you do not have the boat proped right because i have that same motor and it is reach top rpm to fast consider a bigger pitch prop and try triming it more to stop the roster tails.

ya its becaose the engine shaft was to long and caused the rooster tails. I now have a new boat. It is a trophy 17ft. 20th anniversery eddition with a 90 hp mercury motor.

Nice boat/motor It seems like it should be going a bit faster though esp. with a small kid driving. I''ve had smaller engines not as new/nice as that Mercury push a Jon boat at a better speed, it shouldn't be rooster tailing that much in the wake either, seems like the engine shaft may be too long or not trimmed correctly? Not bashing, still a very cool video!

lmao thats not a rooster tail its actually a huge amout of drag twhat this means is that you cavitation plate is not level with the bottom of the boat raise the motor an inch or twon and you will get alot more speed not that your looking for it :) if you actually car ill send u a pic diagram of how high the motor should be :)

you must have a long shaft motor on a transom for a short shaft, that's the cavitation plate throwing up the rooster tail. if you get the cavitation plate + / - 1" to the bottom of the transom it will preform even better.
