Did anyone notice that at 4:20 into the video, the cash register reads 4:20...which is two large coffees at hava java (where that portion of the video was shot)...and the clock on the wall reads 4:20. Subliminal messaging at its finest.
I Love Last.fm similar artists. I am 14 and all the music you ever hear is dubstep and I love this, I went on last.fm to find similar artists to James Vincent Mcmorrow and now I searched Dan Mangan and found these. LOVE IT!
Just wondering if anyone noticed that at 1:39, Tim has a Capo on his guitar, but in the rest of the video, there is no Capo. I take it the live performance shots aren't all from Yer Spring.
This is the concert I attended. They are absolutely electric. I gained a HELL of a lot of respect for them as a band that night. Hope to do it again soon!
Right now...Hey Rosetta! i hear my voice whine:"I need to hear some GOOD music...(whine-ier), it's been so long since anything m~o~v~e~d me" and the universe snickered told me to shut my piehole, stop my whining and listen to Hey Rosetta! GOOD MUSIC, your sound is so awesome, you m~o~v~e~d me. I'm gonna stop there before I develop a full blown man-crush. -New Fan in Austin, TX
Let the loser up, Leeet the loser up, Let's get him upp, let's get him upp, let's get him uppp, let's get him upp, let's get him upp, let's get him up. Perfect bittersweet finish:)
@danyyo2 There's a lot to write about this song and not enough room so I'll just try to make it brief. It's about a renewal of hope, a renewal of life (hence the reason it's called yer "spring", spring is the season of rebirth). Specifically, it talks about people who spend time fooling around and drinking at bars. Then he comes to the realization that this is not helping him in life at all, and has an epiphany of sorts at the end. Hope that helps a bit.
Love this song, beautiful music. Has anyone else noticed at 4:22, in the coffee shop scene, that the cash register reads 4.20 and the clock on the wall to the right reads 4:20?
Wish more people would make music as good as this.
victoria BC - just a few weeks ago - during thier set - sparklers started appearing through the crowd - up in the air - many many of them - the band all smiled and carried on as the fans raised them in an act of 'WOW' ! it was one of the best concert experiences of my life. thank you hey rosetta! you steal the show - where ever you are.
A band with potential, but I'm not completely sold. The little interlude in the middle was out of place, I'm not sure whether they're a pop, rock, or punk band...the styles clash together but the thought is there.
@xiaosainzboy POTENTIAL? I'm not completely sold on your music knowledge. Who are you to comment on if the interlude in the middle "was out of place" or "the styles clash." You clearly are a fool. I on the other hand along with many others feel this song is beautifully written. They have an amazing ability to write these charismatic songs with so many different layers and textures. They breathe so much life into every song with their unique climaxes and alluring lyrics.
@stephisapirate6 I get that you like the band, and as a matter of fact I do too. But are you saying that everything by this band is exemplary? Some things they do particularly well and some things might not be as well-polished ( considering that perfection even doesn't exist in music). I am in the wrong because I failed to post laudatory comments and failed to berate those that disliked this video? If you think everything you listen to is PERFECTION then you're not listening closely enough.
@xiaosainzboy What I'm saying is that this band has a shit load more than just potential. So don't be so quick to jam them into one of your generalized music genres. Don't claim that I'm saying perfection when I tell you how amazing this band really is. Having a well-polished album does not mean it is perfection either. Clearly we have different opinions on the quality of their music.
@xiaosainzboy I can't speak for anyone else, but yes, I am saying that everything this band does is exemplary. I have all four of their albums and every single song is phenomenal. So then you might say "oh sure, they can do well in the comfort of the studio" but sure enough, they are the best live band I have ever seen. As for your thoughts on this song, if you want a song that sounds the same the whole way through, go listen to Nickelback and leave the good music for folks who appreciate it.
Every time I go back and listen to the new album I find stuff that I completely missed. I love them because they sound similar to some of the stuff out there today, but have their own sound that totally puts other mainstream bands to shame. I am really hoping the break out in the U.S. because they don't deserve the same fate other clearly immensely talented bands from Canada have had to deal with.
Thanks guys, never thought twice about buying the new album, and it is way more than I expected!
When I saw the first dude with the sparkler, I thought "please don't be a video where they show a lot of "real" people holding sparklers", but it was, sadly.
would I be correct to assume the ballet scenes are kittiwake dance theatre's nutcracker performance? I didn't get to see their nutcraker this year but that totally looks like the arts and culture centre in st. john's.

I love how they're so great and still just regular people. Saw most of the band at the Breezeway last night, enjoying the Pathological Lovers like everyone else, undisturbed.
I imagine in a few years they'll have hit it big and won't be able to do that anymore.
