  • 2:07 Mike gets orgasm so scary

  • That dude behind them is Aaron Cometbus!

  • can u guys stop arguing over which album is better. Every single album was great. Dookie may be more punk that some of their newer stuff, but they are doing and making what they want, now thats punk. Besides, their new albums have so much more meaning in the lyrics than the old albums which talked about girls and masturbation

  • They're playing this so slowly!

  • Its kind of sad that those Idiots at Gilman Street hate them because they went to a Major Label...What else are they supposed to do? Sit around and play in Basements the rest of thier band Years? Seriously, people think I through.

  • @xPo1S0nXs0DaX

They Don't hate them - its just a Gilman Rule that no-one on a Major Lable can play there. Pinhead Gunpowder can still play as they arent on a major lable. Also Green Day have infact played there since the signed to reprise, I have a DVD of one of the times they played there in 2001

  • @proudtofail i agree, gdtorrent rules.

  • @marillo26 Hehe i didn't get it from there but yeah GDT is great :)

  • @proudtofail They also played Gilman in '99 my uncle was there

  • @1994evol

He is a lucky guy!! I don't suppose he remembers any information from the gig? Even just date, songs played or even a photo?

  • @proudtofail The setlist was:

    1. Going to Pasalacqua

    2. My Generation

    3. 409 In Your Coffeemaker

    4. At the Library

    5. 86 (My uncle said that the people who worked at Gilman got PISSED when they played it!)

Then they left because they were booed off the stage (mostly due to 86)

  • @proudtofail Oh I almost forgot! Tre wanted to play Food Around the Corner, but then they changed their minds and played At the Library, instead!

  • @proudtofail One last thing, Mike used his G3 Gibson for the show! Pretty cool, huh?

  • @1994evol Thanks for the information man :). Do you remember the date? Good memory to remember the setlist after so long! Or do you have a recording or something?

Thats pretty sweet about his G3 ..... love that bass!

  • @proudtofail The date was September 15th, 1999. No people were allowed to record the show AT ALL (audio/video/pictures), but my uncle did anyway LOL! There is footage but if I uploaded the video, it would be out of sync, add in the factor of the colors being washed like that Rome gig from '96, then you got yourself a fucked up concert. I am so sorry to tell you this.

  • they played 86 really slow

  • How the fuck did Green Day sell out? They wouldnt do anything they didnt want to do you dumb fuckers. They do what they want and even if every fan said they would quit listening to them it wouldnt change a thing, they would do what they want. And they put their hearts into american idiot and 21st century breakdown. I have to admit i like their older albums more but whatever man its all good. if you were a real fan you wouldnt question it.

  • @TheGreendayfan29 i wish i could like your comment more than once

  • @TheGreendayfan29 and u gotta change with the times and if they stayed the same they get boring like insomniac and 39/smooth sound diffrent so do warning and dookie ya no

  • Fuck they must have played this after I moved! DAMNIT! I moved that year...

  • Comment removed

  • I was yelling at the fat lady around the end to fricking get off who ever and get her fat asś Down

  • does any one noe how to play this on guitar if u do can u give a lesson plz(would be greatley appreciated)

  • @BaseballXaverian2010 yeah sure mate, i'll try and get one up this week or next week

  • @TheWashburner Thank you

  • Comment removed

  • @BaseballXaverian2010 you really can learn about any green day song in about 2 minutes. they're all super simple and that's why they're so catchy - just like the Ramones.

  • @skapunkarmy ya but im trying to find some one to make video i found no accurate tabs

  • @skapunkarmy where's the problem?

  • @gdpr no that wasnt an insult to green day. all i'm saying is they wrote great songs when they were super simple. blink 182 did the same in my opinion and same with the offspring. not many bands can really master the technical style of punk except for rancid and anti flag really.

all i'm saying is that green day is dope.

  • @skapunkarmy How about Bad Religion? Operation Ivy back in the day?..NOFX? The Ramones & The Clash? Social Distortion.. Are we speaking in modern terms here or was that just a general comment?

I completely agree..Green Day are dope!

  • @AudibleJoes no absolutely, punk in general. NoFX, Rancid, Casualties, Adolescents, Minor Threat, Addicts, Lagwagon, Millencolin. It's all super simple stuff. But once you start to go into hardcore and post-hardcore like Rise Against, Anti Flag, and Strung out and such, it gets a bit more tech. Seriously though, punk has the greatest energy and just the best all around vibes. Pumps me up.

  • @skapunkarmy Yeah its a versatile genre so it really depends on the area your talking about. Every punk band plays a different style, be it Ska or a more grunge style so its difficult to say one band is better than another. Definitely the most energetic type of music though!

  • everybody shut the fuck up about whether they are punk are not, regardless theyre still fucking amazing and they play the greatest music on this planet .

  • Now this is the Green Day I remember. Haven't seen them live since the Nimrod tour. But saw them many times before that. Right now, I'm thinking back in awe of seeing Mike airborn for half the show...jumping off of amps...diving into the crowd. Mike and Billie dumping beer over my head in Hartford, CT. I'm sure their shows are just as amazing nowadays. But there's just something about seeing the three of them up on the stage playing their hearts out. It was a special time in the early 90s

  • hey wheres tre cool?

  • @velvetrevolver84 Hmm, on the fuckin drums, idiot

  • @dutyorpoop58734 haha you brainless faggot...I mean why the cameras didnt showed him ;)

  • 86 is like slow motion and geek stink breath is little speed up XD

  • Chuck Norris can return from 86

  • @Homer22234555 Chuck Norris is gay.

  • @SGKlD BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Homer22234555 That would have been witty back in the year two thousand.

  • is this proper slow?

  • ps I know bands mature, but compare the last cd to the first handful of stuff, and it just sucks. I went to a show last year in oakland and it was full of screaming fucking teen girls? punk band no more.

    green day=sellout

    Ramones never sold out

  • @jimromerulez yes, they are clearly sell outs because there were screaming teen girls in the crowd and you don't like how their last album sounds...this is all dispite the fact they are doing what they've been doing since day 1...

  • @jimromerulez every band sells out some bands sell out more like mettelica but green days latest album mabe got other crowds i went but other crowds of people instead of the same ones every time or mabe tre wanted some younde female tits

  • @jass420punk i love all their albums, no two albums have ever had the same sound so mehh everything they do kicks ass

  • @jimromerulez selling out would be compromising your beliefs and feeling for money and popularity, watch some interviews or live performance and then tell me they truely sold out... a fucking punk elitist is what you are, you are no better than the teeny boppers at a jonas brothers show

  • thanks for this.

I was there, and due to the fact they did not advertise that green day was there it was only about 1,000 people there.

  • People need to understand that any green day is awesome fucking green day! <3

  • the green day i loved, not the 21st century bullshit

  • i really can't believe this was only four years before american idiot

    they seem soooooooo different

  • who is the other guy?

  • I wish they would play more Insomniac nowadays........

  • geek stink breath has to be one of my favs by green day along with waiting and 100 hours :)

  • letterbomb and one for the razorbacks are really high on my list.

  • there playing 86 pretty slow here

  • i noticed that too lol owell

  • I read in an internet website that gilman street hates green day because they went to a mayor label, that is so sad, but green day is the best!

  • they don't hate them, the venue just doesnt allow major label bands to play there, its strictly for smaller bands... IE pinhead gunpowder

  • @eduardo0796 they played gilman in 2001. it was a very discussed show though

  • Really?

    thats crazy.

  • yup its true i have the video of the gig and there was not a lot of ppl there. they only played a short number of songs.

  • Damn, what was the reception?

  • the audience liked it but it was very discussed after the show

  • Yeah, thats kinda crazy actually.

  • @eduardo0796 It's more than sad, it's stupid. Punks at Gilman liked The Ramones and The Clash and shit but they were sign to a major label too. It's not like Green Day signed to a major label to be rock stars. They just wanted their music heard. Even when they were playing at Gilman and signed to Lookout they were selling more record copys than anyone ever signed to that label because they were good. They had 500-600 people a 200 person shows and they'd have to shut 'em down.

  • @eduardo0796 The point is, Gilman Street and Lookout records just could not contain the talent and the drive this band had to just be heard and play all over the world.

  • @eduardo0796 thats because punk is supposed to be underground, you are not supposed to be on a major label and make million of dollars, they felt betrayed.

  • @stpaulie It is supposed to be underground right? What about The Ramones? What about The Clash? What about sex pistols? Don't you think they went to a major label just to sound so far away, more than Berkley even California?

  • @eduardo0796 Im talking about THEIR point of view, not mine, and Green Day are from the San Francisco punk scene, THEY are the ones that felt betrayed, the people from Gilman that supported them from the beginning. Its like breaking a rule. Ramones and Clash came from a different scene.

  • @stpaulie Punk is not supposed to be underground, its not about wether you have millions of fans or or how you dress, its the fucking additude you play with, the fact that you dont give a damn how people see you is what makes you punk, not being underground!

  • @speakingincolor in order to be classified as a punk rock band you need to play PUNK music LOL unfortunately Green Day is not a punk band anymore

  • @Avinashda ur dumb

im gunna assume ur gunna say green day stopped being what you call 'punk' during AI right?

well whats the definition of punk? its doing something that has never been done before and goes against the norm.

AI was the first CD of its kind to tell the story like that. so by definition american idiot was as punk as it gets

  • @swantonkincaid oh yeah and the Backstreet Boys are a death metal band , now lets all sing Kumbaya

  • @Avinashda ur retarded

  • @swantonkincaid and you have AIDS :)

  • @Avinashda

So Billy Idol isn't a punk anymore? These guys had a punk history. Billy Idol will always be known to be punk at heart. But Green Day's change was so unseen, that people hardly know of the band's past. What a waste.

  • @speakingincolor thats somehwat true but you need to have a punk sound to be punk 21st century and american idiot do not have that sound. THIS is punk. THIS sound. They didnt really sell out but when they have so many fans and the majority of those fans want stuff that's more modern and softer thats what you get. IE - AFI, Rise Against, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, the list goes on...

  • @skapunkarmy 21CBD and AI had song that had a punk sound, were they entirely punk? no. but "St. Jimmy" was an awesome example of punk on AI. and on 21CBD there were "Horseshoes & Hand Grenades" and "Peacemaker". the fact is Green Day has never been conventional punk, i mean seriously... what about "Misery" "Warning" "Rest" or "Good Riddance"? they have always been more melodic than most punk band, the inclusion of a piano do not take the punk out of the music, they are and always be 100% punk .

  • @speakingincolor nahh man you dont get it. punk isnt supposed to have a clean sound like it does on American Idiot. Go check out NOFX or Anti Flag or The Casualties or Rancid - thats punk. Mike Dirnt stopped putting in kickass basslines and bass fills, that's when it started to die. That's another part of punk - the bassline is not supposed to be doing exactly what the guitar is doing. yes they had good riddance and warning - but having a slow song doesnt mean its not punk. look at rise against

  • @speakingincolor well old rise against. look up "six ways til sunday" by rise against, or "Time Bomb" and "Ruby Soho" by Rancid. or "We are all we have" by The Casualties, or "The Press Corpse" by Anti Flag. I'm just trying to introduce you to some serious punk and show you the difference between that and St Jimmy and Know your enemy. seriously go listen to that and then come back to me

  • @skapunkarmy dude... don't worry... i know punk. i know about all the rancid, casualties, anti-flag, rise against, agent orange, nerf herder, descendants, replacements... and all those other bands. i'm just saying... Green day is still punk

  • @speakingincolor although i disagree, it's good to hear that some current green day fans know about the good stuff. but to each his own.

  • @skapunkarmy are u kidding me? NOFX has put out a bunch of songs that were clean sounding. i love just about every punk band and I agree with speakingincolor, green day are still punk.

  • @eduardo0796 they dont hate green day, gilman only books unsigned and independent label bands. billie still playes there with Foxboro Hot Tubs and Pinhead gunpowder.

  • @eduardo0796 and thats why he wrote this song

  • @eduardo0796 thats what 86 is about. At the Gilman when you get banned its called being 86'd and GD got 86'd when Dookie came out so this song is from a fans point of view.

  • @eduardo0796 Yeah, they ban anyone who "sells out".

Which is ridiculous. What would you rather have had? Green day die out and split up before the millenium, or change their style slightly, become modernised and start doing stadium tours?

Atleast Gilman Street helped make Green Day what they are today. Even if they don't like them any more.

  • @eduardo0796 ya but all the bands that were baned rom there arent n e more

  • @eduardo0796 ya but all the bands that were baned rom there arent n e more i meen they probably do still hate them or maybe the original ppl do but ya

  • @eduardo0796 they just don let them play, cuz its on their rules, but billie helps the place a lot in the past, buying equipment and give them money, if gilman hates them , then why pinhead plays there?

sorry for my english, its not my natural lenguage.

  • @marillo26 They hated green day in the 90's prob cuz they went to a major labor and no underground band can sign with a major labeling company...this song is a big fuck you to them...gilman street is the reason why green day was a band because billie first went there and got the idea to make a band because he felt everyone there is the same as him...hate school pothead and love music

  • @eduardo0796 You totally got it right let me tell you. Mayor label's are some fucked up shit! -.-;

Every single dumb shit that gave you a thumbs up for that comment deserves a face palm ten times the magnitude of the one "emo-kids" get.

  • being 86d, meaning being kicked out of something or somewhere

  • In "86" what is he referring to as the number 86?

  • no..

  • lol nice name hahaha

  • I think it was a term or something for like..being outcasted.

  • @GreenDayIsntGay

"86'd" means getting kicked out and not to return, which they were referring to Gilman St club in Berkeley once they were branded a sell out when they signed with major record label

  • he's talking about when he and mike were 'sweet children' at gilman street, and once they did dookie, all their former fans thought of them as sellouts because they went to a major label.

  • 3:50

    new olympic sport?

    synchronized jumping?

    haha

  • @JbHa82 Like on the movie Punk's Not Dead, they said that's what punk rock is. Synchronized jumping! ;)

  • is that cometbus back there?

  • no, it's timmy chunks

  • sorry for my english, i'm from chile, and here it's really weird find people who know the lenguaje :)

  • hes wearing a jumper =)

  • haha

  • Como extraño al Greenday de antes.....Eran lo mejor !!!!

  • que razón tienes!

  • this it's the real green day not the actually green day, not pop, that's it's only punk rock

  • @KOlarT well you would be surprised to know that with Insomniac they didnt sound like Green Day at all, they wanted to show people at Gilman and at San Francisco how "punk" they were, and this is the result... a great album but still not Green Day.

  • @stpaulie Same with Nimrod, kinda. Actually Nimrod was the aftermath of Insomniac. I guess Green Day liked the way Insomniac sounded and decieded to do some songs that sounded they were off Isnomniac on Nimrod.

  • @KOlarT Green Day has always been "poppy" from the beginning

  • actually he does!...he plays on king for a day and on the grouch!..he is billies guitar tech so he has to go through all the guitars and make sure they are in tune anyway!

  • you asked bro!

  • lol XD

  • lol when you don't know something you ask.

  • stage hand

  • but... Shit damn great live especialllly geek stink one very sweet rhythm and riff

  • Yeah,and too slow.

  • severe lack of energy in this performance
