I find it funny that when he said it was the most advanced cleaning system we offer today it nearly reversed off the table LOL! I can't argue I love Roomba's and this ones no exception.
Roomba doesn't run on a grid on purpose. It uses a random pattern to ensure every part of the room gets clean. Robots that run on a grid can leave lines and debris. It also causes the vacuum to go over the same spots several times, which can really help.
the disappointment is that it doesn't use more advanced navigation algorithms like its competitors now do that know exactly where they are in the room and run on a grid. the new roombas like my 530s just bounce around at random, cleaning some spots three or four times, and missing others on a pass.
