These shots are ok but really they are not particularly amazing. That screw back along the cushion is not amazingly difficult. This is an exhibition match in which Reyes is making out these shots are mega difficult but actually they are meat and drink even to an average pool player.

If this so called Best Ever pool player can't do it under pressure, then he shouldn't even be a professional. ALL professionals should be able to make that shot, pressure or no pressure. I think the commentators were reacting about how the ball almost hung up. Effren had a weird table that didn't offer a lot of easy leave oppurtunities and Effren charged through it with high speed shots that were needed. I think that's what the commentators and crowd were getting so excited about.
hey dokokai, efren isnt usually as out of line as you think. his limits in position play go far beyond that of most players, so what would be out of line for most, he could "recover" from a lot easier.
If you have to "recover" then you are out of position. The idea of position is to set up easier shots. There is no question that Reyes comes with great shots to continue his out when he gets out of line, but cue ball control and placing it to create easier shots is the name of the game. Very often he gets out of line and has to come up with a great shot which he usually does, BUT a GREAT PLAYER doesn't get out of line on their position often. He's still playing Rempe past his prime & Rempe ran 6 racks on Reyes, Don't give too much credit to Reyes.

These shots are ok but really they are not particularly amazing. That screw back along the cushion is not amazingly difficult. This is an exhibition match in which Reyes is making out these shots are mega difficult but actually they are meat and drink even to an average pool player.

are u asking what`s so amazing about this rack/game? ill tell u why. on a practice table, the runout efren just did is a walk n da park, yup, u probably think those wer just simple shots and easy positioning plays, but UNDER PRESSURE? man, its a difrent ball game, f the match goes on to a hill 2 hill finish, and ur n efren place, those pockets tends 2 become smaller, efren is human, he feels the presure almost evrytym, but to deal and overcome wid it, that makes him and dis vid AMAZING!

Pockets on a pool table are as big as buckets. Do it on a snooker table. Simple fact is, some of the shots were great, but the reception he got for a backspin is ludicrous.

Try this : gamble a lot of money with a player that your chances of winning is 50/50 and if the match goes hill hill try to do the "simple backspin".Even better if you are skilled enough to reach a semifinal of a tournament try to play the same shots.Then you will understand the meaning of PRESSURE

Backspin on the cueball is one of the easiest manipulations of the cueball to do in the game. If this so called Best Ever pool player can't do it under pressure, then he shouldn't even be a professional. ALL professionals should be able to make that shot, pressure or no pressure. There is nothing amazing about it.

I think the commentators were reacting about how the ball almost hung up. Effren had a weird table that didn't offer a lot of easy leave oppurtunities and Effren charged through it with high speed shots that were needed. I think that's what the commentators and crowd were getting so excited about.

hey dokokai, efren isnt usually as out of line as you think. his limits in position play go far beyond that of most players, so what would be out of line for most, he could "recover" from a lot easier.

If you have to "recover" then you are out of position. The idea of position is to set up easier shots. There is no question that Reyes comes with great shots to continue his out when he gets out of line, but cue ball control and placing it to create easier shots is the name of the game. Cue ball control!

He doesn't do anything Rempe can't do. Or for that matter any of the other greats. Sigel, Mataya, Louie Roberts, Mosconi. People are cheering like no one else in the world can make those shots. Rempe HAS ALREADY made shots like that. People are just kissing Reyes' ass. Rempe is past his prime in this match and Reyes only won by one game!!. Stop sucking Reyes' dick at look at the skill of some of the other greats as well. Almost made the 9?! It hit the side rail a foot above the pocket.

Right ok well, Efren Reyes is probably the best thing that ever happened to the sport for one. Secondly under the sercumstances i wouldnt want anyone else to take those shots than Efren. I aint going to seny Rempe was a great player but Efren is a better player almost everytime

Reyes is a great shot maker & he has to be because of the position he leaves himself a lot of the time. Very often he gets out of line and has to come up with a great shot which he usually does, BUT a GREAT PLAYER doesn't get out of line on their position often. A great player leaves easy shots because of the position they play. Position play is what separates good & great players. He's still playing Rempe past his prime & Rempe ran 6 racks on Reyes, Don't give too much credit to Reyes.

Where their positioning is out of line more often than expected. Look up the "huge ownage , bata played kuniko takahashi". It's like positioning the ball with his hand and he was so flawless and fluid. So name me a player that doesn't have a bad day. If you ask the pro players if Bata is a great player. And you cant even read, because in my comments I do give Reyes credit for being a great player. I never said otherwise. I said he gets out of line on position more often than other great players, but he often makes great shots to recover from it. Other players do the same thing but they dont get out of line as often. Believe it or not, Efren wasn't playing all that well on this tournament. He told me his stroke was bad during this tournament. Including against Wetch in the finals. Somehow he was struggling.
But, during this period ( mid 90's ), Efren was the best money player in the world.
Efren's cueball control is out of this world.
That's what made him famous.

I didn't give Reyes credit as a great player JUST for beating Rempe. If you look back in the comment history you will see I gave Reyes credit for his accomplishments over the years & that no one can argue with it. He does get out of line, he does make great shots to recover but he's successful regardless of that. My whole point is he doesnt have the cue ball control to set up easy shots like other great players. Pay attention!

In my opinion(and its only that counts;)) bata has the touch and the smooth shot making that pool is all about. When he is walking around the table in a hill-hill situation of big event, he is like walking in a park, or in his very own livingroom. OF course there are lots of fantastic players out there, but nobady is even close like the magician.
