People the video is satire! I was 15 when this video came out and even I realized that at the time. Sorry to see that a lot of "adults" still don't get it nearly 10 years later.
I love the fact half the people who come watch this don't understand what the video is about. They don't understand the reason that the picture is gray and raw in some shots and clear and HD in others. They don't understand the lyrics or anything. It makes this song seem so much more special to me because I actually understand it and can appreciate it that much more. It's like my own little secret not many other people understand.
1. Good lyrics, she sounds great. So if you have a problem with her sexiness, look away.
2. If you listen to her more recent albums, you'll find she has definitely stuck with down to earth folk music, singing of god, ect. In interviews she said she made this album for FUN. And as many have pointed out, she is mocking media traits in this video, not selling out. And even if she did become a shallow performer like Spears or Gaga.. She doesn't exist for YOU, ya know.
She is not now the Jewel i fell in love when she used to praise God with songs like "Jesus loves me" or "Hands". In this video she is acting like the rest, commercial and showing her body like Britney, kesha, etc What a pitty! :(

i knew this song when i was like 3 or younger and used to have the CD but then i broke it some how and then my dad got me a new one when i was 6 and i think i lost it then when i found it it was broken and my dad wouldn't let me go on his computer so i couldn't go on Youtube to look it up,by the time i was 9 or 10 my dad let me use his computer and found this song and now i'm 13 and a half that still listens to this song :)

@toddmbloom The MADtv writers apparently missed the point when they wrote the parody of this (they pretty much thought that with this video, Jewel became a Britney Spears/Christina Aguilera clone, when really the actual video was a parody of those kind of videos, making the MADtv parody redundant. Though I will give them credit for mocking how sexualized the music business became in the late 1990s, but still, it's nothing that couldn't have been done better anywhere else).
It's 2011 and I still can't get over this video! I'm still like shocked how sexy she is in this video and how much sexiness she has all up in her! Ugh I love her and always wished, since then, she'd make another album with this type of influence because this one of my favorite songs! Follow your heart, your intuition!
The reason this song and video is so awesome is because she was making fun of pop culture at the time and even poking fun at herself. Not many artists will do that. Besides, this proved that while folk music might be where she's best, she could easily make it in the mainstream if she really wanted to. More power to her.

The reason this song and video is so awesome is because she was making fun of pop culture at the time and even poking fun at herself. Not many artists will do that. Besides, this proved that while folk music might be where she's best, she could easily make it in the mainstream if she really wanted to. More power to her.

@TutsRevenge It's a commentary on how most people don't even know what they feel at all anymore and how they're always asking somebody else. They're either looking at magazines or TV to figure out how to behave, think and even how to dress, to the point where they're almost in danger of losing their natural instincts and intuition, losing their ability to make their own decisions. It's about how intuition is a really elusive, fragile thing.

This is the last song i ever heard from Jewel...I remember seeing the music video on Nickelodeon and buying the cd single. And second, this song did not come out in 2006 Vevo; It was released in 2003 since i was only in 8th grade at the time.
