  • Two doors because they used to be separate rooms which shared a bathroom. In the mid-80s that was. And it wasn't unusual for two people to be in each room, so 4 people sharing that bathroom.

  • i hope i get stationed in misawa as well..

  • Thanks for posting my sons room looks the same !

  • Are these Officer dorms ? I wish mine were like that one.

  • Dude, this is BS!!! We (army) don't get a living room or anything like that. Granted, I do have my own room that connects to another room (my roommates). You airmen are.lucky. It's a lil more like home. Marines have it worst though. 3 men to a room... Still, I envy you.

  • Also where do you wash your clothes?!

  • Do you have this dorm to yourself?!

  • I Was there 02-05 and we are returning in Jan. Right when I moved outta the dorm they gave us both rooms. But before that it was 1 in each room and shared the bathrooms. I actually like ld the wall lockers better then the shit the put on the walls.

  • When I was there in the 80s I think 4 people were in that whole set up. 2 in the "living room" and 2 in the "bedroom" and they all shared a bathroom. No fridge, etc if I'm remembering that correctly...

  • Wow, I concur with ledzepphed....I was there with the Marines from 89 till 92. Two Marines to each room and we shared the bathroom. This set-up is NICE !

  • I'm here right now just arrived 3days ago here for about week chillin in one of the Inn rooms pretty cool places

  • WTF- Those very same rooms in the 80's were TWO people to EACH room. Cushy digs these days!!

  • @ledzepphed

Two people in each of these individual rooms? Are you serous? I don't think I could have survived two years like that man, aw dude naw.....how are you supposed to bring chicks over? hahaha.

  • @TheLazyFrodo

I shit you not.....made for some embarrassing moments, especially when you were on the crapper and had no choice but to hear EVERYTHING in the other room. I forget the building #, but I worked on The Hill back in the day.

  • @ledzepphed you were probably in dorm 672. I was a telecomm tech and worked in the comm center on the hill. I was in 671, next door, but when i first got to misawa, I was assinged to the Communications Squadron, and when AF transferred communications personnel to the Majcomms, those of us that were assinged to the hill were reassinged to the 6920 ESG, the predecessor to your present hill unit.

  • I was stationed at Misawa from 1989 to 1991. you said in the video that you didn't know what the other door's function is. well, when i was there, your "room" is actually 2 rooms. The bathroom seperated the two rooms, and depending on your rank, e-4's and Below were 2 per room, so that little bathroom that you showed was used by 4 people. they didn't provide us with a microwave, we had 2 in the common room, and we had to go down there to warm any food up.

  • cant wait... I PCS there in september.

  • @ImTylerTheCat

Cool....I'm actually PCSing myself in October. Where do you work at?

  • @TheLazyFrodo still in Tech School right now, at goodfellow in texas. I'll be with the 301st when i get there.

  • Wow, big change from what we had. 13th AMU '88-'90. We had 2 guys in 1 big room with our own bathroom. Cool you have your own livingroom area.

  • @wolvermonkey Same here. USAF Hosp Misawa, Flight Surgeon's Office. 85-88. Hospital had brand new dorms built for us and they were still dinky one room. Plus a roomate thrown in to make you really claustrophobic. Oh well, it was good "conditioning" if I ever had to live in a foxhole...

  • Holy shit!! Misawa dorms are nice, I'm at Whiteman and I'm in a 10' by 12' box and I share a bathroom with the guy next to me. Also what's ur AFSC? I noticed you mentioned the bomb dump.

  • @lordhailen Yeah, these dorms aren't too shabby; too bad the internet here blows. My Job is Ammo. You?

  • @TheLazyFrodo Lol I'm Ammo too, do you know an Acosta? Really skinny Columbian guy...talks about Long Cat a lot.

  • @lordhailen haha, hell yeah we know skeeter (that's what we call him, you know from the show Doug). Really nice kid, I actually just ate dinner with him a few nights ago. He works over at PGM over here, I'm Conventional myself. I know, that I know a few cats over at Whiteman, but the only one I can think of from off the top of my head is a cat named Ian Sondergaard.....does that ring a bell? He was in my class at tech school.

  • @TheLazyFrodo Oh ya, I know Sondi. He's actually about to go to Korea, ya'll were only a few blocks ahead of me in Tech School. I was in "Skeeter's" class, we made him make the coffee since his grandpa was Juan Valdez. LOL

  • Damn, all the way in Japan!? Shower looks like a damn gas chamber. Haha. Must be nice there though.

  • Hey im PCSing to Misawa next month....what are the LRS dorms like...or are those LRS dorms??

  • @gelibelly101

You're lucky.....the LRS dorms (if memory serves correctly) are part of the "Old Brass" quarters; meaning you should have a full kitchen and a shower with a separate bathtub, they are quite nice I hear.

  • Huh, I have the same poster... The one above your bed.

  • yep...that was my entertainment center and two drawer whatever the hell you call it desk

  • @bte78 Yup, I'm also at 673.....it would definately suck if all we had was one of the rooms sharing a bathroom.....but to have both rooms like this with your own bathroom makes a HUGE difference in living quality. I'm very grateful for that. I would love to be stationed at Yokota (Party in Tokyo anyone?) but I think there's only like 4 ammo troops stationed there haha. Internet really isn't bad at all....it just isn't fiber.....which I wish it was....oh well. Take Care.

  • hey is it hard to get to transfer to misawa?

  • @saskekun101 It depends on what your AFSC is....what's needed at the base at the time.....and if your already overseas or not. If your a 5 or 7 level as opposed to a 3 level that will help you out even more as well. This just happened to be my first base....I did put it down on the top 3 in my dream sheet....but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with me getting stationed here or not.....good luck!

  • @TheLazyFrodo thanks

  • This vid is awesome!

You get a frickin living room, that's tight. Does that depend on rank?

  • @dineroRM Thanks for the comments. No, it doesn't depend on rank....everyone who lives in the dorms gets these....there are other dorm buildings that have just a single room....but it is a big room compared to the two medium-ish rooms you see here. If your a staff (E-5 or above) then your eligible to live off base in your own house....which is a much sweeter deal....except in the winter time. And no these ceiling fans were here when I got here.

  • They recently install the fans?

  • I'm jealous man. My dorm is nowhere near that nice

  • Are you enlisted cuz I thought enlisted didn't get a dorm to themselves lol

  • @FordCopChrist1995 The worst case scenario you'll ever see is having to share a bathroom with another person.....which I guess used to be the case with these dorms but now we get both rooms.....which is pretty sweet.

  • IYAAYAS

  • your a raging homo! HMMmmmmHMMMMmm DAT DEA BOYEEEE.

hey noob, just wondering if u know an AB davis that is coming to japan unless thats you. it says thats whose coming to conventional i believe.

  • is that what the dorms look like? thats pretty cool man! im supposed to head to misawa sometime in april, im currently in sheppard AFB for tech school. thanks man i was really curios about the dorms there.

  • Glad you enjoyed the vid...My room looks a lot different now though, as we got a bunch of new furniture. I went to Sheppard as well; are you AMMO?

  • yes sir! AMMO!! i just got some information on my sponsor today, it says im projected to be in control...i doubted though, they say they dont ussually place new airman in control, dont really think id like it anyway! if your AMMO ill probably see you there, im really looking forward to going to japan!

  • Yeah that's true; I know our shop could use people (conventional) so there's actually a good chance you may end up working with me. Hit me up when you get here man and I'll show you around I'm Dorm 673. Oh and who are you're cadres at tech school? If it's Sgt. Varney tell him Mast said whats up.

  • well i actually found out ill be in storage shop. (better than control) my cadres so far have been mainly Tsgt Rhodes, Tsgt Heier but i also had Ssgt vitale for a while. Sgt Varney is still there but i havent seen him recently, i think he works swing shift.

  • Do you play online with you PS3?

  • I do, but not at the moment. As soon as I get my car paid off in a few months I'll subscribe to the Internet service here on base. Unfortunately while the rest of Japan gets to enjoy super fast fiber Internet, were stuck with crappy Verizon DSL here on base...oh well. If you want to go ahead and add me my GT is EvilPapaSmurf.

  • Snap! Thats my room ya got. Lots have change. Miss Japan soon much!!!!
