It is completely against the Quran. 2:121: Those to whom We have sent the Book study it as it should be studied: They are the ones that believe therein: Those who reject faith therein,- the loss is their own.
6:66, 6:70, 15:1-3, 73:11, 74:1-25. Apostates are to be left alone, NOT killed. Unless the word qatala here means 'to curse' as in 74:19-20, 51:10, 80:17 & 85:4. But read:6:108

-That doesnt mean it is correct. He left out contemporary scholars intrepretation of the hadith, and used many inauthentic sources (such as Abu Hurariah (father of small cat)).
Hadiths is the second most trusted source, but because it is not the Quran there is many errors. Thats why hadiths should be left to the scholars to decide which to follow and which not.

Hadiths are not automatically true. Hadiths are like the Bible. There is a lot of nonsense hadiths. So you must analyaze the chain of narriators yourself to see if there is a liar or untrustworthy person among the narriators.

Same way people do not come to Islam because they want a bit of emotional support/fame - have you seen the way Muslims treat converts?
If an apostate makes money, then good for him. There are books propagating Islam that have made some millionaires too I am sure.

America is also based upon the principles of the enlightenment and the ancient Greeks and Romans were also heavy influences. It's important to remember the U.S. is a secular nation. I disagree with the practices of Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia and the IRI as well, but I don't think we should resort to mocking or cheer-leading. It isn't necessary and tends to be counter-productive.

I studied Salam Witch Trials if 1692. It is very interesting the context which it happened. First they where paranoid with constant Indian attacks and were barely surviving. There was inflighting, political, local, Church and social which didn't help. The big factor was medical. I'm not just talking about the Salem Witch Trials. Anne Hutchinson and Roger Williams are two big historical examples. There were also the Quakers who were hung by the puritans. Regardless, what's done is done. I really do hope Islamic countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia establish secular governments in the future.
