The money went to investors in the unspoken cause of our economic collapse...derivative trading. They know the majority of Americans and most populations of any country do not and will not ever understand the complexity of derivatives, hedge funds and credit default swaps.
"Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder! We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, Stay the course."
All politics/government will inevitably become corrupt.
As Bakunin says - "The masses" a man says to himself, recognising their incapacity to govern on their own account, have elected me their chief. By that act they have publicly proclaimed their inferiority & my superiority...the best man, the most intelligent, disinterested, generous, pure, will infallibly & always be spoiled.
Every man & woman should have the right to complete freedom with no governing party.
@dbkeay I like Bakunin but this is purely wishful thinking. without some form of gov't how do you enforce contracts, set up public fire and safety services, education, etc... gov't does have a role to play but we must keep it LIMITED. The people are given that responsibility and are to be watchful and vigilant regarding this. So in reality, our terrible gov't we have today is actually a failure of we the people. We need to get educated about things that matter and stop worshipping Snooki.
Government doesn't help public services, communication is all that matters. We should take responsibility for ourselves instead of giving our problems to an outside governing body to take care of. Unfortunately the masses have been hugely mislead and pretty much brainwashed into happy little consumers.
$1.4 quadrillion worth of derivatives waiting to collapse & over 1 billion starving to death. A change WILL HAVE TO COME.
Designating individuals into government positions will always end in tyranny. A system built on every member of society having an active role in governing the community is needed, no more electing representatives to express opinions but every persons ideas shared & debated. De-centralization & community driven incentives rather than self maximising individuals driven by status & material possession. I see alot of people willing to make the change, its just a matter of time..

yes, but printing money leads to the hidden TAX of INFLATION down the road.
The dollar today is worth 4 cents compared to the dollar of 1913. In less than 100 years we have devalued our currency by 96%.
I seriously doubt this trend will fail to continue.

See you in the 2009 2nd American revolution.
We need to completely clean out the congress, and start over.
Maybe next time we will elect politicians who actually have read and believe in our CONSTITUTION.
I see nothing but THEFT and TREASON on capital hill.
