Pilate gave the Jews of the city the opportunity to have Jesus released and Barabbas punished to which they refused. A ceasefire that only stopped Israel from completing their elimination of hizbulla in exchange for an end to rocketfire under US pressure. In the USA conservatives believe in free market with minimum government oversight, lower taxes, and individual responsibility. Basically believe in the government that governs least, governs best. While USA liberals believe in a large government to address all the needs and reduce personal responsibility. Plus they believe in a greater control of the market place and reduce the ability of the individual to make personal decisions and take personal responsibility.

That may be true in other nations and was true when the United States was created by our Founding Fathers. However over the USA's 232 year history the definition of conservative and liberal have crossed paths and interchanged their definitions.
In the USA the current day conservative was the liberal of 1776, and the current day liberal was the conservative of the same era.

I was looking up info on the Achille Lauro hijacking of '85, when a reporter mentioned the Nahariya raid of '79(If you haven't before, check out Vanderbilt University's online television news archive-its a great source of info). Apparently PLO hijackers wanted Kuntar(& others)released in exchange for people on the ship. When the reporter mentioned the brutal death of that girl, it chilled me. What nonsense. Christians persecuted Jews for centuries (Spanish inquistion, Russian pogroms, French Dreyfus affair, etc). And the place where Jews found safe haven was in muslim countries from Algeria to Iran. Even today, 20% of Palestinians are Christian and live in peace with their Muslim neighbors.
