love this song.heard it a few yrs ago while in prison a lad from the lebanon played it day and night in the cell next to me..have great memories from this song..
I am glad the commentator noted that it was 'zombies night', as the mostly lifeless audience was one of the first things I noticed upon watching this video.
Still have the original single 45 of this. I recall the being informed there were 2 versions of it; one more bass guitar the other synth. Couldn't afford both, so went for the synth. Bought it from Memrydiscs in Hounslow. The best record shop there ever was & sadly no longer with us. Definitely better days!
back in the day...it was a fresh sound along with the German place I was stationed at - BERLIN, WEST GER. I was a GI, lost in all the new music and the hashish....ahhhh, what wonderful memories! great tunes...especially from Sniff......
@Docadolf --Thank you so much. Yes, I was...about my heart on my sleeve. I drifted back to a long ago relationship and the unique feelings experienced.
When I was in high school in the eighties,I was listening to songs like this, and other greats from the 60's & 70's.I didn't care for 99% of the 80's stuff. I have grown to have a love for many songs from the 80's,but after about 1989, there is hardly anything I can even bear to listen to.
@PrAnG2000 We didn't get top 40 hits while living in the Alberta mountains, so I'd listen to this while driving to Saskatchewan during summer vacation (early teens). What a great driving groove. Such a great song...timeless.
@perpetual61 -- AMEN!!! It makes you feel sooo good. Can't you just see yourself, as it probably was, driving down the city streets into the night with your favorite girl sitting to your right. Cool air blowing on the both of your faces, the aroma of her perfume mixing with your cologne, as this tune blasts on the your radio. Living forever was then and there, nothing seemed to matter but that moment with her hand... nestled in yours. God, it felt great. :)
GIRLS Kick Ass!!! My girl, SusieQ, had a 1968 GTO special edition, tach on the hood;;;;Hurst lock out reverse, and a Hemmi......PLUS she managed to get the guys to install a roll bar?????? Only so she could RUN them off the road,,,,,,,???=PS: In her Cheerleading skirt, with kelly shoes on..yet, as much as we made fun of her...I guess she won in the end....mercury switches-NO brake lights=
farm cop lost her track.. Plus this song...she had and amp in the glove box guaranteed to blow your mind!
However, Tipper Gore complained and it was banned. Tipper divoreced Al 30 years later and started a topless pancake joint in San Antonio. It was called..."Tipper and Tim Duncan's House of Pancakes and Tits"

The voice is Steve Wright. You may be right that James May did a stint on TOTP but this is TOTP2 which was voiced by Steve Wright. TOTP2 was simply a rehash of old TOTP footage but without the original links.

I've been searching for this song for ages, thank you for posting, yes indeed it should of been number one, on the pop charts, that's quite unfortunate
It got to TOTP based on its radio coverage, but due to a manufacturing problem there weren't any vinyl singles available after the TOTP performance, hence it's poor charting.

it is really magnificent song & performance. it is a sound which is the calibre of queen, led zep, who & the like. i know one of the lead guitars (with reddish jacket) whose name is mick dyche with whom i shared a flat in London in mid-1970's. he was playing in a group named harlot. in the early 70's he played with wild turkey. he is a great guitar player. does anyone know what's he doing and whereabouts?
