I'm usually not into fan videos that meld music & tributes to J or other Trek characters, but loved this. I think J & 7 were really in love in some way, but couldn't admit it to themselves. Or it's just that most of the producers of Voyager were straight men who would have just loved to see them kiss, so they made them as close as possible, in friendship & physically. But it would have made an great storyline. J would have been free to date 7, she wasn't outside the SF command structure.
@palebluedot389 You "think" that they were in love? They couldn't keep away from each other. Janeway violated the Prime and Temporal Prime directives, committed numerous acts of war, including genocide, against the Borg, Klingons and god knows how many other species and took on the entire Borg Collective, putting herself, her crew and her ship in hideous danger and actually sacrificing her own life, just to save 7 and wouldn't consider it until told that 7 would die (and that's just Endgame).
@randomface54 - Uh, well, I only said think because like I said, I am not sure what the intention was behind the obvious closeness between Janeway and Seven. We can say they were in love, but was that the writers' and directors' intentions. As far as Janeway's actions, sure, she was often willing to put the crew on the line for Seven, but she often put Seven in dangerous situations as well, for the crew. But you make her sound like a genocidal maniac.
@palebluedot389 Granted, if you look at it from a clincal, objective point of view, it does appear that J is a psycopath of some description. However, I think the origional intention was to show just how much J loved 7 and how far she would go to protect her. She did request a lot from 7 but that was due to her duty as captain to get her crew home and 7's expertise from her time as a drone was instrumental in the success of the mission. BTW, the various stuff I mentioned her doing were all in...
@palebluedot389 ....the episode Endgame (1 and 2). Finally, despite what the writers and directors (to say nothing of the fans, often the best judges of characters due to their perspective of the show as a "window" into a different life (sorry about the random metaphor) rather than a means to make profit) wanted to happen between J and 7, the producers got cold feet, pulled the plug on it and shacked 7 up with C and refused to correct the mistake with a film, so this discussion is "irrelevant".
@randomface54 - Whatever the writers'/directors' intentions with J/7 were...either we are supposed to ''get it'' that they have romantic feeling for each other or that they simply meant to show that Janeway felt an almost motherly responsibility for her having forced humanity back onto her, and the writers wrote it in a way that was easily misinterpreted by viewers as sexual/romantic we will never know.....
@randomface54 - ...but we can only blame Robert Beltran, Jeri Ryan & Brannon Braga for the silly C/7 storyline. Beltran (this is from his own words in an interview) decided to issue a challenge to Braga thru Ryan when she was dating Braga. He said to Jeri Ryan,"Well now that you're dating Braga, I guess there'll be no Chakotay/Seven kissing scenes." Unfortunately, Ryan took the bait and said, "ooh, I am going to tell him what you said." And she did, and Braga went with C/7....
@randomface54 - ...I don't know if Braga took this to be a challenge to his manhood, as in, "I'll show Beltran that I can write love scenes for my girlfriend, I know it's only work for her," or if he seriously liked the idea of pairing up the characters. As for a movie, we will certainly never get a Voyager movie if Paramount thinks we only want a movie to wrap up different characters love lives.
@palebluedot389 Firstly, the sheer level of flirting between the two of them, especially later on, really shows that their relationship progressed beyond a maternal thing, origionally, Janeway felt a responsibility to help 7 regain her humanity but their relationship, whether open or not, was well past that by the end of the series. Secondly, it's already generally accepted that the C/7 afterthought was Beltran and Braga's fault aulthough I am also unsure of Braga's motives.......
@palebluedot389 .......Finally, there are plenty of unfinished story-lines which a film could wrap up besides Janeway and 7 getting together. For instance: the Vadwar (Dragon's teeth), the Borg (what happened to them after Endgame) and the Doctor's holographic rights campaign, to name but three. I suspect the main reason for no film, aulthough 10 years down the line could work if the crew's lives were just returning to normal in the Alpha Quadrant and they got sent back again could work,......
@palebluedot389 ...... I suspect the main reason for not making a film would be that Voyager was a spin-off series and Paramount didn't think it would bring in as much profits as a film centred around the more mainstream series (Kirk and Picard).
@palebluedot389 - this is me making a correction. What I meant to write at the end there was Janeway would be free to date Seven without having to worry as she always did, about dating someone who was her subordinate. Everyone on the ship was obviously her subordinate. That last sentence should have said that Seven WAS outside Starfleet's command structure. She wasn't even given a field commission.
that was so sad, and yet so very beautiful. Really well done! what was 2:29 from though, I have never seen that one..? Keep these brilliant vids coming!

@randomface54 - It's a lot less romantic a notion, Janeway & Seven, if you make Janeway out to be a murderous psychopath!
