  • Hate Her!! Even though she is a really good skater, she probably wouldnt have done so well if she hadnt ordered her boyfriend to bash Nancy Kerrigan's legs with a baseball bat! LIke are you kidding me? You would do something like that to you biggest competition to win. Sick if you as me. Just plain sick!

  • @markbob120 I never saw the video.It must be your favorite one.Snickers.

  • Casual

  • shes like," im just gonna go do a triple axle rite now, no stress there..."

  • i like how she skates straight back instead of skating on a curve..

  • Hahahaha I love how she was like "fuck yeah." after landing it.

  • That's how triple axels are done.

  • Girl in red dress: Dayumn

  • Great jump... a truly timeless skater! Best wishes to her new life and new family.

  • skid take off

  • @chapstickgurl1 thats how axels work......

  • Huge!!

  • I -3 Tonya! lol

  • Wow simple i should upload some videos this triple axel SIMPLE

  • Someday, SOMEDAY i'll land my triple axel! :)

  • best jumper! stupid girl. She could have left Kerrigan for dead! She is a much better skater, very athletic !

  • That was the warmup to the long program, not the short program.

  • @mattimattiusa Nope, it was the short program. She wore white for both. This is definitely from the SP. Search "tonya harding 1992 nationals" and you'll find a video for it--same outfit.

  • @mattimattiusa Nope, it was the short programm!

  • She is the queen!

  • @The123musicals I agree!!

  • Her story is really sad. She had a difficult life growing up and was constantly villified by the media while Nancy was considered the "perfect" skater. She made lots bad choices throughout her career and paid for it. I mean, she had all the talent in the world and she threw it all away...

  • She WAS a wonderful athlete, and it's tragic that she's had so many difficulties off the ice.

By all accounts, her mother abused her, as did her first husband Jeff Gillooly. I think the days for piling on the insults are over. She's had an even more horrific life since her skating days. It must be torture thinking of what might have been. It's easy to ridicule her, but she is a person and deserves some compassion,

I've heard that she just had a baby, and I wish both of them the best!

  • She was fucking amazing. I don't get why she thought a social retard (Nancy Kerrigan) was a threat to her.

  • @ifuseekamy Really? Are we using that word? Weak...

  • @ifuseekamy Well if you met TH's family and husband back then it would explain some of that.......ha ha

  • What incredible, incredible talent. Her biggest mistake was meeting and marrying that loser Jeff Gillooly. One can only imagine if she had surrounded herself with better people and trained harder what she may have been.

In case anyone is curious, I exported this and watched it in slow motion, frame-by-frame. It's clearly a triple, and with a perfect launch, and landing.

  • @zenmachinefilms

It seems to me that there's some truth in those who Tanya thought were "better people" being the ones who talked her into returning to her abusive husband to keep up appearences during the Nationals. I think that her biggest mistake was believing people when they told her that she couldn't stand on her own two feet, and this came from almost everyone that she ever interacted with.

  • Tanya Harding is the BEST thing that ever happened to women's figure skating. I am speaking of the drama in 1994 which generated more interest in it than ever before. I wish that she had trusted her talent and not felt like she had to take out the competition. She could have been a huge star but seemed to just thumb her nose at the necessary ambience or image which is sad because she had it all. Raw talent to the point where she could have given transplants and she seemed to throw it all away:(

  • freeze at 0:12, she is up in the air about as high as her legs are long with her body straight. Thats some explosive power.

  • wow

  • DAMN!!! HUGE!!

  • Comment removed

  • wow, she could sky

  • PEOPLE THAT JUMP IS A TRIPLE

  • tonyas' gonna kick your ass..basketball anyone?

  • Great height on that jump! Tonya Harding is a fun skater to watch :)

  • After watching this video exactly 102 times, I have concluded this is a triple axel. A very beautiful one.

  • beatuiful Tonya was the first to do a Triple Axel but now that she's about to turn 40 she's just become a Triple Sow Cow!

  • The triple is in the mind, not on this post.

  • She was obviously technically a great skater but when it comes to artistry she's flat. Her triple axel is one of the best I've seen....but for her personal life....what a shame.

  • Comment removed

  • @hawc243 look again. i've done triple axels and double axels. double axels on that height would be delayed, but it is not. it's a triple axel.

  • @EscoIceSk8 I have removed my comment because I already thought i had taken it off. Yeah I realise that its a triple. She does a very quick double rotation near the end that I was mistaking as one. :D

  • that is sooooooooooooo a triple

  • Sports Illustrated had a article on Tonya before the Nancy mess.Tonya had asthma but could land the jump because she had camped with her Dad as a little girl. She and he would chop fire wood so she built up some strength in her upper arms and that helped her to land the triple axel.

  • This is definitely a triple. Go get your eyes examined. I can tell without slowing it down BUT I did download it and slow it down just to make sure. 3 and a half rotations without a doubt!

*sigh* The sad part is both Tonya and Midori have better triple axel's than most male competitors today.

  • that's like, four feet in the air! WOW!

  • she was the best love her skating

  • There's no need to debate. It's three and a half revolutions. A very "thick" and heavy looking jump completed. If it was a double axel, then with that height, she would have opened up the jump to end it. Josee Chouinard often did that with her very high double axel. She had a very high axel and was known to do triple axels during practice.

  • THAT was a triple, definitely....I always felt she was a better skater than Nancy. Just wasn't meant to be...

  • girlygirl127 your an idiot, it was clearly a triple, I WANT TO SEE YOU DO THAT, so stop judging guuuuuuuuuuurl

  • i saw 3 spins :)

    its a triple

  • @iluvicesk8ing you saw three and a half spins, remember? :) Though i agree, this was soooo obviously a triple!

  • @TheSkatingGirlDream oh....yea xD

  • That is a triple axel you dumbass lol

  • This is a triple Axel and there is a video that proves it. The name of the video is Figure Skating Triple Axel History -Ladies- (it should be on related videos). Check on 2:25, you will see this jump in slow motion.

  • @girlygirl127 sigh...more "experts". Again, I have this on my hard drive and in slow motion it's 'clearly' a triple. That's been established over and over in the comments section. Can we discuss something else now?

  • @maxthewonderpup ... yeah of course its a triple. i wasn't even a skater, but i was a gymnast for 10 years at my peak during this whole harding scandal and i still to this day love watching her perform. i was always impressed by how skaters were doing 3 (or 3 1/2) rotations from just a vertical jump, while gymnasts in the 90s were struggling to do triple twisting back flips with even more air time and height than skaters. i also cant get over the height of this jump either, WOW.

  • @girlygirl127 clearly, you're blind.

  • @girlygirl127 crowd wouldn't roar like that if it was only a double. :P

  • @girlygirl127 Nope it's a triple. I'd know, I'm practicing triple axel. If it were a double, it would have been a delayed jump. Especially with that height.

  • @girlygirl127 yeah, that was a double. this girl is just like Lisa Manley... she's not very feminine. she looks more like a broad

  • Comment removed

  • @girlygirl127 get your eyes checked

  • @girlygirl127 No it's not a double. It is very clearly a triple. You need glasses.

  • damn!! if only she wasn't kicked out. her triple axel is better than lysacek

  • That is damn high !

  • @Axeljump grow up, it's a 3 Axel, done beautifully.

  • @maxthewonderpup what's growing up got to do with anything? slow it down and count the revolutions, you clearly are NOT a skater and just think you are. Loser :)

  • @Axeljump Actually, I am a former skater. Even competed in pairs against John Zimmerman once. How 'bout you? (and P.S....the "grow up" comment is in regards to calling people losers. If you want folks to listen to you, try a different tack.)

  • @Axeljump Actually Axeljump, it is three revolutions. Now, I'm not a skater but I can tell whether it is a triple or not. I've watched skating for years and I have seen many triple axels from many different skaters.

  • @kzoochick101 LOL your credibility went out the window when you said it was 3 revolutions (a triple axel has 3 and a half) and the fact that you are an armchair skater. You actually made me laugh out loud. Too funny.

  • @Axeljump well you know what, I'm still learning okay. maybe you should do the same.

  • @Axeljump that was no doubt a triple axel, i've seen that exact one slowed down and it is one of the biggest triple axels i've seen. learn to count.

  • @Sabrina7722772 I'll learn to count when you have a clue about skating :)

  • @Axeljump actually i'm a figure skater. :) and even the commentators said she was doing a triple axel.

  • @Axeljump It's a triple axel. I know it is not a double axel, cuz i could do one. And i practice triple axel. People who says other wise aren't at that level yet, or can't do it themselves.

  • @Axeljump DUMB BITCH IT'S CLEARLY A TRIPLE AXEL. AND YOU MUST HAVE BEEN THE WORST FUCKING SKATER IN THE WORLD.

  • @Axeljump it's triple axel. i know i counted the head rotation. you are the wannabe on here man.

  • To think she threw it all away.

  • The awesome thing is that Tonya Harding did almost every sport in her current life. She did Boxing, Pro Wrestling, Football,VolleyBall and much more! She's a all star!

  • That height was incredible!

  • PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT. i can do a sixtuplet axel. oh yeah. dont be jealous. BE VERY JEALOUS!

  • @tilliez You are a liar, nobody in history has landed a sextuple axel, which you misspelled, Little tip for life, Post a video on it, thendo it in competetion, boom, instant world famous, though, I dont see why we would be jealous of someone trying to feel better about themselves

  • holy shit she gets mad air.

  • Beautiful landing; it's too bad she screwed herself and never was allowed to compete again.

  • Wow!

    Tonya was grate!

  • @hisoft37 you mean great?

  • Yes,you are right.

    I made a mistake.

    How embarrassing!

Any way, I didn't know Tonya was such a good skater.

  • @hisoft37 No problem I make mistakes a lot too.

  • This is it!! Tonya Harding and Midori Ito's tiple axel was amazing. theses days so called triple axel.. hmm that's fake axel.

  • best ladies 3axel i have ever seen. midori + tonya are in a class of there own they are power skaters, mao, kimmie, yukari depend of quick rotation to eek out there 3axels, which pale in comparison

  • This is what a triple axel should look like. she jumps up facing forward and lands in the opposite direction. Doesn't look like there's any prerotation at all. Just totally different from so called triple axel that Asada Mao does.

  • Just couldn't agree more!

  • WOW! That was amazing! Isn't she the only American woman who ever landed the triple axel??

  • @brandozy87 No, I believe Kimmie Meissner did land kind of triple axel at 2005 US Nationals in the free!

  • The height she gets is amazing!! Very powerful skater.

  • Tonya Harding and Midori Ito forever. Unmatched.

  • That height! Amazing!!

  • i think that tonya is a very dangerous skater.. she doesn't have great technique and she has some nasty falls

  • I wonder if she can still do that. Booty is looking kind of big these days...and hot.

  • So sad. World class athlete. Trailer park values.

  • @dsrtflwr Yes and just hung around the losers in life, same as Christopher Bowman who grew up in the city.

  • @dsrtflwr yes.

  • @dsrtflwr lol... i like that comment...

  • The problem was that Tonya was an athlete, in a sport that values dancers!

  • The problem was that Tonya managed to attack with a club an innocent competitor, and any sport values character.

  • piece of cake!

  • Amazing ! On the other topic, I remember the news at that time. She had a difficult family life and was around the wrong people that led up to that crime. She had a lot to overcome but didn't get the personal and positive support that many athletes have. She was truly gifted. She has turned her life around now. If we can forgive Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods, and others for their transgressions, we can forgive her. Wishing her the best !

  • Lol! @ markbob

Someone who can't spell "opinion" or "trailer" talks about education. LMAO!

  • There aren't any female skaters today who can land anything remotely close to this! That height is incredible.

  • @NorthEast81 you are right, Mao landed it way better

  • @NorthEast81 i know amazing!!!

  • Tonya could skate circles around both Nancy and Kristi. I believe jealousy disposed the most talented skater off the ice permanently. Believing Tonya would plan an attack on Nancy would be comparable to believing Tiger Woods would plot to bang up Sergio Garcia's knee. The skating world should be ashamed they allowed a woman to be a victim of domestic abuse, and cheat her out of a career for jealousy's sake. In the skating world, image is more important than talent. Just a bunch of cheaters.

  • I TOTALLY agree with you youariston.

It seems like everybody just cares about the fame now instead of the talent.

  • Wow!! LOL, her entrance to the axel!

  • I'm pretty old school, so grew up watching all the horrible news coverage. Yet, I admit this video clearly shows a perfect triple axel....no prerotation whatsoever. She goes in to the air front-faced. What athleticism.

  • That's not a perfect 2 axel, look at her landing! It's solid, but it's not perfect. I understand that maybe you might think that i'm supersticious, but i'm not. If it is PERFECT, it is PERFECT!

  • she has so much airtime, more than the others

  • You are all idiots making excuses for Tonya. That was her problem her entire life-wa wa wa poor me! I don't hear anyone mention that Peggy Fleming was so poor that Peggy and her family actually lived out of their car for awhile!!! And the dress that Peggy wore to WIN the Olympics was made by her mother. Peggy had grace and class something you can't buy you fools. All the money in the world would not have changed the horses ass named Tonya Harding.

  • Wow what an amazing jump! Who is this Tonya Harding?

  • Incredibleee. Wooooow

  • OH WOW!!!

  • Tonya was and is amazing. It's not her fault her team beat the other player. Poor Tanya...

  • If Tonya had believe in herself practice and stop smoking she could have beat Nanvy real easy .But Tonya unlike Nancy did not have some strong family support

  • whatever personal issues surrounded her, that jump was truly spectatcular!

  • Beautiful!

I can barely manage a single salchow! Haha, this girl is gifted alright.

  • dam thts high

  • damn that was awesome

  • That was amazingly high!!!! She had really good posture to.

  • I blame her mother more than her husband. An acquaintance of mine grew up skating at the same rink and saw Tonya's mother yell at Tonya for talking to other girls at the rink. She kept emphasizing that the other girls were her enemies etc.

  • I also witnesed Tonya's abuses by her mother when she was very young and so talented, such a waste I always felt sorry for her. Even her coach took her for granted! Left her sitting having asthma atack after a routine while she talked to another coach! She just had to many bad people in her life.

  • That is very sad, its like, if you come from a lower class of working people (i know nancy was considered middle class...whatever, it wasnt as low as tonya's parents - and no offense to them for their working class) its just sad that you have to settle for less than the best because of money. Thats one respect russia et al surpass us. many condemn them for taking them so young, ours do to, but dont put them up, house and feed them, and educate and train them all in one. good or bad..it works

  • Awesome, looked like she was flying...!!

  • HOLY SHIT THATS HIGH

  • That's just....freaking WOW.

  • IT SO HIGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fantastic skater/stupid girl. Sad.

  • Not as stupid as Nicole Bobek. She is in real deep do do for selling meth.

  • Whooooooa!

  • wow she jumps so hi!! :O

  • wow

  • Wow....look how high that is! None of today's female skaters come anywhere close to Tonya's jumping ability. And it's so true about skaters today faking triple Axels. "Triple Axels" of today are nowhere close to the quality of jumps demonstrated by Tonya and Midori Ito.

  • Well said! :)

  • meissner's axels were ALWAYS cheated guys... tonya still remains the only one to land it in competition

  • If only she had had a decent upbringing with decent people around her. One can grow up working class and still have character. Tonya had the odds stacked against her particularly with the kind of mother she had-trailer trash all the way.

  • axels are a half-rotation more than the other jumps, so a triple axel is 3 1/2 turns and can easily be mistaken for a quad. If they start the jump facing forwards, it's an axel.

  • ino

  • First and only American woman to land the triple axel

Meissner never fully rotated the jump, no one else has come even close :S

Her and Midori Ito remain the only women to have completely rotated the jump in competition (though Tiffany Chin executed it properly in warm-up)

  • Actually, Meissner's was ratified at the comp. so that makes her the only other US woman to land it in competition.

  • how about mao asada?

  • Wow-I had no idea Tiffany attempted triple axels in competition! I thought Midori was the first. :)

  • Tiffany Chin landed several 3Axels in practice. Too bad she couldn't do it in comp.

  • Again-wow! I hope there is some footage somewhere-I'd love to see the attempts!

  • @Greatass4 HELLO MAO ASADA DID 3 IN THE OLYMPICS!!!!!!

  • Ito and Harding - untouchable and exlusive. There is no female skater who has done a triple axel of their level and quality.

  • So very true!

  • it wasn't completed though, they did not use replay to look at it. Meissner never actually completed the full jump in practice nor in competition (all the youtube videos affirm this) She should be given a thumbs up for trying though.

BTW It was never "officially" ratified that she completed the jump.

  • Tiffany chinn did them, when she was younger. You might be able to find them on her web site. check it out.

  • Wow she went off abit

  • WHOA! That was so incredible!

  • well damn!!! That was awesome!!!! Its a shame that she didnt go further in her career. Such a talent!

  • It makes me angry to watch this, no telling how far she could have gone if she didn't get involved with all that lowlife. We'll never know!!!

  • omfg! Thats friken high! shes soooo wow :P

  • It's a shame what has happened to her. They say she could have been one the greatest woman skaters of all time. She was the first american to nail the triple axel. Sad.

  • that was good :)))

  • I gotta admit that was pretty awesome.

  • This footage is so incredible I can't tear myself away... I just keep hitting 'replay' again and again! :-)

(and I whole-heartedly agree with the comments below that it's probably the best triple axel by a woman ever and how fortunate it was captured)

  • I think she got higher in the air than most people can on trampolines! Bloody hell!

  • wow.. that ws sooo awesome, especially the landing!!

  • Surprising she bombed out at the Olympics. The year prior to that, she attempted and landed all four of her triple axels. This jump, though in warmup, was by far her best ever, with her body perfectly vertical (90 degrees) in the air and very high off the ice. Arguably one of the best ever from any woman, and although this jump didn't count for anything, thankfully it was captured on video.

  • holy...WoW! i cant spin that well on land....i cant imagine doing that on ice!

  • damn. probably the best I have seen from a woman.
