This was one of the great episodes.

Yes it was sad but my God.

Noble's speech about forgiveness, love, loss, and the designer of the Universe coupled with Weller's reunion with his wife and the letter at the end makes this among the greatest works of science fiction ever written for a one hour format.

well said! I was feeling really upset at the end of this episode, specially when Alistair time traveled to get into the same car with his wife.. then Walter receives the letter and I was in shock.. I wish fringe will never ends.

There are multiple ways to read into why he went back into time and stepped into that car.

I prefer to think at the end he finally accepted his wife's death as God's will and the Universe as God's domain but couldn't stand the idea of living without her forgiveness.

It is the Paper Tulip at the end though that contains the most sublime mystery.

Did Weller decide of his own free will to pretend he was God and send that Tulip?

Or was it part of God's plan to send Noble a sign?

@ivlfounder I think Noble just wanted to make Walter feel less guilty about what he done in past and because that Walter talked to him and told him about Peter he decided to accept it and return back to his wife and the reason of the paper tulip is that Noble believed that Walter saves people's lifes so he wanted that Walter to keep going about whats he doing.
