Seeing Louis CK absolutely killed, just red faced and wheezing is so cool and different. He's usually so aloof and he reigns himself in reactions-wise, but seeing him just sit there and shit himself laughing like a regular dude is amazing. Humanizes him for me in a big way.
i'd like to see Craig Ferguson, Louis CK, Eddie Izzard and Dave Chapelle do this together
Craig for his monologue brutally honest humor, louis for the dirty angry humor, Eddie for the brilliant intellectual humor and Dave for the confident fucked up humor
Oh come on, we can't say definitely that this one's an asshole and that one's not funny when we all laugh at different things! Isn't that the beauty of comedy?
I'm in a coffee shop with a slew of people surrounding me, and Ricky's laugh has got me STRUGGLING to keep it together so I don't look crazy as shit!!!
It's interesting to see how Cris Rock when he's on stage he controls the room, he's like what a director is to his orchestra; however, among his peers, he almost comes across as shy (probably because he has good manners) and avoids talking over other people. Thus, instead of trying to interrupt (like Gervais does, because that's how he is) he just listens, and jumps in when it's the right time.
@TheHouseOffice it's not really related to comedians I think. Have you watched just 5 minutes of Hardball with Chris Matthews? It's an orgy of interruptions. I think it's because people get excited about the subject and they want to jump in all the time.
@00Phat12345 Ah ok, sorry. It's just that I see so many comments like yours on nearly every video with Ricky or Steve in it that aren't written to express a well-reasoned opinion but are written by Americans who don't even attempt to understand the intellectual side of them.
THESE ARE THE MOST UNFUNNY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD....Y'ALL HAVE BEEN FORCE FED THESE SAME ASSHOLES & I'M STILL WAITING FOR A LAUGH....FUCK THESE SCUMBAGS
Don't make things up. They're all friends, that's part of the reason they're doing the show together. Chris and Jerry have spoken highly of Ricky in interviews. Examples can be found to your right. Look at the video "Chris Rock talks about Ricky Gervais".
I'm gonna say British comedy fans, I don't mean all British comedy fans, but just certain groups of them.
Why can't something just be funny? Why is it that if you can't use some literary term to describe why it's funny, it isn't?
Listen, if the comedians you liek get laughs purely from irony, subtle nuance, and whatever the hell other methods, that's fantastic, but don't think it makes them superior to other comedians nor does it make their fans superior to other fans.
"Sitting on a cock cause I'm gay" is funny on multiple levels. Yes, it's an absurd parody, but it's also hilarious because the guy feels the need to explain why he has parked himself on another man's penis, as if there was some confusion regarding his motives. Why else would you sit on a cock? To meditate? You'd think the gay part is self-explanatory. The mere fact that he's cock-squatting should put to rest any doubt of this man's intentions or homosexual tendencies. Yet he explains anyway.
Ricky Gervais dominates the conversation because he's the most articulate, quick-witted comedian in the room - British culture has that standard of eloquence. He created The Office! He was the bravest, most daring host for an award show! He has his own show now and he's made some good movies! He's simply... awesome! ^_^
@warpfield98 yeah, in my opinion, he's the least inexperienced and yet he's interjecting his opinion on every subject and almost challenging the others. It's just smarmy. Not because he's english, no. Some english comedians are amazing like Jimmy Carr or Billy Connolly
@BikiniDeathSquad Jimmy Carr quite frankly is just jokes, and not too much observation. i think Ricky is just being himself here, he is supposed to dish out his opinion so it might help the viewers at home understand comedy better. and why shouldn't he interject on a subject, he is sitting there having a discussion with 3 other people who he knows well and are in the same profession as him. so its not like he has just wondered into a conversation with no frame of reference.
@KittiMitties oh, hahaha...now I know. I will admit scotland is technically a different country. But its interesting the many accents within england, scotland and ireland
@BikiniDeathSquad You're judging your history from a historically inaccurate movie.. ha ha ha your definitely a yank.. get your head out of Hollywoods bullshit history and do some research .. They also are not under England's rule either.. jeez
Gervais's endless detailed picking at every sentence that comes out of your mouth, is a little different from U.S comedy, so he seems a little out of place, but watching this interaction is pretty intriguing.
Ricky Gervais is embarrassingly outclassed by the others. His shrieking and attempts to dominate conversation show him up for the massively subpar comedian that he is.
There are a lot of comedians and comedy fans, especially in Britain, not all British ones, but some, that have these dumb rules about comedy, They have to be able to define why it's funny, or else it's not a good joke. You can't just laugh at something.
@jasanbrapbrown Millions of people across the world would beg to differ... I just felt Chris Rock's input on this show was weak to the point of needless.
@kalifire ricky gervais is the funniest man there he just made without going through all the standup beacuase hes so much funnier have u ever seen the "the office" "extras" "an idiot abroad" if u had you wouldnt be saying that
@youngice6004 They didn't need to. The truth lies more in the fact it's Gervais' comany who produced this. It's still three legends sat with a wannabe.
@kalifire What? look up Ricky Gervais' credentials. He's a guy that an aspiring comedian should listen to. I think this was cast really well. each one of them has their own style of comedy, each one of them have been successful in comedy. To just brush Ricky aside like he's not worth a mention in comedy lol? A critic without critical thinking how.... "ironic".
Ricky's sometimes so awkward in real life (hi5 fail) and his bitter humour, damn, they make him resemble David Brent's moments so much. He's fucking awesome.
Also, Ricky should be in every laugh track ever. But all alone.
@xILambyIx I actually think it's the perfect example proving that there's a lot of crossover between the two styles. I can't decide which is the right reason why the line is funny to me.
@paraquemolestarseenp I agree. I can't help but smile when I hear him laugh. I just recently watched his HBO special Out of England 2. It's one of the funniest and most brilliant stand up specials I've ever seen! He is a genius!
Ricky Gervais is a little bit too pretentious and academic to be funny. But he's good as a member of the group and he really seems to be enjoying himself. And why's he gonna say "oh fuck me" at the end? was it suppose to sound like a freudian slip or was it a freudian slip, and everybody else kind of ignored it, cuz they're like "bless his heart."
@newfrontier99 i mean, maybe he doesn't need to analyze it, but it is true, what he is saying. Also you can't open a comment accusing somebody of being a "pompous twit" by saying "Oh dear." and also - don't say "pompous twit." it's fuckin weird.
@orme96 i guess you missed the irony in @newfrontier99 's "pompus twit" statement......ironic lol.
And I think Gervais didn't find the bit funny, tried to sound superior by spouting some imposed irony junk, realised the rest just found it funny because its a piece of silly word play, then tried to compromise by laughing stupidly and over the top. he's a smug twat who is just desperate to impress people, and that fake grin is superimposed on his face. yuck. horrid creature.
RIcky Gervais is clearly the funniest and most intelligent out of all of these guys. Maybe not funniest because that's opinion but definitely the most intelligent.
"Does he do the whistle"?... Just hilarious !!! It makes it even funnier when they crack each other up!

@zach9899 he says 'fuck me' because he always says that anyway after something so funny...like in all his podcasts

Oh dear, Ricky Gervais and his 'imposing irony' thesis - what a pompous twit.
newfrontier99 3 months ago
@newfrontier99 i mean, maybe he doesn't need to analyze it, but it is true, what he is saying. Also you can't open a comment accusing somebody of being a "pompous twit" by saying "Oh dear." and also - don't say "pompous twit." it's fuckin weird.
orme96 3 months ago
