Bahahaha! I looked reeeeeeeeally stupid sitting in McDonald's literally laughing out loud at the Lady Gaga description! The rest of the video was great, but I laughed so hard at that I almost cried!
I have German friends, and instead of saying 'Ah, love ya!' 'Or 'Thanks! Love yoooouuu!!!!' they say 'Ah thanks! I reeeaaally like you!' It always makes me laugh :') They told me that love is only reserved for very strong feeling and they say 'halb-liebe' which literally means 'half-love'. Germans are clever :)
i love soap! i love grilled cheese! i love jesus christ afnaserus (is that what he said?) LMFAO my preacher used this last sunday in church and let me just say......FAF!
I love coffee, I love mountain dew, I love martial arts, I love hardcore punk music., I love most of your videos. Using love is a figure of speech and no one is saying they are romantic or passionately intimate in worship with something like that. Its not the same meaning of "love" as "love". You should study linguistics. Figure of speeches are ok and do not retract from love.
RIGHT ON. It's hard to value certain meanings of words today, but love is not one we should put on the back burner. Use "admire," "respect," "care for," or "enjoy" just a little more people!!! Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
@DinoDude65 and they also misuse the word epic, epic does not mean awesome AT ALL it is mostly a poetry term or it defines something large like "an epic crime wave" etc. so say "THAT MOVIE WAS EPIC!!!!" is incredibly wrong
Ok. I'm confessing it. I'm a middle school teacher & I think your videos are fantastic!
I make my middle school classes watch them. Look, if I asked them to go home & watch them, maybe a few would, but a class, now that is a captivate audience.
Every Friday, the students giggle & hoot throughout an entire video, & then we dissect it afterward. It's a testament to you that while your video may only last a few minutes, the class discussion usually continuous until the bell rings.
You're soo right! Everyone does that! They start going out with someone and say I love you the next day! Like are you kidding me!?!? I LIKE THIS VIDEO!!
''That new Lady-Gaga song? It's like Madonna and the devil had a baby and the baby wouldn't stop crying.'' Hilarious!! Is it OK to say that I love your videos?
I agree with this guy. "Love" is a very strong word. Words have value, and you don't just throw them around without thinking. This video is sssooooo funny!!! :)
There are lots of other words you could put in place for love: Adoration, fondness, cherish, appreciate, infatuation, sentiment, ardor.. the list goes on. Widen your vocabulary, people.
@nicbrooke So instead of saying that I love God, I should say I adore Him, or am fond of Him, or cherish Him, or appreciate Him, or ... ? None of those work. "Love" is the best all-purpose word we have for that in English. And it's already difficult to distinguish between abstract, platonic, carnal, etc. types of love with just one word. So yeah I would agree that "love" being overused is a bad thing...
@wolfieinu I wasn't being specific to what you "love" or "adore" or "are infatuated with." I'm just saying those are other ways of expressing "love" without being repetitive.
I think that all the fighting in the comments is so silly and unnecessary, this video is just really funny, and I intend to enjoy it. Thanks for making people laugh.
I really like this video, it's how I've felt for you know however long I can remember having an opinion, so last year. It's very true, thank you Jordan for putting this video out.
Seriously ADORE (careful word choice) this!:) Hilarious, but also extremely true. People always say that hate is a strong word, but so is love. "Love is a verb, it's something you actively do. " <3
@helenmcgellan The things he says are still sinful. The jokes, ect. So if you feel like this is clean entertainment, you may want to look at your moral values on a deeper level. Ephesians 4:29
@PECOAAC Have you even read Ephesians 4:29? Your comment doesn't follow it all all. What you say may not be unwholesome, but it does NOT build others up according to their needs nor does it benefit anyone who is listening or more appropriately reading. We are called to love our neighbors not to judge them. This kid has good things to say. There is truth in his words if you have the ear to hear it.
@mitchtoler Yes, I have read it. Preventing sin is not benefitting others? I'm not a Christian anyways, btw. :P These are your beliefs. Look at 1:17 Do you believe that Jordan insulting Lady Gaga like that is okay? I had a point. Sadly this kind of hypocritical stuff is all over the place with Christians. Okay, technically any sin pretty much makes you a hypocrite - but the problem with stuff like this is that I don't think people realize how wrong it is. Modern humor is based on it, too :/
@PECOAAC Unfortunately, you didn't prevent anything. What you did do is call two people's morals into question by trying (and failing) to appeal to what you think they cling to morally. Taking literature out of context and then misinterpreting it is just as bad or worse than making fun of Lady Gaga. As far as hypocrites are concerned I don't know a single person who isn't one. You just told someone to live up to moral standards that you don't believe in yourself.
@mitchtoler Yep, we're all hypocrites. That's true. Could you explain how I failed? We've established that he makes sinful jokes. I don't see where I failed, but I'm open to hear why I didn't
@PECOAAC You failed at understanding Christian morals. You seem to only see half, which is the "do not" part and you're dead on about that. What you missed is the "do" part. Bottom line is that I was frustrated that someone who I though was a Christian would call someone else out like that, but your not a Christian so I can't hold you to the same standards. Also, I like arguing/debating. I encourage you to find a better way to prevent sin in the future. Accusations make people defensive.
@mitchtoler I never said I saw Christianity as a list of rules, if that's what you mean. Nor do I think I implied it. If you could explain how I misinterpreted scripture I'd appreciate it. Unwholesome talk is unwholesome talk. Where's the misinterpretation?
@PECOAAC You took one part of one verse and made it work for your purposes. Honestly, you may not even have a case depending on the definition of unwholesome in the original Greek. Just looked. Turns out that what Jordan said might not be considered "unwholesome" by Paul. Again, I agree that Jordan shouldn't make fun of others and again, my original post was meant for a Christian. You implied the rules thing by continually focusing on what is wrong.
@mitchtoler You were not aware of the Greek word for unwholesome before now, therefore I'd like to see you prove your point as you mentioned before, with the understanding of the verse as we both had before. There was a command not to speak unwholesomely (A). There was also a command to build up others instead (B). A is still relevant no matter what B is. Yes, one part of the verse proves my point. The second part didn't change the truth. Where's the problem?
@PECOAAC That seems silly. It's like telling a scientist to solve a problem without the use of new developments in their field, but I'll oblige. The second part of the verse is clarifying to the first. If I wanted people to do good, but just said "don't break the law" I wouldn't get my desired results and I would sound like an authoritarian rather than a mentor. However, if I said not to break the law, but to care for people I would get my desired result and sound like a mentor.
@PECOAAC You see, the second part did change truth. It's clarifying and completes the truth of the verse. My original point was that your comment was not in accordance with Eph 4:29 and I think I've proved that. My next point was that you misinterpreted the verse and I've proved that at least twice. (1) Your understanding of the word "unwholesome" is lacking and (2) you took a small piece of a larger statement out of context. If you really want the truth you must take the whole verse.
@PECOAAC The sad part is that you're not really after the truth. If you were really after the truth you would have asked helenmcgellan a question rather than trying to correct him/her. Don't presume that just because you can read the Bible that you know the truth of it. The surface may seem crystal clear, but truth is often found in the murky depths. I am finished with this argument. If you really want the truth all you have to do is ask.
@PECOAAC I can't agree that what he says is sinful. First, you need to define sin... But I'm not going to go in to that. He is presenting his opinion through ironic comments. Also... I don't think God has a very high opinion of what Lady Gaga does. Yes, He values and *loves* her, but not her lifestyle etc. Jordan is not sinning through his jokes, for multiple reasons. I agree with mitchtoler that you have skewed understandings. Try learning about the God before you judge the followers...
So you rag on people for overusing the word "love," yet half your videos have the word "hate" in the title. Hmm.

PECOAAC 1 month ago

This is awesome! I have been annoyed by the misuse of the word love for a long time now, it is wonderful to see it presented so well.
