  • I loved this video/song wen it came out lol i remember my mom tellin me to shutup wen i would sing it lmao

  • People the video is satire! I was 15 when this video came out and even I realized that at the time. Sorry to see that a lot of "adults" still don't get it nearly 10 years later.

  • Jesus is LORD

  • I love the fact half the people who come watch this don't understand what the video is about. They don't understand the reason that the picture is gray and raw in some shots and clear and HD in others. They don't understand the lyrics or anything. It makes this song seem so much more special to me because I actually understand it and can appreciate it that much more. It's like my own little secret not many other people understand.

  • With all respect, everyone needs to wise up a little, here.

  • I heard someone comment that Jewel actually did sell out... she sold the some rights to the music, so a commercial could be made.

  • This contains actual video from a day out in L.A., 2003.

  • A very entertaing video, one cannot gainsay.

  • To all the bitchy comments:

    1. Good lyrics, she sounds great. So if you have a problem with her sexiness, look away.

    2. If you listen to her more recent albums, you'll find she has definitely stuck with down to earth folk music, singing of god, ect. In interviews she said she made this album for FUN. And as many have pointed out, she is mocking media traits in this video, not selling out. And even if she did become a shallow performer like Spears or Gaga.. She doesn't exist for YOU, ya know.

  • @SunnyCastform Yes, this is accurate. She is lampooning modern media and tastes.

  • She is not now the Jewel i fell in love when she used to praise God with songs like "Jesus loves me" or "Hands". In this video she is acting like the rest, commercial and showing her body like Britney, kesha, etc What a pitty! :(

  • @DulceSoprano Well... although the point can easily be misconstrued I think... I think that was the point. Like I don't follow her or know much about her (or care, no offense really) BUT I think that's what she was tryin' to say about media/music/everyone else. I think this is an artistic demonstration, ya know? Course I could always be wrong...

  • She's freaking hott!!!

  • Thumbs if you watching this in 2012!

  • That fireman was damn attractive....

  • The accordion rules.

  • is it just me or does Academy Award Nominee Jennifer Lawrence ( Winter's Bone) and Jewel look alike

  • Im here because of Christina Aguilera...

  • Jewel is so hot

  • is she divorced yet so I can marry her?

  • I literally Jizzed

  • It's kinda sad how so many people don't realize this is satirical. She's mocking the media, not selling out.

  • @kaileemouse But still she is selling it, her body mostly, so thats clever.

  • I always loved the fireman scene.

  • She sold out with this song

  • @Yyyyzyyy If you really believe that, then you're stupid!

  • That clip is so cool

  • i luv u

  • Haha, Charlie Sheen!

  • I honestly loved her music when she first started out. it was simple and had meaning.

  • @Boojie30 this has meaning to...

  • @Boojie30 Exactly! Now most of singers sell with her body, not with talent like Adele. She is an example of talent

  • Jewel looks great as a little pop skank. Haha I've got to admit! Beautiful woman. Glad she's a country gal though.

  • I'm glad she only does country music now where she can use her real, raw talents. If she would have stayed with mtv and pop; she would have wasted her talents on pop and rap.

  • did she say charlie sheen

  • my childhood song! :)

  • wow...first time i've seen the video! just....wow!!! LOVE her attitude~!

  • i love her song's!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Im fallin' luv w/ Jewel Kilcher....(again)

    ^^

    ♥Rist™♥

  • She's like the pop version of Lil B

  • i love this song, and video

  • I love you....

  • 0:31 is my favorite when her jacket blows open and you see her bra and clevage

  • Mocking or using, this video is a reminder of how media and the masses can turn the seemingly mundane and inane manners around us into a business. I like it simply because it was surprising to see Jewel in a different light. Just like the various subject matters in the video. Imagine the very act of drinking can transform that simple act into a multi-million business empire.

  • like this video XD

  • this song applies to us now then back then

    too many sell outs smh

  • I'm in total agreement with Tinymoezzy. Jewel seems to making fun of the music business that's more focused on bodies and ads then the music itself.

  • 3:45 Jewel smile, it's so beautiful!!!

  • i lov3 It, JEWEl so UN!qu3

  • she talks about he world in away they way it and its people are changing. well its like that to me.

  • You see I don't think she was that intent on making a statement about selling out, as much as she seemed to be selling out herself. If you really watch the video and ask yourself, "is she mocking others, or is she smothering herself in the glitz & glamor of all that she claims to loath so much?" I come to the conclusion of that latter. How many half witted people watched this video & thought, "dam she's hot!" That's probably your answer on what she achieved with this video.

  • Was 1:48 a mistake? Looks like she tripped and started laughing...cute!

  • Remember everyone getting upset at this vid when it came out coz it was so not the real Jewel? This video was a fuck you to music videos and how no one cares about the songs message and that it's all about some hot blond dancing and looking hot! Excellent video and great message! If only people understood what this was about back then, her album would have sold better!

  • ironia! el sino de una epoca! excelente jewel!

  • wow she is soooo hot!

  • Love how she shows it like it is. If you have a hot girl with her bikini or bra showing it is THAT much more likely to be viewed. Likewise for hot guys without a shirt. She doesn't hide and she shows that it's okay to be yourself.

  • @MundaRox97 THANK YOU! Someone who understood the video!

  • Jewel is just so unbelievable Hott in this video.. just unbelievable..

  • Aw Heck Kids; She's just showing that she can turn da heads if she wants, call her J-well eh? snicker snicker

  • becoming famous turns you into a whore. Make sense.

  • супер:)

  • she looks like kate moss

  • "I'd like her music better if she were naked" - Butthead

  • wow maryl streeep anyone?

  • Fake.

  • This is the world we live in now, odd. lol

  • Damn, she's packed! Copyright,.. me, 2011

  • I FOUND IT. after years of searching. and all i had was her name jewel and that bit where she drunk the sprite look alike bottle.

  • 40 people didn't taste jewel's sprite

  • Amazing, she's so sarcastic! I love it! but it worries me to see that most of people didn't get it.

  • @inherewithus im one of the ppl that doesnt get it, so please explain to me?

  • @inherewithus Yeah, that's sad....I'm like 11 and I get it. (Honors Language Arts Power!)

  • First saw this video on VH1 top 20 video countdown a long time ago... Not sure why it popped into my head. Woohoo for VH1 when it played videos, right?

  • klass....)

  • ugh people the keep criticizing her, this video was a parody!!!!!!!!

  • @arrie85 The reaction was one of the first signs of what we see in music today were people no longer listen to the lyrics and have no comprehension skills. Just have a beat and a hook and the brain dead will come.

  • what is the point of this video? she's walking down the street. and then suddenly she 's dressing up like a whore with all those stupid dance moves which are totally a BIG FAIL. she had these backdancers and she didn't dance at all. there was no choreography at all too! but honestly, I like the song.

  • @MishaJohanna The point is to make fun of how music (and everything else) is promoted and sold these days.

You've got this folksy-sounding singer known for her music and her voice and talent instead of her looks... then all of a sudden she comes out with a pop song. And the video switches back and forth from reality into "marketing mode" where editing and overlays are used to try to make everything seem cool. She's making fun of the pointless half-dressed backup dancers in every other video.

  • @bobdonda lol that just makes 2:40 all the more hilarious!!!

  • Jewels a fine ass, even when attempting hip-hoppy themes which she somehow pulls off even after seeing hands, foolish games and you were meant for me videos *tsk* *tsk* she needs to remain only alternative with primarily accoustic settings :-D Let's go back to 96'.

  • she's funny, but i still like hands better

  • This video was great for displaying what was happening in the music video world at the time. Jewel made a good statement with this video and how so many were selling out.

  • wow i love Jewel!!! she try to dance in this vidklip, even though not really good. But nice try!!

  • i miss her so much

  • tits

  • beautiful gril!!!...

  • nice boobs :P

  • i knew this song when i was like 3 or younger and used to have the CD but then i broke it some how and then my dad got me a new one when i was 6 and i think i lost it then when i found it it was broken and my dad wouldn't let me go on his computer so i couldn't go on Youtube to look it up,by the time i was 9 or 10 my dad let me use his computer and found this song and now i'm 13 and a half that still listens to this song :)

  • Is it bad that this is her only song I really listen to & like? :P

  • He can put my fire out whenever he wants to!

  • her boob almost came out. Would have been an oops moment. Can't believe I had just graduated high school when this came out

  • "You learn love from Charlie Sheen.." bahah

  • @itsj0sue winning!!!

  • what happens to mtv, today only put realitys!!!

  • Ever Since I Was A Kid I Thought The Black Dancer @ 2:39 I Always Thought It Was A Girl Now Watching This In 2011 I See it's A Guy -_-

  • @Quanzilla6 LOL I STILL thought it was a girl till your comment!

  • I'm considering starting a fire in my home if this can give me a chance to be saved by this fine specimen of a man! :D

  • @WaterandInternet Haha yeah most of them are ;)

  • Oh, God! That firefighter is such a sexy guy! I would lead him in the right direction. :D

  • she had a message in this song about people selling themselves...but it went over everyone's heads

  • you didnt have to see that fire fighter to know you were gay.. you listening to this song should of been evidence enough lol. No harm intended :D

  • @VeeVanity LoL i was 11 xD

  • Comment removed

  • @ sibizzar - I remember watching this too as a teenager and after seeing jewel in this vid I KNEW I was straight. :)

  • @vonschmidtaah Haha you didn't reply correctly but ok xD

  • Her teeth are so sexy

  • @RodeWolk yeahhh ... i think so too ... lol

  • She looks like Sharon Case.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG.

  • The 'normal' Jewel was hottest of them all xD

  • ugh i hate in the right corner and they have that playlist and they try to make the title sound cool, like whats hot right now!!! and .addicted.

    gay

  • nice voice

  • I had a crush on her from the start. This video is hot.

  • @mrdonigan Me too! >< I was so young when I first listened to this song and watched the music video.

  • she looks a bit like kate moss in this video

  • I said once...but gotta say again: LOVE JEWEL!And This Song is AWESOME!

  • Love this song so much

  • This song seemingly doesn't answer the question: "But what if my heart (intuition) leads me into bad places that only make my life worse?" I guess the only logical answer is ... some people are just screwed.

  • shes trying to hard here

  • WAIT!! JEWEL CANT DANCE.. THAT DUMBASS BITCH FROM ALASKA IS A BIGGOT!! SCREAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!

  • thumbs up if you still love this song in 2011 :)

  • @DOLLiii3

I always love this song! This is the song that brought Jewel to my attention

  • jewel is so beautiful and she is enhanting and so unique, i love her !!!! NOONE BAGG HER OK! she is a talented singer and has meaningful and amazing songs !!!!

  • lol she cant dance

  • heh slut :D

  • BRILLIANT!!

  • Smoke LCD Smoke!

  • Sell your sin, just cash in, this is what Hollywood and music business are really all about heheh

  • @toddmbloom The MADtv writers apparently missed the point when they wrote the parody of this (they pretty much thought that with this video, Jewel became a Britney Spears/Christina Aguilera clone, when really the actual video was a parody of those kind of videos, making the MADtv parody redundant. Though I will give them credit for mocking how sexualized the music business became in the late 1990s, but still, it's nothing that couldn't have been done better anywhere else).

  • @The4EverYoung85 yup.... i noticed the exact same thing. it just made MADtv look stupid as hell.

  • @PrettySailorSoldier Thanks, I feel so loved. :)

  • I love this song! :D It's got a great message! Follow your heart, your intuition!

  • It's 2011 and I still can't get over this video! I'm still like shocked how sexy she is in this video and how much sexiness she has all up in her! Ugh I love her and always wished, since then, she'd make another album with this type of influence because this one of my favorite songs! Follow your heart, your intuition!

  • She is gorgeous, and I love her voice. Jewel is very talented in many ways.

  • When I view her recent efforts, I see wreckless, confused sensation...when I review her past, I see an emerging Goddess with conviction.

  • Hmmm...I guess Jewel alone is the one to decide on how purity vs commercialism affects how she "Stand(s)". :-/

  • Old, but never ever sick of listening to her <3

  • cunt

  • The reason this song and video is so awesome is because she was making fun of pop culture at the time and even poking fun at herself. Not many artists will do that. Besides, this proved that while folk music might be where she's best, she could easily make it in the mainstream if she really wanted to. More power to her.

  • this song IS about being a sell out and people using products to advertise themselves etc, i was 13 when i first saw this video and i know this...

  • Don't say we miss the point without explaining the point.

  • @TutsRevenge It's a commentary on how most people don't even know what they feel at all anymore and how they're always asking somebody else. They're either looking at magazines or TV to figure out how to behave, think and even how to dress, to the point where they're almost in danger of losing their natural instincts and intuition, losing their ability to make their own decisions. It's about how intuition is a really elusive, fragile thing.

  • เริ่ดมากเลย

  • A Jewel é super fofa e eu adoro que ela não seja tão artificial como outras cantoras. Como ela mesma disse, ela é só uma "garota normal". Adoro-a desde pequeno!

Jewel is so sweet and I love that she's not so artificial like other female singers. Just like she said, she's just a "simple girl". I love her since I was a child! Go, Brasil

  • shes actually got a great body! cute song:)

  • I've watched this because of gwatsky's new song, NEW KIND OF SEXY...

  • i love how they copywrited this in 06 but the video camera says 03

  • This is the last song i ever heard from Jewel...I remember seeing the music video on Nickelodeon and buying the cd single. And second, this song did not come out in 2006 Vevo; It was released in 2003 since i was only in 8th grade at the time.

  • Charlie Sheen reference FTW!!!!!

  • Is she hot or what.

  • I'm now old enough to understand the irony of this song.

  • Дверь запили !

  • you learned love from charlie sheen...ahahahahaha

  • I love the irony of this song XD

  • HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @toddmbloom Indeed , she´s poking fun of the real sold out artists - in a pretty brilliant way , I must say ;)

  • Oh man, this video is hilarious.

  • Haha!!!! Jewel is awesome....she does have a great sense of humor!

  • They have a sexual street light even, lol

  • When the sign says big pimpin, lol. She's funny in this video. Is anyone here because of the Mad TV parody. I love both the actually song and video and parody now.

  • Funny!! Love the jokes!

  • She's hot of course

  • I dont give a fuck how many people says she sold out! She was a hottie before and she is a hottie now. I love her now, and I love her before. I listen to the words of her music and see no real change. But if glammer would sell something I am totally sold, and dont give a fuck. Good music you people are idiots. IMO fans are selling out. God I could just keep blasting away... Everything from crying to smiling for me. Thanks Jewel!

  • I prefer her style before !! Now she's like every other pop star .

  • I'm from Canada and I remember the video being way different from this one when this song came out and was on TV. The part with the firefighters was there, but the rest was different...

  • i think of the damn schick commercial

  • @toddmbloom I would call it shameless self-promotion, hypocrisy, etc. To me, the video is saying, beneath every ordinary fake looking person is another hollywood clone.

  • I'll like her sense of humor!

  • she's cool
