In Skyrim (a game) there are guards walking around. And they have like 5 standard lines NPC's say in games. In this case they say stuff like: I was an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee. Or: I used to be just like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Therefore, these jokes exist. Its best to just ignore it, cause they wont stop saying it any time soon...
