  • This is how they were.. ragged and under poduced..real live music

  • Amazing!

  • The sound on this clip is corrupted.

  • @Johnat102 - No it's not...?

  • @Johnat102 It must have been my connection. Sounds great now. Timeless

  • fantastic, ragged suits it,love to be there!

  • Greatest Band ever.

  • I was born much much too late.

  • wonderful, thanks for posting...

  • met these boys in there heyday in the redhouse newcastle quayside 72, before the area was its todays iconic up market area. met alan hull a few years ago before his sad passing,,,,,,,,,,,truly NE icons

  • Raw College performance from the Best Band ever well i was at uni when they played .. and I'm a Geordie too.

  • this is the worst i have ever heard this song done and i am a massive fan BAH

  • @johnbfuzz - ha ha.. yeah. It's pretty ragged...!

  • @wateroftyne

It might be ragged, but thats how live music was in those days, non of this digital pre processed shit we get today

  • @wateroftyne ragged ?

  • @mutantmoments - Yeah, ragged. It's not necessarily a bad thing though!

  • @johnbfuzz I remember our history teacher at school decided not to go to watch them at Liverpool Empire in 1978 after seeing the Rock Goes to College concert. He thought the harmonies were dreadful. I didn't see the show at the time but he was right, unfortunately.

  • @johnbfuzz Really...

  • @johnbfuzz They probably had a lot of "roll your own" before hand but who cares it feels right al through the night

  • "Marriage is like water, you have to drink it. Swinging is like a cup of wine. You can

drink it if you like. If you don't like it, don't drink it". This is a quote from a Chinese man in his defence to a recent absurd (imho) charge of something like ' Allowing an orgy to take place in your house". I'm sure there are many former Essex Uni students of the 70s who will know what he meant!

  • i´ve loved em since i was a kid , im over fifty now. rock on lads. die sind sowas von geil oder?

  • We can swing together, we may get older, but the feeling is still there!!!

  • Come back to toon Ray Jackson your city needs you.

  • Can anyone else hear a woman reading some kind of eulogy about a police officer in the left channel?

  • Brillant ! B*R*A*V*O & thanx for sharing jewels like these vids

  • Thanks for posting.

I saw them on a wet day, at a race course in Sydney back in '73 or '74. They came on just before Slade, but in the minds of many, including me, they stole the show. Bloody brilliant.

  • MOSH PIT!

  • Saw them a couple of times at the City Hall in the 70's. Fantastic band. This was one of their highlights. It went on for ages and became almost a jam session just like this video. You have to be a Geordie to appreciate them properly

  • Bryjake 10

    All forgiven!!

  • jrjjb

My comment was out of order. I appologise for being a grumpt old f**t! Lindisfarne have given me loads of pleasure in the past. Please excuse a 'brown ale fuelled ' rant.

  • Good song. a number of issues with it.1, It sounds better when you are singing along with your mates, 2 Better when you have had a few. 3 Better when you are 20 years old. I might manage 1 and 2. I can't even remember waht it was like to be 20. Nice edge to the song

  • They all sound pissed! Flat singing gets a bit better towards the end but a crap performance really.

  • What are you listening to Bryjake10? Don't forget it's 30 years since - all live - all real. They don't sound pissed to me but why bother making a comment if you thought they were so crap......

  • They sang the new year in at the Kirk (Kirklevington Country Club) one year in my sordid past. As I recall (or was told, being somewhat brown aled) they were brilliant. I do remember dancing like a twat to their version of Knees up Mother Brown. Still, some say I danced like a twat all the time .... brilliant times. Cheers to all

  • Lindisfarne is Newcastle

    and

    Newcastle is Lindisfarne.

    Somewhat like me and brown ale :}

  • @TheWholigans - you can get a Geordie away from Newcastle, but you´ll never get Newcastle out of a Geordie?

I´m from far far away, but I still swear Lindisfarne at their worst beat any plastic band trying their best.

  • Never saw them only hard them & they are really good enough to change our musical taste of present time.

  • the man who invented utube should be proud that this is what it is for i saw this tour and .... well happy times

  • totally agree with the you tube inventor comment.

Saw these guys at a Bedlington (Northumberland) School Hop, circa 1968, when they were called The Bretherin.

    A great live band man.

    Alan Hull RIP.

  • who remembers jacka in downtown faction. used to play the rex in whitley a lot

  • Not only the best band to come out of Newcastle but the best in Britan ! Guy - Gateshead

  • Count me as another Yank who listen to them way back. Saw them on tour a few years back in Mass. Miss Alan, tho'.

  • never saw them, but their music when i was a kid was unreal better than the stones, led zep, anyone at those gigs at newcastle city hall were truly blessed.

  • I was born in those happy days and it was great. Lindisfarne`s Christmas Concerts at the City Hall were a part of christmas in the north east in the late 70`s and 80`s.

  • Class band I used to watch them at Christmas night on Itv. Still have some Alan hull albums.

  • I wish that I was born in those happy days. Well beautiful number and great (out of this world) band.

  • brilliant band,run for home,marshall riley,s army,magic.

  • I'm one of the few Americans to appreciate this band. Great Geordie rock! Magic in the Air is one of my favorite live records of all time!

  • Bet you have the American version of Nicely Out Of Tune (Elektra EKS-74099)... managed to get my hands on a copy of it a while back, and it's TOTALLY different to our UK release!

  • very nice song, however my all time favourite song is ;
