  • Nonviolent Communication skills work easier if the intention is set for connection and communicating.

  • It can be exhausting to listen to someone go on and on? Your sister-in-law seems to be yearning to be heard. Empathic listening would probably meet her needs to be understood. Offer her empathy and watch the on and oning stop.

  • Good advice, but what if the person talks for hours, venting their frustrations. My sister-in-law vents to me forever and I wanna care, but she goes on and on,and I just sit there and nod my head.

  • I am guessing that your time and energy is important to you? Suggestion #1: There are several ways to respond to this challenge. 1: Offer her empathic listening not just nodding yet asking her about her values as I am doing in the first sentence. Such as: Do you value ________ and fill the blank in with a need. Do this several times. There is a needs and tips list at my website in the video. If it does not work then to the next suggestion.

  • The next suggestion always works. Yet it is too long to list here yet you can find the expressing template at the tips page in my website listed in the video Make sure you ask.... "Can you tell me what you heard me say?" as this line makes sure that you are heard.. Sad to say this skill takes alot of practice yet is so beneficial to learn. It helps you to be heard and express your boundaries. It is about a 3 hr. workshop.

  • very positive information. "I just want to be heard"

  • Very good program for communications with any person. This world has been so violent and it's important to remember to really listen to a person and be compassionate even if they are not.

  • I feel like something is hapenning nowadays in this world, people are being more conscient and that is great I love it. I'm definitely subscribing to that website.

(I just wanted to be heard ^^)

  • Nonviolent Communication has proven time and time that it works to help connect myself with others and dispel negative and intense communications

  • Good stuff.

  • Thanks for post Rick.
