She does seem a little out of breath here, but I don't think it is THAT terrible, at least considering her latest performances -they're all on the same line. Maybe you just have to accept she has changed gradually her vocal style from a(well done or not) kind of classical style to a belting, more modern one, needing to learn how to control her new kind of voice (independently of her natural skills, being better or worse). Time will tell, but the change of style is evident and could be a reason.

This is amazing. Considering how much they tour, Simone's voice is still near perfect. I like this better than the studio version. I really want to see Epica live, and even more so after watching this! Bravo Epica!

I think she must be more nervous than usually when these pro shootings happen because she never sounds quite as good as in other videos or in other concerts.

her voice has improved a lot since she started singing with epica ... but our voice isn't always perfect .. and these new songs are way harder to sing than the old ones ... i've seen her live ... and she's wasn't perfect live in the classical conspiracy.. but she was damn fucking great. it was in portugal ... the concert was canceled because she was seek ... they returned a few months later, she was STILL recovering .... but she did an amazing job.... there are videos on youtube if u want to see

She doesn't need to study more. She CAN sing. There have been concerts in which she has been great. Her voice got a bit tired after so many tours...that's it.

She needs too study more? God forbid she might have an off day (I don't think she did) but I can speak as a female vocalist in a metal band... that not every show will be your shinning moment. Their will be shows where you may have bad allergies, a cold, a headache, didn't have time too warm up... or maybe even have personal issues on your mind inhibiting the quality of performance. However you push forward and do your best ... one bad show doesn't mean you need too study more .. shit happens

@agominator ... Idk ... I guess I don't agree. I have seen them live 3 times and watched numerous live shows of theirs.... and I think she sounds great 98 percent of the time. I honestly don't hear any issues with this performance except maybe during the middle briefly with her scale. This is one of my favorite songs by them and I think she sounds almost the same as the album. I'm not hearing what others are hearing. I must have missed something.

@agominator she did sound very powerful at the paradiso . All I know is there are numerous reasons why a vocalist can have a bad show. I know this show and Pink Pop weren't that great .. but most others are awesome! we will never know why this happens too her.. unless she tells us ... lol.. not trying too be rude but she uses her voice too perform so I would think her voice has everything too do w/ all of her performances. Maybe your referring too physical performance?

@Trueghostgirl no, if you hear kingdom of heaven at paradiso (2011 show of course) you´ll notice that her voice is completely different to the lyrical voice she used at MFVF 2010 for example, but she sounds breathless here and her bad performances have become pretty usual know, some people say is because she uses that corset, but in paradiso she used that same clothing and she sound better than any other performance. i donpt care how she moves, but the voice she uses whikle performing :)

@agominator yeah corsets have nothing too do with it ... I'm a vocalist in a band and I wear corsets all the time performing. All your breath comes from your diaphragm and how you project it.... all we can attribute too her having bad shows is problems we might not be aware of. I know in 1 interview she said the illness that struck her back in 2008 still causes her breathing problems from time too time. vocal chords are very sensitive muscles. Doesn't take much too irritate them :)
