You see and hear it every day, because these days, there is alot of Veterans that coming home from the war zones. There is nothing wrong being a veteran and saying that you fought for your country. Me my self, been to Iraq and Afghanistan few times. And I have to say, there is nothing glorious, romantic and good, about the war, and only a fool will glorify the war.
I aprpeciate the effort to convey the agony and struggles the troops go thorugh. Some of the lyrics were very strong and compelling, others just trite and clich'ed. More solders have tried to rescue hurt and wounded kids than have kicked in doors and taken away someone in the night. The soldier at the end who paints his face and wanders outside is just an awfull cliche. A more realistic ending would the soldier in divorce court, or sitting on the curb, homeless, with a bottle. I think there are two ways to interpret the story in this song. One: its about the soldiers who fight with pride for their country and they think there is no better life than fight and kill. They want acceptance and think they are the best. Two: it´s about the soldiers which goes to iraque or afghanistan and have to kill and fight although they´re to weak to do that. They come home and their souls are damaged because they cannot deal with war.

i think this song is about how war can poison the minds of everybody. Rise Against wanted to show what really happens and they felt a song needed to be created to show the world the truth. War is wrong people die protecting a country thats not worth protecting.

In Europe America is shown like this. People who think Bush is the greatest and it´s worth to fight for his lies. Too shoot innocent people with pride and patriotism.

Obama has increased the number of troops on the ground in Iraq...he was saying he was gonna withdraw the troops but he went back on that...understandably so...but he just said that cuz it's a trend right now to be against this war..no one likes war but their are those who realize that some situations need to end by a soldiers gun

what a wonderful and meaningful and storytelling song. it tells the truth about war and those soldiers who fight for their country. that life they´re have isn´t that easy life we´re all living. what they are going through is hell and i would not walk in their shoes. because of this I really appreciate those men.
i´m against war and i think it´s great that there are bands who are supporting the soldiers.

this isn't about showing that war isnt the answer...papasuito is a idiot..this shows that many soldiers come home with effects that a lot of people don't know about..my bro is coming home from iraq in a little over a month and i think of him when i hear this song..but he knew what he was signing up for and is in good condition...some people are to weak for the military..the military will take any1 who signs up for it...some people are not meant for it tho

The message that was by the band actually said: "Support the troops, end the war". So basically they are saying war isnt the answer, cos of the way the troops are groomed and treated and its unfair on them and civillians and other people. And killing people for a cause is NEVER the answer.

ok..i read their myspace thing that said it wasen't about the war it's about the soldier..just look at the video..it's about that one soldier...this is gonna sound harsh but some soldiers are dumbass..my bro in Iraq says that the majority are like this..the idiots are called "body bags"..cuz that's what they are gonna end up in..Killing is the answer in some cases..

I think there are two ways to interpret the story in this song. One: its about the soldiers who fight with pride for their country and they think there is no better life than fight and kill. They want acceptance and think they are the best. Two: it´s about the soldiers which goes to iraque or afghanistan and have to kill and fight although they´re to weak to do that. They come home and their souls are damaged because they cannot deal with war.
But everybody is proud of them

awesome song. rise against is still one of the greatest bands ever and that after 8 years. Tim has the greatest voice i've ever heard and the every song is perfect. Great lycrics...i don't know what to say. Amazing.
