  • Proof that kids are becoming dumber with every generation.. People need a government agency to tell them that swallowing batteries is dangerous and it should be avoided...

  • Someone can tell me why the Anglo Saxons, the vast

Most have nails so short? It is a custom

hygiene? It is for convenience? Custom?

  • I'm pretty sure this small of a battery wouldn't do this to ham, I could be wrong though I haven't tested it.

  • Every girl can be a princess!

  • This is BS scare tactics. They might be into blackmailing manufacturers. The Ham shown is a fake. This cannot happen.

  • :47 lol

  • 0:50 HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @MrRedboy28 i think the battery cant get wet or bad things happen i think it burns

  • Who in there right minds(as a parent) would let there child suffer for three days jus to see if it does make a hole in the throat? Asfar as i can tell no child wud swallow that. How about this u swallow the bat and lets see what happens. You have til 2/09/2012. to prove it didnt choke u.

  • Cool! now where is that lil red headed step child?.....

  • You could say that about anything. Don't let children outside they might eat a rock then drink the river water!

  • unnecessary alarmist bullshit

  • seriously, anything that goes into your body via mouth will come out in about 18 hours, and its moving to different sections of your digestive track alot, its not going to have the chance to sit there and burn a hole. really, the danger would be if it where split open and the acid burnt through your intestines (unlikely considering your stomach acid is concentrated hydrochloric acid), this is merely propaganda, if you wanted to discuss danger youd consider that they might CHOKE on the battery...

  • I sometimes use my tongue to see if they still hold a charge. Wouldn't recommend doing this with a 9 volt battery, obviously :) Swallowing them is another matter entirely.

  • Can I just store my child between two pieces of ham?

  • Wow never thaught of that

  • ITS CALLED POPULATION CONTROL!!

SUM PARENTS SHOULD BE FORCED TO FEED THEIR EVIL SPAWN TO EAT BOWLS FULL OF THESE!!!!

  • Lithium batteries are safe and delicious.

  • Whats going to power those things then? Hopes and Dreams?

  • i think if he has a battery stuck in his esophagus for 3 days, there r bigger problems then a burn

  • Goes to show how our technology is being wasted.

  • All Your Battery Are Belong To Us...

  • nature selection.

  • @JorGGa Natural, not nature.

  • Maby ham just rotted faster in that area because of electricity .

  • I'm pretty sure the battery will go straight down to the stomach instead of sitting in the esophagus for a couple minutes. Anyway, there's a lot more around the house that a kid could swallow. How to keep him safe? Be a good parent and keep an eye on him, instead of bitching about how companies make their products.

  • out of wander, how would a child know know to dismantle a remote control when i have some troubles doing it myself cause the clap is stuck again... and seriously, seeing how much strength you put in the way you tore that birthday card, i just wonder how a 5 year old child, who doesn't know how electronics work, would go for the battery straight away, in its slot... consumer reports, the best way to take things out of its original context.

  • poor ham...

  • All the government wants to do is protect people. We're becoming a bunch of sissies. Shouldn't you know not to eat batteries!?

  • I think not even babies are stupid enough to eat batteries.

  • Every girl can be a princess!!

  • China....y u no make safer toys ??

  • so you are telling me that I shouldn't rip open electronic books and eat the electronics in them?

  • Omg..

  • very informative, but don't allow fucking moron parents to allow their less than gifted child to eat batteries.

  • I ate a CR2032 button cell battery when I was in 6th grade. I'm fine lol.

  • Ironic how they can't swallow real vitamins yet they can eat anything else!

  • That nice .

  • If they eat an battery they need to be killed .

  • @almouloudi What's wrong with you!?

  • 0:58 FUCK HAPPINESS.

  • fuck i hate those damn screws that they stick on almost anything.

  • What isn't dangerous these days. Should we keep our kids handcuffed in a secure padded room all day?

  • i sure wish my remote opened that easy , where do you live to have such easy remotes , mine i have to push it in then slide the tough clip then pull , and thats on every button cell remote i own

  • by the way when u lick button battery they taste like shit feels weird on toung

  • hahahahahahhahhahahahaaha

"every girl can beeeee a princess"

what a load of bs....what was it that george carlin said about kids not finding out that they're losers til they get fired from their first job? there are studies shown that conclusively prove that mothers take better care of the more attractive baby because (in their primate eyes) it has a greater chance of succeeding in life....where does the whole "every girl can be a princess" thing fit in?

  • @manifestgtr whoa, they just mean you can do whatever you want when you put your mind to it... that was just brutal

  • I'm astonished so many comments make light of the risk posed by these batteries. Whether their risks are high, or very small, it makes sense to keep these cells secure and out of harm's way. Regulations can prevent injury or worse. Good video, thanks.

  • om nom nom nom batteries and sweet sweet ham...

  • ok so your saying a helmet requires a Lithium Battery?

  • ohhhhh

  • Off the top of my head, I think that ham test is pretty inconclusive.

Deli ham is usually stored in a liquid with some kind of salt, to keep it longer and to give it flavor.

Salt in a water solution helps conduct electricity many times better than water alone, this likely skewed the results.

  • kids are just suicidal?>

  • iv eatin at least four button cell baterys my stomich was oon fire but iv ok for about 6 years

  • thanks....very much

  • i use li-po batteries for my rc cars, heli but i never overcharge them or shorcircuit it :o

  • @powerking230 I blow them up ._.

  • that is really cool, i wish those annoying little kids on my street ate those... they actually got into my locked car, shut the parking break and it hit my neighbor's living room, and somehow its my fault. i locked that god dam car.

  • @123Jus1 they key bumped

  • NOMNOMNOMNOM BATTERIES!

  • so you are saying a button cell sits in one spot for three days in the digestive tract?

  • @MrWildfire92 It was a demonstration. It would be worse in an actual digestive tract, given the nature of the digestive fluids. But if you're skeptical, why don't you try it out and let us know how it worked out for you.

  • keep an eye on your kids and what there doing all the time, beside if your kids like 5 or older and does this then there just dumb lol

  • Why is there a bike helmet? They don't use batteries as far as I know

  • this has to do with more than lithium batteries the should change the title, hey maybe they should make another video called, "Warning children swallow things"

  • Try charging that battery

    hehehe...

    Warning: May cause explosion!

  • All such products that are retarded just figure to be dangerous. They'er not needed.

So, unless you plan to endager the well-being of your kids. Stay away from "battery powered greeting cards and books".

    That is all. Thank you.

  • Drop it in water

  • @Tutorializer100 wont do anything.pure water does not conduct electricity. it wont make sparks

  • OMEG IM SO SCARED... im scared of the safety :/ ...get with the revolution.

  • We should make it illegal to posses a button battery in the presence of small children, and have HLS thru Boy and Girls Scouts enforce the law.

  • its people like you that make the world run slower than it already is..!!!!, soo much precaution seriously!! are humans really that scared of shit! start taking risks from time to time like honestly every1 that has actually made a change in this world has broken the rules and taken risks and ur fking scared of a freakin battery! what has the world come to now!

  • what if they eat the whole card?!

  • mmmm.....lithium

  • What chemical reaction is that? It makes what LOOKS like a char mark, but it didn't release enough heat for that because he had to let it sit for some time. I asume it's not really a burn, but rather a damaging electro-chemical reaction. Can someone explain just what the equation of the reaction is?

  • This "more than a dozen children" figure covers what period of time, exactly? Lithium batteries have been sold since the 1970's. Ingesting a battery isn't a good idea, of course, but there a lot more likely hazards to be worried about. More children are killed by choking on marbles, hard candy, coins, or other small objects. I think the solution to this problem is simply parenting.

  • i feel the same way as the kids whenever i get a musical greeting card i rip it open then eat the battery

  • @TheGamersLegit no but the hcl in your stomach will eat the casing then your bodies water will react to the lithium and then you are screwed

  • Omg the horror!! The best way to make sure that this never occurs is to make sure you never have kids :)

  • Fuck this is ridiculous. This over parenting crap is the reason children have no creativity or innovation in America.

  • I believe its the parents fault if anything happens to their child.

  • Fake! Sure...

  • SO WHAT YOUR SAYING IS IF I FEED MY SON A BUTTON CELL BATTERY, DONT GIVE HIM ANY HAM?

  • This is very scary, i believe that we should make anything that is harmful if swallowed illegal...

  • @j1mm80 That means making all life saving medications illegal (since all medications have a fatal dosage), along with electronic technology that can save lives. Also that would mean making your cell phone illegal since it contains a lithium-ion (or lithium-polymer) battery. Along with all household cleaning agents. The list goes on and on because everything can cause severe harm if used improperly or as a weapon.

  • @j1mm80 haha, are you serious?

  • @j1mm80 then everything would be dirty, bleach companies would go bankrupt!!! (umad?)

  • @silentsniper441 ever thing is dirty and without dirt there is no emune system

  • @marvindeshark "emune" sytem? fuckin dumbass.. IMMUNE

  • @j1mm80 They have a place like that, it's called a padded cell. Although wait, that'd probably be too dangerous cause if you chewed on the walls you might choke on the padding.

  • omfg

  • mmm...batteries

  • Darwinism imo.

    E

  • Thank you for this PSA.

I never thought about the dangers of these types of batteries before... especially around babies / children.

Now how do you baby proof those remotes?

  • @bimmersgarage i would improvise a screw system like in that electronic book

  • @bimmersgarage duck tape... or look for ones that are very hard to open
