Ever been to a holiday in NZ after 8 years of living in London? The warmth of complete strangers on the streets, in the shops, etc is just mindblowing. I think this song/video captures that Kiwi spirit.
Thought I recognised the voice from the song "Anchor Me" (which happens to be my fav NZ song), amazing! Will look around for this Cd. Does Don ever tour NZ? Would love to hear this live at some stage.
I used to have a Front Lawn CD but lost it somewhere in Korea. It had some great songs including one (Claude Reinas?) and another sad song about a beach and dead brother. Any ideas? Can't find it on trademe.
The man was and is a true pop art genius. And his videos are as good as you'd expect from a film maker of his skills. It's important you keep going, Don - do you hear me?!?
It's interesting how this video is quite similar to the NZ Post ad from a few years back (which had an instrumental version of this song - if I'm correct).
I love this video, I love Don's work, some times when I listen to the album it makes me want to play my guitar, other times, I am so amazed by it that I want to hang up my guitar and never pick it up again. Amazing video, amazing song, thanks xx
Golphin actually. ????

What a wonderful song. That melody just takes my breath away. Don McGlashan has never got the recognition he truely deserves.

Hmm, Pooka, looks like he just got that recognition: two songs nominated for the Silver Scroll (including this one), and he won!

This guy has never got the recognition he truely deserves. His song writing is amazing. Hes up there with Neil Finn another fabulous NZ artist.

Loved the Mutton Birds and this new album is great too. Funny how some great performers do not get the recognition they deserve (see Ron Sexsmith).
