  • whats the thingy made of besides that white stringy things ?

  • U R so cute!

  • Thanks :)

  • Sent you a video response.

  • i learn't about hiroshima's history 3 days ago at my school. is it true that 140,000 people were killed by a bomb... a sad story...especially because the person who made the bomb was also japanese. Atleast that's what I heard...

  • That is true about the bomb on Hiroshima, but it wasn't a Japanese person who invented it. It was an American....Robert Oppenheimer

Google it and you can see more!

  • oh right. thanks for letting me know, and for replying quickly!

  • Hey! I ate at that okonomiyaki place! They made it Hiroshima style with the udon noodles cooked right inside. Oh man I miss Japanese food...

  • cool...that was a pretty damn cool place. I love the Hiroshima style!

  • I walk and take the train. I have an international license, but don't have a car. Maybe in the future.

  • I do eat a lot of "western" food. there are lots of foreign food shops around. I mostly eat Japanese, but eat a mix of both Japanese and Canadian.

  • Brings back good memories. i've lived at a trainstation away from the miyajima ferry, for a year, and have been in okonomimura a few times. really good stuff, and very nicely located behind parco.

  • yeah...from what i saw, it looked like it was in a great spot...right in the middle of everything downtown!

  • lol.. it kinda looks like a huge flat takoyaki :p

  • yeppers....minus the octopus of course :)

  • I usually put some mayonnaise on okonomiyaki and eat them with rice and miso soup. It's called ''okonomiyaki tei-shoku''「お好み焼き定食」It's from Osaka(Kansai area) and people from Kantou area don't eat that way but I do. It's like making hamburger with pizza instead of beef patty.

Hiroshimayaki has some yakisoba in it,right? It tastes good as well.

  • Hey there. I've noticed that in Osaka, it is often served with mayonnaise. Myself, I'm not a big fan of mayo....never really liked it so I just eat it with the brown sauce!

Yep, the hiroshimayaki has yakisoba in it....soooo good! I have to admit that I'm a fan of any good okonomiyaki!

    Thanks for watching :)

  • You're killing me Kevin! You make me WISH I could transport over, hang out, eat and come back. With that said, I did come home to a delicious home-made sausage beer-cheese soup tonight so I can't complain, just wish.

  • it is indeed great food, but the thing is, after spending some time abroad, you start craving all those things you had back home! Even though I almost never eat fast food, I miss Harvey's, a Canadian burger chain!! hehe

  • Cool, I haven't been to Hiroshima yet. Thanks BusanKevin.

  • If you ever get the chance, it's worth the trip. Good eats and a fun city. Thanks for watching :)

  • Okonomiyaki is something I've always wanted to try! It looks great! :)

  • It is damn fine food!

  • I had okonomiyaki when I was in Tokyo and man it's good. I had never had it before so my sister and I went to some hole in the wall place run by an old lady. She got us set up and I started to stir it around and she freaked out, yelling something at us in Japanese. We had one then ordered another which she cooked for us lol! It was kind of strange just being scolded by a old lady while she cooked our food. Good times! Keep bringing on the videos man they are awesome!

  • hehe...I had many similar experiences when I lived in Korea. Sometimes old women and men would yell at me and I had no idea why. I was possibly making some sort of social faux pas without my knowledge....or they were just nuttier than shit-house rats! Who knows??

  • Oh!! That brings back memories! I went to the same 'village' and had my first Hiroshimayaki when I was working over there a couple of winters ago! It was so good! I think the Osaka and Hiroshima Okonomiyaki are both really good!! Really filling too huh?!

Enjoying your videos! Keep it up. :D

  • That`s awesome. they are both great and totally filling. A couple pints of beer doesn`t help with that either!! hehe Funny thing is, replying to these posts is making me hungry for okonomiyaki again...right now!

  • How would you describe how the dark sauce tastes?

-- Kind of an odd question, but I'm curious to know. :P

  • hmmm.....hard to describe. Kind of sweet....a strong taste. Maybe something like ketchup/mustard/soy sauce all together!!....maybe! Tough one to describe. It`s good though.

  • I'd like to try one of those okonomiyaki!

(I wish I had hair like that!)

  • It`s good stuff! Hope you can try some soon :)

  • the village is great -I have a favorite place among all the stalls. I prefer Hiroshima style.

  • Nice! Obviously you`re an experienced veteran there? I`veonly been there the one time so we just chose a place at random. It was good stuff though.

  • Oh yea, I also like the fatty tonkatsu and omurice they have during lunch rushes.

  • Ah.....tonkatsu is pretty great stuff! I don`t eat it too often though....wreaks havoc on my stomach!

  • That's too bad. It's so good too. Seriously though, everything taste better in Asia than in the states. Maybe because it's less processed?

  • You're probably right about that! :)

  • You ever had it with ice cream on top? Sounds gross but I had it on a boat in Japan before. Okonomiyaki is awesome and it's a good experience in cultural food. I like shabu shabu and nabe too but not in summer time obviously. I still like ramen the most though.

  • Wow! I can`t imagine it with ice cream....to be honest....that sounds pretty gross! How was it?

  • Honestly, it taste really good. Almost like a really thick crepe with ice cream in the middle.

  • Be careful of sunburn with short or no hair!

There's a place down the street that makes Osaka-style and Hiroshima-style. They're open late... Dammit though, I've been trying to lose weight.

  • Damn good stuff isn`t it? Suppose it`s not the best for those concerned with their waistlines! Yeah...I was wearing a hat when I was out today...hehe :)

  • you eat off the hot-plate?

  • Yes you do. Pretty cool isn't it? They turn down the heat on the part you'll eat from. It keeps the food hot. There is a small wooden ledge to keep your drinks and a small bowl on. I love eating this way :)

  • I dunno...I kinda like having a bit of privacy when I'm eating y'know just in case I spill any food down me or get it on my face, and then if I ordered something like that I wouldn't even know how to eat it, hands? chopsticks? would they laugh if I asked for a knife and fork? lol.

  • You cut it into smaller pieces with the spatula and then eat it with chopsticks. Since you would be a foreigner, they probably would be expecting you to ask for a fork! They did give me a "special" English menu when I sat down. These particular places get a lot of tourist traffic I think!
