  • i feel sorry for Katherine of Aragon but i like Queen Anne also...and the other queens. There is something special about Anne though :)

  • because well I know that all people in Britian are Church of England. But she made a difference in History. She gave England one of it's best Queens. Elizabeth the 1st. Also in her own way she helped to shape the nation of Britian. She showed that women could be just as strong as men. She was wrongfully accudsed and went her death bravely. I just hope that one day she can be buried in way in which to honor a Queen of England.

  • Her Majesty Queen Anne is one of my favorite histoical figuers. Ever since I first learned about King Henry the 8th in my world history class back in high school I grew curiouse about him. So I did my resurch and found out more. But when I read about each Queen. Anne stud to me among all the others. Knowning what it was like to be different to people at court b/c she was English but yet had not been rised there. My point is that Queen Anne never be forgotten for wat she did. I can't say Country

  • Actually her father was the one who sentenced her to death including her uncle.

  • She gave birth to two stillborns and put up with the Kings affairs. She didn't deserve death, especially angered by the release of her father who walked away scott free. Her death was a set up, she was framed. It's so very sad, that such a life was wasted :-( and yet she produced what I believe was the best Queen of England. The king was very selfish, although I admire his achievement- poor Catherine of Aragon was too tragically stripped and thrown away. She I truly admired. :-( very sad.

  • @sezums She didn't put up with the Kings affairs. She was actually very vocal about them, and made it clear that she wouldn't just roll over like Catherine did.

  • She was so influential in many ways and unarguably the most influential queen Henry had. She was about 29 at her execution. She I think was the most deserving of all the wives and she gave England the longest ruling sovereign... I admire her

  • I: Anne Boleyn was a strong, wise and very beautiful for those times woman, and she knew how to make a King fall in love with her, which was a rare fact for a simple woman of the court, and that is why people believed her to be a witch - thinking she put a spell on the King so he would love her and divorce Katherine of Aragon.

  • II: Rumours were also spread about Anne having six fingers on one of her hand, or having skin problem [being an evidence of her being a witch], but let's not forget that Kind Henry loved his mistresses to be beautiful in every way, so I don’t believe that he would fall in love with someone who had one finger in bonus to the others.

  • III: I think he loved Anne because she was different; she picked up a few good flirting techniques in France where women at court acted slightly different at the time and were freer than English women.

  • IV: Mary Tudor [known as Bloody Mary] was an amazing figure herself and was seen, being the daughter of Katherine, as a true princess. And the only reason why she burned, tortured and killed in other different ways that many people was not because she flipped due to what happened to her in her life, but because she believe in the Roman Church and she wanted to put her country back to the road of Heaven.

  • V:Mary Boleyn was not called the Great Prostitute because she slept with the King, as many of the shows and movies tell the story. Sleeping with the King was actually seen as a blessing and a great honour. Mary started being called as the Great Prostitute in France where she slightly whored herself to the left and to the right at the court.

  • @AWickedMind. If you knew what Mary Tudor went through with her father, you wouldn't be calling her a spawn. I don't condone Mary for burning so many people like that, but in order for you to justify calling her a spawn, you had better know all the facts that led to what Mary became, I guarantee you, if you had suffered like she and Elizabeth did, then you would snap too, Elizabeth didn't snap though she fought, but Mary was a sad figure.

  • Who is dubbing the voice? Bernard Manning!

  • the place where the guy is standing at beggining henrys wife excuted there anne boleyn i think

  • the place where that guy was standing at beggining ive stood there behind him is the church i went there for class trip in year 5 im still in year 5

  • Anne Boleyn is my personal favorite of the 6 wives, though Katherine of Aragon comes in 2nd. But where Katherine fought for tradition, Anne was a revolutionist, and it took a lot of guts to express "heretic" opinions back in those days, especially if you were a woman. Plus, her daughter went on to become the great Queen Elizabeth I, while Katherine's spawn was to be known as Bloody Mary.

  • wasnt it Anne Boleyn that gave birth to Princess Elizabeth later to be Queen Elizabeth I after Queen Mary's death?

  • @Racingnut24 yeah! Anne Boleyn was mother of Elizabeth I, the greatest Queen ever!

  • yeah it was

  • Long live Queen Anne Boleyn!!!

  • Love her.

  • Anne Boleyn was obviously not a saint. But she was a very strong women who knew what she wanted and knew how to get it. I thinkher more liberal thinking and attitude is what caused people to see her a threat. Also, even if it's not completely historically accurate, I <3 the other boleyn girl!

  • Anne Boleyn , seems to have been a brave strong woman who did what she had to do to do to get where she wanted and needed to be.

Although she is portraid as abit of a control freak and a betrayer ( as she slept with henry even though she knew her sister loved him and was pregnant with his child) she still was under alot of pressure from her father and uncle to produce a male heir and keep the kings affection and she did produce the strong Queen Elizabeth who ruled over England for many years

  • I agree but Mary Boleyn didn't love the king. She was only his mistress.

  • I also researched that she was a big whore/prostitute, according to the french king at the time.

  • That does'nt mean she didn't love him. It means she was his mistress. She slept with him. She had to have some amount of love for him to sleep with him...

  • No. If King want to have sex with you, he got it. You can't say NO because King is King.

  • So, Henry is a rapist now? There is absolutley no evidence to support the fact that Henry ever raped any of his mistress'. This is just a story fabricated by the media to make thier films and stories intresting. You can say no to a king. It may not turn out well. Anne Boleyn refused Henry thier first years of courtship. She didn't lvoe him, so she didn't sleep with him. He wouldn't have abused his power, at least not twords the women he though he loved.

  • You are completely wrong about that Mary was his Mistress (sex only) way before Anne was on the scene. Also there is no contemporary evidence that Mary bore any of hischildren. Please don't believe in what Phillipa Gregorry writes, her books are stories. Read a proper biography of Anne, not the crap she churns out. You will never look back.

  • Interesting clip. I do believe that, while Anne Boleyn was no saint - and probably was a bit of a bitch - she was certainly innocent of the accusations against her that led to her death. She was a smart woman, and didn't deserve to die. But she left an amazing legacy in Queen Elizabeth I.

  • Anne was no saint, but definitely she wasn't bitch IMHO

  • Anne is my fave too! I respect her!

  • ANNE BOLEYN FOREVER!

    <3

  • ANNEBOLEYN.

    QUEENOFENGLAND;

    &MOTHER.OF.ELiZABETH.1ST.

    RiP.

  • Anne is my fave Queen.

  • I love her too! Anne was wonderful and brave woman!

  • Amen :)

  • same here!

  • @YeOldeTune what about Elizabeth I?

  • @evaperonfan I like Elizabeth too but Anne runs first. I like the period 1500-1550 more due to the music, the fashion (you know, the french and english hoods and so on)

  • oh yeah.....

  • Anne intrigues me and is definitely in my top 3, but Catalina has my vote

  • A longer marriage does not necessarily mean that she was the most significant wife. And the terms you endorsed, e.g. academic, loyal, pious, honest, consort, can easily apply to Henrys other wives, namely Anne Boleyn and Katherine Parr. Parrs role as regent was especially amazing considering she was not raised to perform such a function.

  • I agree...but I think the same goes for Anne?

  • Which part? The part about being raised to perform a role although receiving no formal training for such a task? Then yes I agree; Anne was remarkable in the fact that she was able to perform the functions of the consort and in a very competent manner although she had not been educated for this.

  • I think so to! Both of them were remarkable!

  • She was never regent, was she?

  • She made a nice speech (while pregnant) ! I'm sure it was inspiring. But she was no 'warrior Queen'. She had no strategic input into the battle, wonderful as she was, effectively all she did was PR!

  • ugh. You shouldn't be thumbed down for telling the truth!

  • I tried to give you a thumbsup, but YT won't let me

  • Aah never mind its the thought that counts!

  • Anne? No - only Henry's first and last wife were regents.

  • Yeah I thought so. As Henry's consort, apart from religious, what influence over affairs of state would she have had?

  • Lol sorry but I have to say so what...in all fairness, Anne Boleyn arguably achieved more than Catherine of Aragon's long reign just by marrying Henry.

Also, I agree with littlemisssunnydale, all Henry's wives were true queens to start. And everything else you mentioned...beaut, academic, loyal, pious ect. they are certainly applicable to certainly more than one wife. Anne Boleyn and Katherine Parr, definetly, but even Jane Seymour (Honest, loyal, pious, beaut) so there you are!

  • everything is relative Katharine!!! Catherine and Anne were sort of similar really, they just had different values. It seems to me Anne was one of the most unique among his wives, don't you agree?

  • well...who in particular and why?

  • But not in Spain!

I really do admire Catherine. But she was a product of her heritage and upbringing. Spain had had a long tradition of strong female rulers, all well educated, and Catherine was groomed to be one of them. When she came to England, she fufilled the same destiny, so to speak, in a different realm. She wasn't exactly unique, so although she did many admirable things they weren't as you say, unheard of.

  • But Katherines style of Queenship was unremarkable until she was forced to act in an unorthodox manner when the situation called for it (i.e. Flodden and the divorce). But aside from that her day to day life resembled that of other contemporary queens.

    (continue...)

  • ......

Henrys selection of Anne as his consort was based predominately on personal reasons and this had a significant impact on their relationship and Annes style of Queenship. Even the queen and kings apartments were moved closer together during Annes time as queen highlighting the intimate nature of the relationship and Annes role.

  • BTW - not to start an argument but Flodden was a Howard victory as the earl of Surrey and his sons Thomas and Edmund won the day and Surrey had been placed in charge of the north by Henry VIII before he went to France. Katherine's performed her role as regent well, but she was not responsible of sending Surrey north and of course as a woman did not actually fight and win the battle. She did travel north but got as far as Buckingham and disbanded her troops when she heard the news of the victory.

  • Furthermore a warrior queen was certainly not unheard of in England as the examples of Margaret de Anjou can attest. That woman was certainly feisty!

  • Another example is Mathilda, though she wasn't Queen, she did give it a try

  • Hey ummm...when you say widowed, do you mean Arthur?

Yeah I did mention Katherine Parr!

Lol didn't mean to bother you, I guess I just like dissucssing these things :)

  • yeah, i was talking about arthur

  • Okay.

Well Henry VII was rather keen to keep the dowry and the Spanish alliance, he wasn't going to get Catherine slip off.

  • But it was his dying wish that Henry marry Catherine, or so Henry claimed.

  • hey what does the E R stand for on his clothing

  • EIIR - 'Elizabeth Regina II' - Queen Elizabeth II

  • Yeah!!!!!!!!!

  • Why bother posting that on a video connecting directly to another figure?

  • She has my vote!
