Thanks for the video. I now have a strategy to pass this...I forgot that Rage of the Gods doesn't let your magic meter go down. I am trying to beat it on Hard mode in the PS3 version. I beat the original back in the day but I can't remember how. Don't you think though that the difficulty overall rises significantly in the final 2 battles as compared to the rest of the game? I remember that being my biggest complaint of the game, that and only having 3 bosses.

@hunkydoryorder, listen bro ive hugged my family 3 times while army of hades was cast and my meter didnt reach half way full when it was completely empty. You hug them once and your meter goes from basically halfway to full? If you are on god mode yours is not the same as mine.
Im playing god mode trying to beat this part right now and i can verify that this video is NOT god mode, irishgolftimes is correct, rage of gods does not charge this fast when hugging your family or casting army of hades.
Not God mode....ROG does not charge up that quick when you call Hades souls.....+ u don't even have maximum health. Finished it well but you'll get no credit here for saying it's God mode when it clearly isn't.
If you care to scroll through the comments @irishgolftimes you'll see many people who've used this strategy to beat this game on god mode.
Strategy is what I do. The fastest, the best / most effective possible.
Just because you can't manage it doesn't mean it can't be done.

This is still my favorite part of ANY God of War game. He murdered his own family, and now he has to face his demons head on by stopping hordes of himself trying to do the same. Having to hug your family and sacrifice your own health to save their lives added that extra bit of emotion that made this such an intense battle.

Part 2 and 3 drove me nuts for quite some time. It would glitch upon loading the final Ares fight, which really sucked after beating that part with the family. But once u beat Ares on God mode u feel like the man for at least a few weeks lol.
Guys shut the hell up! If you think that this is not in God Mode because you are so jealous then switch video...even if it's not in God Mode it still remains a video to watch and not to criticize with haters...what's more I have read NO comment till now that could clearly explain why that's not God Mode!

@mdanielx yo por lo lento q se recuperan los clones diria q ha de ser en un nivel abajo del god mode, pero la técnica q el utiliza es la correcta, los mantienes a raya lo más q puedas con la pluma de prometeo y luego utilizas la furia de los dioses(1ro las almas de hades luego luego la furia de poseidon, otra furia de poseidon, luego almas de hades y un ultimo furia de poseidon), otra vez mantienes a raya con pluma de prometeo, abrazando a la mujer es como se carga rapido la furia de los dioses

Basically Due to the 'Rage of the Gods' phases of the battle.. Magic doesn't deplete whilst 'RotG' is activated.. also you accumulate magic orbs at the same time.

it took me 3 freagin hours to get past this the first time i tried in hard mode and then when i finally got past it the game froze and i cudn't ascend to a god and finish the game then i saw this and finished it in 15 minutes all 3 battles. thank you.
i tried like this: max your blade of chaos,then start the batlle with full rage of the gods. then,keep using the poseidon's rage until the rage of the gods is over.I made more then 600 combo with this.
GOW1 is a easy game even in god mod... until this part. I didn't know that you can increase the rage meter by hubbing the family, thanks for the tip ;)
Well @MultiJapan, that's pretty much the key to clearing this level...
You kill alot and Hug alot in a short space of time.
Rage of the Gods (blue within helmet icon) increases with each kill and uniquely (only here) by hugging your family. But only increases to the degree that their health has depleted prior to hugging.
When the helmet icon is fully filled you again have the option of triggering RotG's which allows a, no depletion of magic whilst active.
Wow i remember i once played resident evil 4 with hunk in the mercenaries and in the first place, the town, i had 50 seconds left and no more zombies appeared, jeje.
I've finally beaten this on God mode and I'm black guy who does not play video games much! I know you all can do this. Attack ALL of the clones and they will come after you and not your family because they know your a threat! You MUST also know Kratos tactic moves before you can do this and if you do not then you will never beat this on God mode. Kratos move tactics are so AMAZING that some of you maybe have no idea. It's shown in this video. PEACE.
it took me 40 mins to kill those fucking mad kratos(using L1+square) but without knowing that rage of god could recharge fast while hugging that fucking mother and daughter who gavwe me hard time hahahahaha....

yea, the next battle is reflexive and more intuition based with alot of cursing at his unblockable, spit fire into face move. It's a horny bitch of a challange, learning where to place yourself to prevent it from happening.
Simply, there's no shortcuts to defeating him... No magic etc.
@hopealanka: it's easier than this. Give the final stage a few goes so you can spot which Ares move he is setting up for (most can be blocked and some have a delay so you release block just as the hit comes in). It's more about concentration than skill in the final Ares stage.
This is the prize for hugging alot and killing alot in a short space of time...
fully recharging your 'Rage of the Gods' which when activated allows unlimited magic for the duration, of it's activation. (Your magic meter doesn't deplete).
@hunkydoryorder. you're pretty good. i never thought of that. its my first time to play the god mode. i thought i can be proud of the fact that even i face this ares, i have max all my gears but its ashame that i forgot to juice up my rage of gods, too bad its not like god of war 2 which i failed to beat as well. so i guess by the gods, ill just hope that athena will be on my side. i guess im a god of failure.

It could be that you're not allowing Kratos' family to loose health first @greatgreatgrangdad.
Your ROTG increases proportionally to their being healed.. not how much you hug them par se.

it took me 3 freagin hours to get past this the first time i tried in hard mode and then when i finally got past it the game froze and i cudn't ascend to a god and finish the game then i saw this and finished it in 15 minutes all 3 battles. thank you.

i tried like this: max your blade of chaos,then start the batlle with full rage of the gods. then,keep using the poseidon's rage until the rage of the gods is over.I made more then 600 combo with this.

GOW1 is a easy game even in god mod... until this part. I didn't know that you can increase the rage meter by hubbing the family, thanks for the tip ;)

Well @MultiJapan, that's pretty much the key to clearing this level...
You kill alot and Hug alot in a short space of time.
Rage of the Gods (blue within helmet icon) increases with each kill and uniquely (only here) by hugging your family. But only increases to the degree that their health has depleted prior to hugging.
When the helmet icon is fully filled you again have the option of triggering RotG's which allows a, no depletion of magic whilst active.
i.e. use magic to kill a lot, quickly.

I've finally beaten this on God mode and I'm black guy who does not play video games much! I know you all can do this. Attack ALL of the clones and they will come after you and not your family because they know your a threat! You MUST also know Kratos tactic moves before you can do this and if you do not then you will never beat this on God mode. Kratos move tactics are so AMAZING that some of you maybe have no idea. It's shown in this video. PEACE.

Maan this is hard! But yes, now that I've seen someone complete this maybe i can do it too. Last attempt was like 6 months ago and i made it to the part where the artemis blade kratos appear. can you tell how hard the last battle with ares is? can it be even compared to this fight?

yea, the next battle is reflexive and more intuition based with alot of cursing at his unblockable, spit fire into face move. It's a horny bitch of a challange, learning where to place yourself to prevent it from happening.
Simply, there's no shortcuts to defeating him... No magic etc.

@hopealanka: it's easier than this. Give the final stage a few goes so you can spot which Ares move he is setting up for (most can be blocked and some have a delay so you release block just as the hit comes in). It's more about concentration than skill in the final Ares stage.

This is the prize for hugging alot and killing alot in a short space of time...
fully recharging your 'Rage of the Gods' which when activated allows unlimited magic for the duration, of it's activation. (Your magic meter doesn't deplete).
also you get random Magic orbs from the slain.

@hunkydoryorder. you're pretty good. i never thought of that. its my first time to play the god mode. i thought i can be proud of the fact that even i face this ares, i have max all my gears but its ashame that i forgot to juice up my rage of gods, too bad its not like god of war 2 which i failed to beat as well. so i guess by the gods, ill just hope that athena will be on my side. i guess im a god of failure.
