While in high school my love for metal really started with this album. my fingers bled trying to learn this riffs. Nobody could match Halfords vocal range. Also the snare sound on this tune sweeeeeeeeet! Thanks for posting this mujuma
one of the crowning achievements of rock. the cream of the crop! absolutely brilliant, entirely exhilarating. a timeless masterpiece of music! the fathers of metal!
those in the know call it by its nikname "unleashed in the studio" true fans know the dealhalford had the flu his track was wiped and redun , there are tons of overdubs, so not really live album
best song on an album full of nothing but great songs. I could listen to this until my ears bled. Used to replay and replay the guitars at 4:10 until my tape got mangled.
Once she was wonderful..... once she was fiiiiiine..... once she was beautiful.... once she was mine.....
I hate the fact that always when I listen to this - I think about all the people who have never heard this, and who never will - and feel sorry for them, and I get angry that there are so many who will never enjoy as much as I enjoy while listening to this incredible song ...
Cool version of this song, I like the drums echo sound when it slows down, (when Halford starts singing WHEN SHE WAS WONDERFUL) I turn it up and I feel like Im at the concert.
Black Sabbath = Greatness. Judas Priest = Gold. Megadeth = metal heaven, but Metallica = Just plain crap. You can say what you want about Metal just realize Metallica nearly destroyed it
@fuckjustinbieber66 Really? Yet "Megadeth" didn't? Seriously if you meant Metallica destroyed Metal by Thrash then you are a hypocrite because Megadeth are as well.
@Raikalz That's seriously what you hear? you hear noise? is the 5th symphony also noise? how about spring by vivaldi? are all of these masterpieces noise?
@Raikalz, yeah fucktard, it's beautiful noise!! if you prefer to listen to Celine Dion or the 101 strings get the fuck out 'cause this is powerful music for your lame ears.
Judas Priest make the best noise of any band in the history of Rock and/or Heavy Metal.
Well we all know the vocals have been overdubbed later but Priest maintain that the instruments have not been, bar a bit of remixing to balance things. Apparently the vocals were not recorded satisfactorily at the gigs so wouldn't have been good enough for commercial released. It's actually a fairly common practice, as has been mentioned Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous had work done to it post gig. Anyway, it sounds fucking awesome however it was made.
@Ham701 Well yeah? That's what "the vocals were not recorded satisfactorily" means doesn't it?! I meant from a technical point of view. Sorry, I should've made it clearer. VOICE RECORDING = BAD. NEED DOING AGAIN. That any easier for you son?
I can remember climbing on top of the Chilmark reservoir pumphouse in Ossining, NY with my buddy Spencer back in 1986 and jamming out to this album for HOURS on his dual tape deck box.
@Drakodan I know, but it is a wonderful recording as a whole (maybe not completely live) I always thought this was a premier example of late 70's technology, whether studio or not, imho it is still one of the best examples of late 70's hard rock in existence. (dubbed or not) ...and yes I might be a bit bias due to being a fan which I can live with. =)
Three best "live" albums ever 1. Unleashed in the East 2. Exit stage left 3. Some enchanted Evening ...just sayin' . Oh If you don't know the names of the bands on the other two there's no point in even commenting.
ppl always talking bout Halford and Bruce, u know thers alot more metal vocalists especially from the underground u can talk about, theres Jon Oliva,Warrel Dane(wen he was in Sanctuary he kicked ass), Messiah, Midnight,Geoff Tate,Neil Turbin,Tony Moore,Eric AK,Bobby Blitz, and the list goes on, so fking grow up and stop comparing every metal vocalist with Bruce and Halford, Halford is my favorite singer but im nt so much of a dumb fuck that i hav to compare him to every vocalist in metal
They are singing diffrently.. dont U see? I saw Rob and this day he just screams A lot but I like him any way. And U we are all the same we like Hard rock and Heavy metal Ok?!?!
Is anyone seriously even considering comparing Rob halfords vocal range to bruce dikinsons?
It's a joke right? Halford proves that in this and most every priest song out there.
on top of that everyone knows that bruce dickinson was never that great live. maybe stage presence yeah but vocal performance? no. plus his entire mid 80's-90's struggle with vocals.
You can't compare the two especially when they they sing totally different, and it's obviously not a competition of any sort.
lol do you seriesley believe that? Bruce Dickinson is one of the best live performers in the world! not onley is his voice perfect but his stage presance is unbelivable! halford sounds great live but i never found his presance very interesting
im sorry but Bruce Dickinson's voice is far beyond halfords Musicley. Bruce Dickinson's voice is smooth, Beatiful, and Powerful and even more so then Halford. Halford has got a KICK ASS voice that Is PERFECT for heavy metal but nothing else! Bruce has sung in many geanra;s of music besides metal
i believe he has even done some opera. listen to the note at the end of Where eagles dare, Halford has never hit a note like that with the same power or feel to it so Bruce is a better singer
original he is singing very much higher, now it sounds like a crow with crossed leggs in the early morning while an old farmer on his "fahrrad" with a loaded gun shoot his wife and 2 kids...
my favorite song of all time its great and Rob Halfords voice is Amazing best vocals in rock history him and freddie mercury but Robs definetly got him beat
Nothing band make today seem to have the balls and attitude that the old bands had--and those screams--which I actually could pull off live--are unmatched today. There is just an other worldly sound to them--some of its the Roland space echo which phases the tail notes but no one can deny the talent
i say priest is one if not the greatest heavy metal bands. They have 2 extremely talented guitar players THE GREATEST VOCALS EVER. They truely are METAL GODS!!!
@mujuma ah, i see i did that too but one of my music vids took off and i dont really like the song or the band so i have tough deicision to make wether or not i should delete it
wanna know whats weird? i was watching your my friend of misery video, and then i searched for this, and then i realized it was another one of your videos.. thats weird... lol anyways is this your idea of better bands than metallica? beacuse i whole heartedly agree, although i like metallica.
@jakethreesixty well, not really. I don't upload Videos onto Youtube, well not serious ones anymore. I uploaded a few at first just to see if they worked and all, and then I just started uploading random bullshit that I really should take down. It's hard to choose. Judas Priest being far more influential, but I prefer '80's Metallica over Judas Priest; though Judas Priest have stayed true to their Metal roots.
@jakethreesixty also, I'm not exactly a HUGE Fan of them both as I used to, the greatest and most talented Band that exists I believe to be is Pink Floyd. Though my favourite Genre is Death Metal.
I'd prefer Judas Priest over Iron Maiden ...any day....Not a stupid comparison but I find Iron maiden quite monotonous a lot of times...though I like one or two of their albums....on the other hand Priest have always been different and heavier with each album that came out....Rob the God Halford and his army rule.....\m/
@devilive14 Iron maiden is great, but they sound the same every song. Thats where priest differs; each song is compeltely different, but they all have that subtle priest feel!
@PianoplayerX007 You have to be brain dead to believe either band sounds completely the same with each song or album. What the hell are you doing? Because whatever it is, it must be strong!
Noone sings metal like RH . Sure there may well be better rock singers out there but i think its the utter absence of any soul in his voice that so suits the genre. You get a sort of warmth from say Plant, Rogers,Ozzy etc and an element of laddish humour from the likes of Paul Stanley and Bon Scott but with Halford it's just icy spite. Vastly underrated in my opinion. Thanks for sharing this f****** masterpiece.
@onepolej He may have a great range, but when I listen to him Sing it sounds like nothing compared to Rob Halford. Then again, I'm no vocal specialist.
@mujuma You don't have to be, Bruce wasn't a great singer tbh... The first guy was better (forgot his name sorry) but Maiden were cool for a little while... The new album sucks and rips these Gods off like crazy... Just my opinion, but many of my friends agree...
@bathoryfan95 Their lyrics are hardly like Led Zep where it takes ages to figure out what they're on about, I seriously don't like their newer stuff anyway if you ask me, sorry... Thye were very cool when they were epic though...
@UKLegendUK they are cooler than ever.they behave in step wit their years.they know that they are old and they don`t want to be something that are not...and they deserve a respect because of that ...
@mujuma Bruce has more depth but a slightly lower range (emphasis on slightly) as well as being cleaner and more melodic
Rob has less depth but a somewhat wider range along with being grittier and heavier
Their differences cancel each other out, so I guess it's a good thing they're friends with one another. Two great vocalists being shared amongst the rock/metal community is certainly better than a metal version of the east side versus west side crap.
They sing in another Singing style. There are 4 styles of them, curbing-neutral-edge-overdrive (or somethign like that). Bruce sings almost always with his full trothle lol... Rob uses a sort of twang in his voice, what can make him sing high pitched notes :) It's something like that, not quite sure. As you can hear, Bruce his voice has way more distortion as Rob. Both voices fit nice in their music.
@nehocyrrah If you read it fully you'd realise I was replying to someone, I believe Rob Halfords a greater Singer, but also Bruce has a very good voice.
I've always felt that Halford was better when he was on but Bruce was more consistent. Halford during his prime was pretty untouchable though.
Bruce seems to have gotten better with age for some reason. If you watch older performances and compare them to today he seems to have alot more control over his voice.
Maybe in your opinion, but I think Bruce is very overated. Theres a ton of better Singers then him, and his range isn't very impressive. It's just because of him being apart of Iron Maiden, his personality and that hes a top bloke that everyone respect him as a "Metal God". If he were in some tramp-bogan Band that sold a few thousand Albums, no-one would care.
@mujuma agree completely listening to halford from the early years to the 80's to painkiller to now i only see how amazing he is. he is very versatile too doing blues then hard rock than metal than glam then thrash and death style its quite amazing. evenm more amazing that he still had that range for painkiller almost 30 years since they fromed! he can still sing great too. his solo work is quite phenomal with halford and fight as well.

Metal
metalshark69 1 year ago
Noone sings metal like RH . Sure there may well be better rock singers out there but i think its the utter absence of any soul in his voice that so suits the genre. You get a sort of warmth from say Plant, Rogers,Ozzy etc and an element of laddish humour from the likes of Paul Stanley and Bon Scott but with Halford it's just icy spite. Vastly underrated in my opinion. Thanks for sharing this f****** masterpiece.

bruces range is not very inpressive?????
his range is C2-B5 which is on note short of 4 octaves! just watch his vocal range vidioes

UKLegendUK 1 year ago
@UKLegendUK for you it sucks because you don`t understand them.you must understand maiden to listen to him ...
bathoryfan95 1 year ago
@bathoryfan95 Their lyrics are hardly like Led Zep where it takes ages to figure out what they're on about, I seriously don't like their newer stuff anyway if you ask me, sorry... Thye were very cool when they were epic though...
UKLegendUK 1 year ago
@UKLegendUK they are cooler than ever.they behave in step wit their years.they know that they are old and they don`t want to be something that are not...and they deserve a respect because of that ...
bathoryfan95 1 year ago
@bathoryfan95 I disagree, the number of the best and the preceding albums were their best years, sadly gone down hill though...
UKLegendUK 1 year ago
@mujuma Bruce has more depth but a slightly lower range (emphasis on slightly) as well as being cleaner and more melodic
Rob has less depth but a somewhat wider range along with being grittier and heavier
Their differences cancel each other out, so I guess it's a good thing they're friends with one another. Two great vocalists being shared amongst the rock/metal community is certainly better than a metal version of the east side versus west side crap.

@onepolej
Hm acutally. The difference is this i think:
They sing in another Singing style. There are 4 styles of them, curbing-neutral-edge-overdrive (or somethign like that). Bruce sings almost always with his full trothle lol... Rob uses a sort of twang in his voice, what can make him sing high pitched notes :) It's something like that, not quite sure. As you can hear, Bruce his voice has way more distortion as Rob. Both voices fit nice in their music.
Great version of Victim of Changes :D

What!!! Bruce dickenson sings better than Rob Halford? Are you sick or just plain stupid!!!!!!!!!
nehocyrrah 1 year ago
@nehocyrrah If you read it fully you'd realise I was replying to someone, I believe Rob Halfords a greater Singer, but also Bruce has a very good voice.
It's my opinion.
mujuma 1 year ago
@mujuma I was agreeing with you man!!!

@mujuma
I've always felt that Halford was better when he was on but Bruce was more consistent. Halford during his prime was pretty untouchable though.
Bruce seems to have gotten better with age for some reason. If you watch older performances and compare them to today he seems to have alot more control over his voice.

halford rules there would be no bruce dickerson without him dick
texasswat 1 year ago
rob halford was is an amazing singere and certinly has some range on him but he cant even hold a candle to bruce dickinson
onepolej 1 year ago
Maybe in your opinion, but I think Bruce is very overated. Theres a ton of better Singers then him, and his range isn't very impressive. It's just because of him being apart of Iron Maiden, his personality and that hes a top bloke that everyone respect him as a "Metal God". If he were in some tramp-bogan Band that sold a few thousand Albums, no-one would care.
Just how it goes.
mujuma 1 year ago
@mujuma agree completely listening to halford from the early years to the 80's to painkiller to now i only see how amazing he is. he is very versatile too doing blues then hard rock than metal than glam then thrash and death style its quite amazing. evenm more amazing that he still had that range for painkiller almost 30 years since they fromed! he can still sing great too. his solo work is quite phenomal with halford and fight as well.
