  • Hi to all ... especially our english spoken friends !... This is a "Vielle", in english a "hurdy gurdy" and this a medieval instrument ... No link with Turkey, though it may sound a little "oriental" for some ears ! ;-)

  • The name of the instrument is "hurdy gurdy", is a medieval instrument.

  • wonderful!!

  • can anyone tell what instrument this is i been trying to figure it out for the last two days

  • hurdy gurdy!

  • it's a ghironda, a medieval instrument used originally for gregorian chants and then used by minstrel for their shows in the european courts. ;)

  • I think it's called a hurdy gurdy in english.

  • That's a beautiful sound!

I hope this doesn't offend you, but are you by chance Turkish?

  • He and the music are obviously French.

    Awesome.

  • ha! mega man.too funny

  • Petit bémol. Ca mériterait un pur son !!

Mais je me doute que les fréquences de la vielle sont super chaudes à bien enregistrer.

  • Génial mec. Ca t'a couté combien?

  • love the hurdy gurdy

  • Dude that is so badass, my friend has a black metal band and they want to use that in it, do you know how cool that would be?

  • deathrattleshakes, that's called folk metal (like Finntroll and Moonsorrow)

  • Why did you have to go and respond and just ruin everything. It says 2 MONTHS AGO.

  • I know what folk metal is, my friend's friend's band (in the BLACK METAL band with the hurdy gurdy in it) played a show with Finntroll.

  • dude, Finntroll and Moonsorrow were examples because their music is very similar to black metal, in fact, Finntroll claims to be the prodoct of alcohol and black metal (drunken experimentation)

  • Finntroll uses an Accordion. Eluveitie has a Hurdy Gurdy.

  • not my point, i was mentioning the crossover between folk and black metal

  • Is that a BOurrè?

    Fabolous sound. Great Player

  • Holy crap, this is awesome. Seriously, does this guy have any albums out? Doujin or otherwise, I want higher-quality audio nao! This video has nothing to do with Touhou or Japan, but it's getting a bookmarked by me anyway.

  • wow !!! heavy !!! so muss das klingen !! weiter so !!

  • it's not an oriental music ^^

    C'est de la musique d'origine française :)

  • i have never seen a hurdy gurdy played like that. damn!

  • Nice oriental music:)

  • oriental ? OMG !

  • bravo et merci!

  • la bourrée est géniale,le vielleux aussi.

  • Great sound =)

    Nice

  • Merci. Voilà un instrument qui peut être moderne !

  • mé-dié-val ;)

  • Fantastic sounds. Intriguing. I'm now seeking a CD of this music. Stirring!

  • That is incredible skill right there. Great sound.

  • I read about the buzzing bridge but never heard it as well as this player. It is ausom.

  • Wooah! Merci beaucoup

  • That's easily the best hurdy gurdy playing I've ever heard.

    Bien fait.

  • It was very good plaing, i herd the buzzing bridge well.

  • Well done, sir. Consider yourself five'd.

  • canada has good cheese too.

  • OMG this is great! keep it up!

  • Absolutely amazing! This is the first time I've heard that instrument after doing some resarch on it. I saw an American band called Arcade Fire and one of the women in the group play one of these... now I'm looking to see if I can get one or play one locally!

  • Arcade Fire are Canadian. Nothing as good as them could come from the US... :/

  • Oops, my bad, for some reason I thought they were from Chicago. Ok, so yeah, Arcade Fire from Canada :)

  • Joli. Bien joué romain!

  • wow. absolutely awesome...

  • Cool.

  • Bravo pour votre jeu de clavier magnifique, qui ressemble un peu à ce que fait Durand. Mais votre détaché est très approximatif et cela gâche un peu. Bravo quand même.

  • Oh my God, that just made my day. Fantastic!

  • would be good to have more trompette and less bourdon in the mix. the L hand is awesome

  • This is freaking awesome. So incredible.

  • "Bourrée: a court dance of the 16th century related to the polka. It originated among the peasants of Auvergne [S central France] and consisted of a skipping step.' (Anatole Chujoy: 'The Dance Encyclopedia') -- Thanks, Romain Mathinier, for such a lovely introduction to this music.

  • Trés bien monsieur!

  • trop bien joué

    et vive la bourrée
