a supercharger can ad anywhere from 35%-85% of power depends on the engine and blower size.

Larger turbos, take FOREVER to spool up.

And they cost a conciderable amount more than a supercharger.

And modifications like that would be difficult.

A supercharger, however, produces power on "tap." They cost less, and last longer than turbos, and put more power through the torque range than large or small turbos.

And to power a supercharger, it uses only the amount required for the fan.
