@60sisthashit IDK who you are but yes I have saved lives, earned Purple hearts doing it. She is/was a political pawn. And before you go on to say I'm bias against women, I believe they have every right to serve. This is just a case of too high an award given because she was female. Oh and it was MY platoon. So don't know how much more first hand you can get.

For those of you who idolize her, the real story is a women went on a patrol cause there was no on else. Then they got in contact where she did below average treatments and got a silver star for political reasons. And for any of you who are going to try to argue it I WAS THERE!!! Other soldier did above and beyond her and got hand shakes or coins along wiht the saying "good job paratrooper" Just another example of who there are two different standards in the army today.

in my opinion that Silver Star should be a Medal of Honor and it would be if she was a guy. im glad her unit recognized her actions but eighty deuce as well as the rest of the US Military needs to wake up and smell the 21st century. SHE risked more and SHE saved more lives than any of the still living OEF/OIF Medal of Honor Recipients IN MY OPINION.

i met then private brown in afghanistan during my deployment. she's cuter in person. little did i know she'd go on to win the silver star. i pulled shit burn duty with a guy from her medic unit and he told me he he'd been holding a torch for this girl for a while and still was. lol i could see why even then but yea, this Monica Brown. what a soldier. You didn't do it because of your training. I believe you did it because you love the guys and see them as your own brothers. A mother's instinct too if I may add. A vindication of the military policy change of putting women in combat. But then again guys will go crazy if you are ever hurt. But let's not forget the darker aspect, ie, crimes perpetrated against the female counterparts in the military itself! That have to change.
