I'm from Australia which is a long long way from England so unfortunately I never got to see RIDE live. They did tour once or twice but I didn't really know much about them. I discovered Nowhere in about 93 and along with My Bloody Valentine's Loveless and Isn't Anything, it was the predominant album playing on my stereo for the next 2 years.
No way! think I went to this tour - Victoria rooms in Bristol. My first gig, and I soon learnt that if you wear chucks then your toes are going to get mashed up by someones Doc Martens!!
"...Definitions confine thoughts, they are a myth, Words are clumsy, language doesn't fit. But we know there's no limit to thought,We know there's no limits....."
I loved this track when they played it live back in the day...
who gives a toss what it sounds like, ride are still as awesome as ever,i was lucky enough to see them live, and they were magic!seagull was the last song they did as as encore and ,well,my god!
I don't want to be flamed, but does anyone else think the bassline in this song sounds an awful lot like the Beatle's 'Taxman'? Don't get me wrong, I like seagull as well... I just noted a similarity.
yes, it's basically the same bassline note for note just more fluid in Ride's song. But what the hey if you are going to borrow a bassline, who better?
nossa, eles eram muito jovens e as musicas eram mto boas, principalmente do album "Carnival of Light"

They're not the first either, The Jam nicked from 'Taxman' a lot more obviously in 'Start'

as far as specific genres go, Shoe Gaze and "Math Rock" (The stuff from Louisville) are the best. Ride is just about as amazing as MBV.

Is this from the Radio 1 'Great British Music Weekend' thing? If so, I'd LOVE to know if a video of Chelsea Girl is out there anywhere.

Definitions confine thoughts, they are a myth,
Words are clumsy, language doesn't fit.
But we know there's no limit to thought,
We know there's no limits.
Now it's your turn to see me rise,
You burned your wings, now watch me fly,
Above your head.
Looking down I see you far below,
Looking up you see my spirit glow

Well, actually, Ride's lyrics were never really top notch, if you know what i mean... but the music was great. Fantastic band.

I disagree. I really like their lyrics.

My eyes are sore, my body weak,
My throat is dry, I cannot speak.
My words are dead,
Falling like feathers to the floor.
You gave me things I'd never seen,
You made my life a waking dream.
But we are dead,
Falling like ashes to the floor.
