  • I really love the actor of Mercutio.

  • kicked fus roh dah! 1:26 :P Romeo got beated down by Tybalt

  • and again... the black guy always dies

  • That movie is terrible.

  • Does anyone else think that tybalt is very attractive in this film! :D

  • One of the best scenes, but I think they should have kept some of the original script that they cut out. Mercutio had some awesome lines such as '''tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide as a church door; but 'tis enough,'twill serve. Ask for me tomorrow, and you shall find me a grave man.''

Oh well, still an awesome clip, thanks :D

  • I never understood why Tybalt looked so concerned for Mercutio. He just got beaten up by him (perhaps almost killed if it wasn't for Romeo intervening) so I don't know why he'd be sad to see him hurt. I thought perhaps he might have been worried he'd be in trouble for the death, but wouldn't he have gotten in the same amount as trouble for killing Romeo (I'm assuming he was asking Romeo to duel with him the scene before this?) Or am I just missing something here?

  • @poppypineapple1991

Tybalt's a macho and a show off: He likely intended to defeat and humiliate Romeo, but not to kill anyone. Remember, he's young and stupid. (A lot younger than Leguizamo really, a gorgeous Tybalt though he was). In the original context, duels were quite often supposed to be fought till first blood not till death - but of course this would often go wrong and so it does. Also, Mercutio's a kinsman of the prince so there goes any chance of leniency.

  • @zoth7 Oh that kind of makes sense. Like when he shot one of the Montagues at the beginning in the gas station, he shot to wound not to kill? Thanks anyway :-)

  • @poppypineapple1991 The thing is, Mercutio wasn't a Montague. He wasn't hated by the Capulet's like Romeo was. Mercutio was even invited to the party. I've always interpreted this scene to be a playful duel between them (Though this is not this director's interpretation). Mercutio wouldn't have died if Romeo hadn't gotten in the way. Tybalt wasn't trying to kill Mercutio, so he is obviously astounded that he did. Mercutio is also related to the Prince, which would make things harder.

  • @SuperBalletgirl101 I agree on your interpretation of this scene, My take is Tybalt attacked Romeo out of Spite by trying to restore the Capulets honor. Mercuito intervened because Romeo wasn't back & wanted to be civil seeing as he loved Juliet her family was his family in a sense.Tybalt killed Mercuito he knew it was a death sentence for him as the Prince said punishment was punishable by death for disturbing the streets.Tybalts intentions was to scare Romeo not kill him

  • WATCH MY VIDEOS GABVIGO

  • i love how actor who played Tybalt in this is also Sid the Sloth (Ice Age)

  • such an amazing scene! SO emotionally!

  • this is my favourite scene of any movie.

  • Either thou or I or both must go with him!

  • Leo... you are PERFECT!

  • Glad mercutio isn't dressed like a stripper here. Can't take thate fool seriously when he is dressed like a bitch.

  • @africandude1 HHAHAHA LOOOOOOL

  • lighting speed benvilo

  • If my school does a Romeo & Juliet play (which I am suggesting to my teacher) then I shall be playing Tybalt. ^_^ I'm the only one that can do that voice properly in my class :P

  • @PNuTButRJeLLy1812 Lies! Give me about 2 hours of viewing and tbh, don't work for you mwahaha.

  • Walt!

  • I've watched this so many times.

  • woooww....im a montague for my school play...

  • What kind of a badman is called Tybalt?

  • @TheMiP21 Well, sir, he is much more than the Prince of Cats! Aye, he is the courageous Captain of Compliments!

  • Tybalt is the coolest motherfucker ever to have existed

  • does somebody know the name of the song at 4:45? its awesome, but i forgot the name. would be really happy for a reply

  • @MrSasperman it means a curse

  • what does "a plaque on both your houses" mean?

  • @MrSasperman he curses their family i believe

  • @xxmrcoolmanxx oh thanks for that its part of my school test so cheers for that :)

  • liked the original Mercutio better.

  • this scene is so sad.

  • Hiya, I really need to know, what does Romeo say at 2:07?

  • @munkiemee I think its "Spare this outrage, good Mercutio!" I'm studying this scene :)

  • A SCRATCH

  • is mercutio hemophilic? how does he die from that so fast?

  • @GoldDove77 I was wondering the same thing.

  • John leguizamo is the BEST tybalt,

  • I was incredibly moved by Leo's and Harold's performances.

  • will be.. and will always be my favorite version is this play.

  • I want to capture 3:36 as a still image and make it into a poster... and hang it above my bed :)

  • either thou or i or both must go with him!

  • Mercutio = AWESOMENESS

  • I say it was Mer-Douche-ios fault, but Tybalt was pretty stupid too, they are the reason all the bad stuff happened

  • Lol A SCATCH

  • Tybalt is a complete bastard. I hate him.

  • tybalt is fit <3

  • oh hey I'm just gonna shove my head into the barrel of your gun and yell out, "if you don't die right now WE BOTH WILL," three times. God, what a stupid freaking movie.

  • @ifeelrelaxed A. No, you don't understand what he means. Romeo is saying, "somebody will die here today. It may be you, or me, or both of us." So right off the bat, you're misinterpreting the line.

    B. that doesn't change the stupidity of the scene; Romeo grabs a murderer's gun (one with a clear motive, no less), and shoves it right up against his own head and screaming "there's a possibility that I will die tonight."

    C. You're an idiot.

    D. Your name is a lie, because you're quite mad.

  • @ifeelrelaxed Ran out of space proving you wrong lol; and

    E. This film proves that Branaugh is the only man capable of adapting Shakespeare to film.

  • my favourite piece of film in the world

  • i always thought 5:17 looked like Final Fantasy 7.

  • @WastemanofOU me heart me some ff 7 XD

  • WAAAALT!

  • This helped me a lot wid my english controlled assessment ....cheers

  • Every time I watch this film I always cry at this part, to me this is one of the most meaningful and beautiful deaths I have ever seen. And that one line " a plague on both your houses" I just love it, he says it with such force and truth it just makes me feel how it must have felt to be caught up in the blunder of these two families

  • whats the name of the song in the background when mercutio finally death?

  • 3:26

Best line in the entire play.

  • Tybalt deserved it. You cant kill mercutio and get away with it. :(

  • My dreads were as long as Mercutio's the last time I watched this movie

  • I played Mercutio as well (though I'm a girl, we only had two boys in our group) XD

  • It's only a flesh wound...

  • I am mercutio in my school english production of it HOORAY

  • @VlogMan100 Mercutio is hands down one of the two most fun characters to play, the only other one being Tybalt.

  • Ask for me tomorrow and you shall find me a grave man!

  • A SCRATCH.

  • @MaibeTori What so do you speak like that in your day to day life?

  • One are they still talking like that in modern times?

  • @MrPatheticUsername no, but they wanted to use the original text, and spice it up with the modern setting

  • I played Tybalt for my school last year. Just to mess with the people who had to carry my "body" offstage, I died with my eyes open and DIDN'T BLINK.

  • @TheJake0fTrades

    That's badass.

  • 1:27 pause

  • aww i was hoping it would show from the part where tybalt calls mercutio romeo's consort.

  • Wow...

  • he really beats the sh!t out of Romeo :D

  • I wish they would speak properly

  • @JamezToonArmy they are speaking properly.

  • These 2 scenes are my favourite scenes.. <3

    Greatest movie.

  • This scene is THE reason I watch this film. Only reason actually, not a DiCaprio fan.

  • This movie is beautiful in so many ways. The soundtrack is amazing, acting is incredible and the imagery is stunning. I've watched it so many times :)

  • a plague on both your houses..awesome line

  • LMFAO ! A SCRATCH ! ( Throws Hand In Air)

  • @Emmy171717 LMAO!!! xD

  • i had to play mercutio in my high school play of romeo and juliet and i have to say that it was an amazing time. the raw energy and drastic change of emotion in the character made it incredibly difficult yet fun to bring to life on stage. i had such a great time portraying him. to be honest, i stole the show from the guy who was romeo XD

  • wow, both top comments are from the same dude, replying to the same dude.

  • @Gambit7Beyond I'm not really a dude, I'm a chick. haha :D

  • @TwistOfCain01 lol! but thats pure Ownage! :D

infact if this was in Mortal Kombat it would be a "Fatality!"

  • @Gambit7Beyond "Friendship!" *gives present* ^_^

  • Romeo...what a fucking pussy.... joke :D He did the right thing, shame it was too late

  • Romeo is such a little bitch xD

  • shut up sid

  • Dudes... If you ever get the chance of acting out this play. Play as Tybalt, he is the funnest to play. Trust me, I had a blast =) So fun.

  • If you uploaded it correctly so it wasn't squeezed, I might have fav'd it..... but... no fav for you lol

  • OH LOOK, I'M SOME FUCKIN RETARD WHO REFUSES TO ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT THE MOVIE, ARGUING WITH A BUNCH OF TWELVE YEAR OLDS, ACTIN' LIKE I'M BETTER THAN YOU. Jesus Christ, you guys need to chill and talk about the goddamn movie because you like it or hate it; not because you're trying to prove a point (that NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT) to a pre-pubescent twit on YouTube.

  • HOW CAN ANYONE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY.

  • I didn't know it, but they fucl this scene up.

  • How have these people not heard of Romeo and Juliet? It wasn't th ebest thing I've read, but it's sure a hell of alot better than all hose crappy "Paranormal Romance" novels they put out now. (Yes that is an actual category in a bookstore, strange.)

  • This was my favorite part of the whole play when i read it my freshman year.

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALT!

  • damn those kids and there fighting

  • Grand Theft Auto: Verona Love Story!!! XD

  • Such a stylish scene.

  • LOL the black guy always dies!!!!

  • @soccerboy965 In the story, Mercutio dies first. the actor just happened to be black. There are alot of comments like this. Just setting the record straight.

  • watched this in school

  • Tizz but a scratch, ay ay a scratch. A scratch! -gay pose-

  • @iiR3L0ADx it's not gay. It's bold faced triumph. If you had any class, you'd see beyond your Plebeian pun into it for what it really was.

  • since when do they speak like that in modern times

  • @weezer201590 It's a stylist choice necessary because changing the syntax language of the play would ruin half the poetic references and almost all of the humour.

In short: It's a play translated to film, not a fucking documentary, you halfwit.

  • @weezer201590 The Idea of the movie was to put shakespeare's play in modern times.... It wouldn't be much of a recreation if they didn't use the language...

  • As always the black guy dies first

  • I remember seeing this movie in English class back in high school. I hated it

  • i dont under stand why there talking as if if they were in middle ages but they are not

  • @badassdude001 they are talking like that because they using some if not the same lines as the older movie and they are just updating the play to the modern day romeo and juliet.

  • DiCaprio's always perfect when he has to be either sad or crazy pissed off. Those emotions are really his thing.

  • God this is the most epic version of Romeo and Juliet XD

  • in class when we were reading romeo and juliet, i had made a weird snort/laugh when mercutio says "ask for me tomorrow and you shall find me a grave man" just cuz

  • Benevolio: Art thou hurt?

Mercutio: aye, aye, a scrath, a scrath. (Stands up) A SCRATCH!!!! (Tada!)

  • A plague o' both your houses!

  • yay doing GCSE on this..........

  • yay doing GCSE o this tomorro

  • What song is this?

  • A plague.... on both your - WAAAAAALLLLLTTT!!!!!

  • why kind of friend who leaves his dead friend's body laying there

  • what is this shit

  • Man, you kill Mercutio and he summons a hurricane to kill y'all. This is the true lesson to be learnt from this play.

  • Shakespeare is and always will be the the best writer of all time. And seeing a modern adaption is a perfect way to show his influence on litrature and film...

  • holy shit, tybalt is sexy

  • i played tybalt in romeo and juliet, and he is amazing. I think the play should have been called "Romeo, Juliet and Tybalt" (:

  • @theCOMM3NT3R I had to do a character analysis on Benvolio, and now I think it should be called "Romeo, Juliet, and Benvolio." It's weird how much you love the characters you have to get close too. Shakespeare is beast.

  • I got pissed at this part because in my highschool play I was Tybalt and some douche playing romeo killed me -_-"

  • THEY'VE MADE WORMS MEAT OF ME!!!!

  • LMAO ok how he just said it was a scratch and then turned around and showed his face of pain was kinda funny!!

  • 2 of greatest acts in history. Well done Di Caprio and Perrineau.

  • Mercutio kicked tybalts ass but got shanked, cuz romeo ineterfered

  • @imjustsayin615 I don't care whether you give a shit about Shakespeare, but you've pissed off about three or four people here, been slated about five times, and you're still so sad and unaware of how much of an ignorant prick you're being that you just keep giving lip. Grow up and shut up, we'd be really grateful.

  • I loved this movie.

  • lmfaooo its just a SCRATCH

  • does anyone else see michael jackson at 2:40??

  • 5:52 pure emotion

  • YO HOUSES YOU HOUSES YOU HOUSES YO HOUSES YOU HOUSES YO HOUSES YOU HOUSES YOU HOUSES YO HOUSES YOU HOUSESYO HOUSES YOU HOUSES YOU HOUSES YO HOUSES YOU HOUSESYO HOUSES YOU HOUSES YOU HOUSES YO HOUSES YOU HOUSES

  • always been one of the best actors love Leonardo DiCaprio!!!!

  • And thus ends one of the greatest bromances

  • @imjustsayin615 Dude, that's called acting. Grow up.

  • @imjustsayin615 I'm already grown. You saying "LOL hes so gay bahahaha" goes to show that you are just an immature little girl that doesn't appreciate nor could possibly understand the plot and dialogue in this film with your puny, undeveloped brain.

Go play with your barbie dolls.

  • @TwistOfCain01 you just watched the movie, i actually read the book. which shows im a lot more mature than you and undertstand it more than you. no one gives a shit about romeo and juliet. it was a horrible book/movie. and really..."puny undeveloped brain" ??? wtf? man you need to get better come backs that just makes you sound like a dumbass. and barbie dolls just makes you sound gay. which im sure you are considering you actually take this movie seriously. fuck you

  • @imjustsayin615 "I actually read the book." It isn't a book dipshit, it's a PLAY. Anyone who actually read it, would know the difference. You only think it's horrible because you do not understand it at all.

Keep trying to outsmart me and I will effortlessly beat you, yet again. Go ahead.

  • @imjustsayin615 seeing as you 'love taylor swift', and hate romeo and juliet, im wondering why you've randomly looked up "Death of Mercutio", and commented that hey looked gay. im confused.

  • @imjustsayin615 I don't see how reading something which someone else hasn't read makes you more mature than that person. Maybe you can explain that to me. You clearly don't even know what mature means. Romeo and Juliet is one of the greatest tragedy plays ever written by the great shakespeare. Don't group everyone with your uneducated piece of bieber rebecca black lovin shithead of a brain.

  • @TwistOfCain01 and your self righteous "I'm so cool because I'm an intellectual and love Shakespeare" response was just as stupid.

Appreciate and understand the plot and dialogue? This film is a contemporary cut down adaption of a history piece so idiots like your apparent self can grasp the basics of the plot. Wow you're so smart for getting the most straight forward version of Romeo and Juliet ever.

  • @ShaunGooProductions Whatever you say, toots. ;)

  • @TwistOfCain01 amen brotha

  • @TwistOfCain01 turn and draw tyabalt is the most awesome medieval role to play but his gun if anyone cares to notice guns is beast

  • @imjustsayin615 grow up? see how you have no thumbs up?

  • @imjustsayin615 I like the movie. I can't possibly see how calling someone gay is an offense. Being gay is awsome. I quite enjoy it. X3
