  • Any military installation by nature are to be deeply built underground and any surface defenses are to be independently powered and controlled and connected by fiber optics and wires with complete separated redundancies. And surface defenses are to be hardened and dispersed and ommi-directionally interlocking. Any damaged or destroyed surface defenses must easily be replaced with in stock replacements stockpiled several dozens of times so as to remain in fighting condition for a long term battle

  • Productions like this and Thunderbirds are GO! were the inspiration ofr "Team AMERICA, World Police."

  • lol project blue beam

  • Episode: Reflections in the water

SHADO discovers an underwater sphere, that's a perfect double of the Shado Control and all operatives

  • Why do the aliens bother? You could bring em down with an air rifle by the look of things....

  • did the UFO's ever hit any human target?? hahaha

  • At 1:12 we are allowed to hear at least a part of the kick-ass interceptor blast/roar as their engines wind up. Now let us hear a full quick reaction takeoff cycle, with only the bass guitar lightly in the background, like it was during the main sequence of the TV series!

  • ufos are too weak

  • PARA CUANDO HARAN LA PELICULA DE ESTA SERIE , HAGANLAAAA YAAA

WE ARE WAITING THE MOVIE FROM THIS TV SERIE ..... DO IT NOWWWWW

  • Ok...WTF....with all their technology, BOTH sides were REALLY LOUSY SHOTS....lol

  • UFOs chose the wrong planet to pick on!

  • I hope they keep the sound of the UFOs for the movie.

  • Say what you will but nothing will ever beat the inovative genius of Gerry Andersen and his production company. They were sci-fi visionaries with imagination and creativity bigger than the universe, No movies or TV shows of today can stack up to the fantastic mix of scale model filming, creative model design and live action sets and actors, No Computer graphics can match that, Andersen will go on as a TV icon for future generations, all it takes to be a diehard fan of these shows is imagination.

  • I recall the toys were expensive, but we were "rich kids" so I had to have it! I live in Las Vegas, and we had 3 TV channels, so this was must watch stuff as a kid, I was in 3rd grade so I was 8 or 9...Yea, I was jazzed up for sci-fi when Star Wars came out in 1976 I never got all the deep storylines concocted by the brilliant George Lucas, so you gotta laugh at Ultraman so cheesy but in 1974 I was freadked out by the UFO's...scared me actually!

  • I loved this show it was really creepy it was 1975 I think...my friend and I had toys, I had the battle tank that shot out a rocket after you hit a button and the lid flipped over, the rocket was shot across the room! I attached some cassette tape to it and shot it around my room as my cat watched and chased it...my friend had the rocket interceptor that shot one missle at the front, I wanted that toy more than life itself, but I couldn't get it...

  • God did I love this show as a kidI had all the toys, but now as I look at it and having spent a stint in the marines the inertceptors are a bit underarmed just one missile where skydiver had the unguided rockets and guns

  • in this episode they sent 50 ufos how did they shoot them all

  • Unlikely, but not impossible. SHADO has 3 interceptors + base defenses on the Moon, 4+ Skydivers, plus the mobile units, against what looks like 20-24 UFOs. They also don't have to annihilate both waves, just make it costly enough for the UFOs to call it off.

  • I want to blow a load on Ellises wig!

  • In one episode one of the UFOs was tracked doing something silly like 28,000,000 miles an hour. I would have thought that such technology would also have developed much better weapons systems? In any case someone worked it out that the aliens only needed to send 7 UFOs, and SHADO would have been finished.

  • I loved this show!

This clip displays a bit more accuracy than I remember.

I recall that hose interceptors would often fire a full spread and miss or just damage a UFO, sometimes at a cost of 1 or 2 interceptors blown away.

Ground mobile missions were pure suicide! Those guys were meat on the table.

Sky One often couldn't find a target, or flat out missed a cripple coming in that interceptors had damaged.

  • I think it's neat that they were able to use everyday objects to make the models they used. Like the dildos they used as missiles and stuck on the front of the space intercerceptors.

  • like shooting clay pidgoens

  • Talkative buch, aren't they?

  • I love this show but those moonbase interceptors were the shittiest of all attack craft.

  • I LOVED this show when I was a kid!!!

  • millons of mile across space in more advanced ships and they still can not shoot stright

  • @TheGhostbuster04 well, their targetting systems were based on their own technology. If we'd flown spinning ships that made that noise they would have hit us every time.

  • does anyone know which episode this was?

  • Reflections in the water

  • Funny how the aliens are such bad shots. It was a great show for it's time.

  • there was going to be a second season but got canceled the new moonbase became moonbase alpha

  • i loved that tv show !!!!!!

  • I love! It's a bit like watching a Live Captain Harlock or Space Yamato! Thigh uniforms and colored hair :) That looks a bit funny but i love that .

  • second season became space 1999

  • no it never.

  • would those missiles at the end have fired if on the moon? thought you need oxygen to launch them....zzzzzzzz.....also got the first 20 countdown mags are they worth anything? how sad is that!

  • had a corgi interceptor but it was lime green? never figured that one out! why wasn't it white! great fun shooting the rocket at the cat but not as much fun as the stuka dive bomber with a cap in it or the me109 with the battery powered engine....gosh getting retro now......

  • I've heard rumors of a UFO movie based on the original 70s TV series but can't seem to find any details. I just hope they maintain the original intergrity of the show when it makes it to the big screen. After the disastrous remakes of Land of the Lost and Dukes of Hazard, seeing another TV-to-movie conversion has me scared.

  • Good thing the aliens never invented stealth technology....

  • It ran in the States in 72 and 73. Best two episodes: Skydiver sub stuck on ocean bottom and Straker must divert SHADO transport plane to deal with UFO knowing plane carries life saving med supplies for his son. Defecting alien is killed and the son ends up dying. Wow, real drama.

  • its on sky tv at the moment

  • after a beating like that ..why would the aliens ever return?

  • cause they got more ships? and possibly large juggurnauts of guns and.... er.... firey stuff?

  • What year was this on TV. I remember watching it when I was 5 or 6 years old but not sure if it was a rerun of the serise.

The big fat missles sure are accurate while the UFO lasers never hit. Kinda like Battlestar Galactica.

  • Ran for 2 series, around '70 & '71, I think. Repeated often.

  • Looks like they got all the best battle footage from every series and stuck it together for 'the big one.'

  • Lol, i wonder did this serial gave idea to make world best video game: UFO Enemy Unknown?

  • haha yeah, thought the same :)

  • So the UFO's have the technology to travel millions of miles across space, but can't hit jack shit with their lasers when they arrive! Even as a kid I was REALLY hoping the UFO's would win............even just ONCE!! :-)

  • It's all that spinning around for millions of miles, making them all sick! Too delerious to even fire a lazser straight.

  • Only the outer ring spins. Cabin is stationary.

  • The UFOs will never win; behind all the bluster the Earth is UNITED, and defends it with a secret team, and moonbase, and defends the Earth with an international team, and hi-tech weaponry, since the 1970s.

  • It's a good thing those UFOs can't hit the broad side of a barn! LOL! Brings back memories.

  • I feel safe knowing that S.H.A.D.O.W has my back covered.

  • I liked this show as a kid, but now I realize what utter CRAP it was. Amazing what garbage they used to peddle on tv back in the 70s. It's only marginally better today, but not much.

  • thats what im talkin about

  • <3 i love u s

  • This is awesome! I remember watching this as a kid in Britain, I was 5 or 6 at the time. I remember I the Dinky Toys Interceptor from the series. For some strange reason, they made them this garish metallic green! I live in Canada now, and I have scoured the place looking for the series on DVD. I know it's out there because I saw it once in Edmonton, but I couldn't afford it. Almost 150.00!

  • ebay has then better priced

  • Ebay, they have them there, even have the ufo's, but are much more expensive now:) . Would be cool if they made the remake of this show into a movie, with the SP-FX we have today it would be cool. I had one of those green interceptors but I lost the Nuke that was spring loaded and shot out of the nose:)35 years ago:)

  • Yeah, that always bugged me how Dinky Toys made the Interceptors green (and also the Eagle Transporter from Space: 1999), but they never put out a SkyDiver... which actually WAS green!

  • I've said it b4 and i'll say it again.....If you were in a spaceship spinning like that, you'd be more interested in the sick bag than trying to hit anything.

  • why cant those crazy aliens ever hit anything with thier ray guns?

  • Agreed !

The number of times they've faced Sky One - they've never even bothered to take a shot at it !!

    Maybe they have learning difficulties......

  • great sequence

    love the music from Stingray

  • I vote for this scene as the greatest in the series. The UFO/Mobile battle comes in as a close second.

  • Aliens cant hit jack shit.

  • Lucky for us the Aliens were such crap shots ;-)

  • Say, did they ever have the UFO's as toys? I used to think those UFO'S were THE coolest things. Loved the noise they made flying through space!

  • Product Enterprise have started doing some, with an interceptor and also a Sky Striker I think.

  • The Interceptors were the best toys in the world!! I never had a SHADO Mobile though :(

  • They were great, although I always lost the missile. I had a SHADO Mobile too - really solid thing but the rubber tracks buggered quite quickly. Aside from that it is still in good nick - over 30 years later! Good old Dinky Toys!

  • Jog my memory, did the interceptors have some kinda Machineguns on them to? or was the Missle it?

  • Don't ever recall guns, just the missile.

  • The Interceptors did have machine guns on them, three just in front of the cockpit canopy. Due to budget limitations in the show production said machine guns were never used. At least not on screen. Maybe off screen?

  • @dalzilla all the interceptors had was the high explosive weapon fired from the nose, they carried no other armament.

  • @neonflash1 some guidebooks suggest it was possibly a nuclear weapon

  • @dalzilla

Yes, I think the interceptor had machine guns mounted in the nose below the cockpit - you can see fareings for these in the studio model and the Dinky toy. However, they were not actually used in an episode so I suppose their presence is apocryphal...

  • You try and shoot straight when your spaceship's spinning round like that.

  • Ah, great series. Love those interceptors.
