  • Question : Can two particles been used in a row? (sorry for my bad english). For example : I read a book = Watashi wa hon o yumimasu. So my question : I read. (yeah that's the hole sentence). Watashi wa ('cause I'm the subjekt and the topic) o ('cause it's me READING) yumimasu. Would that be right or is it enough to use only one , and then which would that be. Watashi wa o yumimasu. OR Watashi wa yumimasu. Or Watashi o yumimasu. ? ... i'm confused.. do i have to use particals all the time?

  • Watashi o yomimasu - would mean that you read yourself or that something does/will read you - because the "o" is put after the thing that is having something done to it. "wa" or "ga" will go after the subject, so the think that is doing the verb.

"wa" is used to show the topic of the sentece so it doesn't necesarilly have to show what is doing the verb - but "ga" does

so when the thing doing the verbs is also the topic you use "wa" and drob the "ga"

    So it would be:

    watashi wa yomimasu

  • I think you could just say "Yumimasu". like Ikimasu it implies that its you who are doing something. Unless your trying to say "I can read" then it'd be different. ☻

  • that all is correct all that but you are not readin yourself lol

  • I still don't fully understand the purpose of "O". Please keep the examples and vid's comming so I can fully understand thanks.

  • If you guys keep picking out the flaws in the video..........DONT WATCH IT! .....geez

give him a break keep it up wisdom-sensei!

  • You wrote that...

    2. Watashi wa hon o yomimashita. = I will read a book

but doesn't it mean I read a book? I thought you said in the previous lesson that the ending mashita = past tense and masu = future tense.

  • Masu is also present tense. It's also spoken correctly, it appears to be a type on the screeshot.

  • this got me confused too.

  • he said lesson 5, why at the very beginning it it says lesson 4

  • actually. GAKKO is pronounce with like this (gak-ko) you would say both k. first gak, and then kko. Gakko

  • Also, watashi wa hon o yomimashita is "i read a book" past tense. although you did say yomimasu. still loving your vids! although, keep an eye on the smaller details!
