  • i love it

  • appreciatin the constructive critique. :-)

  • she did well! just remind her to loosen up! it helps with the nerves. much potential to grow on. diggin the background and the outfit.

  • this is her first solo??? WOW< that energy was amazing! Very well done, lady!

  • I found this totally spellbinding and captivating to watch. A natural energy, grace and confidence that comes out in this performance, if this is her first, solo gig, I so look forward to more from her!! Well done and thanx for sharing....

  • @EmeraldGemstar09 > Shukran for your encouraging comments.

  • i like the song, i think it's Godsmack??? maybe idk

  • I loved your outfit! It's really lovely, and you didn't feel the need to expose every piece of skin you own. I could sense you were nervous, which is ok, being your 1st performance. It felt rushed though, slow down, and remember to enjoy it as well. I applaud your ability to keep going with the flow after a mistake. Very Important! Never rush off the stage, girl! Take in the crowd. They applaud for you!!! Keep practicing your art, I would love to see more of you in the future. ;)

  • Thank you, Gnomosome, for setting an excellent example of how to constructively critique a dance performance.

  • Snaps for you girl getting up and dancing your lil' heart out!. A bit of constuctive criticism - a solo performance has got to have 'light' and 'shade', otherwise it just looks like you're dancing at the one pace, which to me this performance does... I can't see much differentiation between slow and fast. Don't get me wrong, I learned this way too! To me, 'Gothic Fusion' has to have that element of that slow, theatrical style of movement.

Good on ya gal for dancing from your heart! :-)

  • @Gnomosome Thanks for the constructive criticism. I learned something from it. I watched the dance and couldn't figure out what was the missing element. Now I understand. Plus, I also note that the moves require more use of the muscle as opposed to the just the body itself. That way the dance has more energy and will look alive. It does take guts to go up on stage and I do want to give my congrats to the dancer for taking the courage to go up there and giving it her all.

  • She's a bit...It seemed like she needed another song than this one. She didn't really go with it.

  • Calculated

    Controlled

    Earthmen you are helpless

    Sometimes simple techinique is best.

  • to much motion not enuff in the hips and arms not really moving with the motion of the song but you look nervous just practice some more and have fun with it ^_^feel the music.

  • i especially loved the transition in the very beginning. :) really awsome

  • Good job! Might I suggest a different fabric for the vail because that one didn't flow too well. Use something more like silk, or maybe chiffon. Chiffon will give you a nicer flowing fabric and it's still transparent if that's the look you're going for.

  • wow shes very fast, needs to slow down but shes got potential!

  • Meira looks lovely as always. 5 minutes is a long time to be on stage. SCARY! Personally, I would have cut this song down to 3ish. Ya, her arms need to slow up and finish her movements, but I really like the lower undulations. They work well with the low bass in the song. Hope I get to see her dance at Muddslide this year. Its really inspiring to see other dancer's progression. See you there too, Inanna!

  • I think she needs to relax her upper body a little bit, especially her shoulder area

  • I think she did great! Wonderful veil work. I understand about getting nervous. It can be hard to get out there and dance for 5 min all alone.

  • I LOVE THIS! I even saw wordplay in there, love it! This is the way I dance when I put on the Sirius and rock out in my living room. I am a fan of a faster pace, and lots of hard beats, Keep on Girl!

  • Too much going on with the scarf.

  • I just wanna let you know..I have peformed to that song, it's one of my all time favorite songs, when I was first starting out too and I did much WORSE then you..lol trust me..stage fright is a hard thing to fight, to this day I have issues!

But it has nothing to do with being a dam good dancer:)

  • I'm goin to have to agree with everyone else the arms are really sloppy and it seems like you were really nervous. Maybe that's the reason for the bad arms. But you have potential.

  • I love the song.

But like most said, the dancer needs to slow down. Especially when it comes to arms movement, they are way too fast and do not look all that gracious or even snake like.

Not sure about the veil either.

Like someone said, I agree that her teacher should have helped her to basically slow down and concentrate on the movements.

  • love the song! I would agree that everything looks a little rushed together... I would suggest if you're going to use choreography, leave some more space between moves so you can really focus on letting them flow with the music. That way you don't have to force them into the song...

  • she needs to slow everything down a bit its far to intense and fast . the girl has potential and has the moves but please slow it down you certainley have it theres no doubt about that put the brakes on

  • wow.... i'm impressed cuz i can't do belly rolls for my life..yet... anyway she could work on a bit more moves.

  • There seems to be a real disconnect with the movements and the music. The dancer obviously needs more practice with isolations, layering and posture. She's not taking the time with each movement and isn't gronded at all. Transistions between movements are sloppy.

There's a lot of potential there though...I'd credit a lot of the rushing and sloppiness with lack of experience and nerves...all things that are amended with more and more practice and performance.

  • Ooops. *smiles* I should read the video description before commenting...

It was the dancers first performance!

Lots of potential to grow on!

  • She was so nervous, she forgot her choreography. For her first time out, I think she covered well. Improvisation is a difficult art.

  • Yes it is...

It's really hard to get up in front of everyone that first time...your heart goes a million times a minute!

  • interesting song choice but for it I would have expected some slower moves...more intensity. good start though.

  • actually I don't see the BELLY dance

    I just see ARMS dance

  • Very good :) Godsmack rocks :)

  • I've seen this done by a group from Pennsylvania and they used candles and it was awesome.. as for this video not so much.. maybe her teacher should have helped her with her choreography

  • not feeling it

  • Who do you think is not feeling it? You or the dancer?

  • I agree. It's good, but there's too much arm motion and not enough complete body motion.

  • Agree with you totally (also with ChloeJune666's comments). She needs to stay in one place longer and concentrate on the music rather than expend too much energy on arm-waving etc. (And take a lesson from the amazing Sashi, who is the queen of this genre.) Perfect figure for this type of dance though! :-)

  • OOO! I love Sashi. She's so beautiful.

  • I'm bummed i didn't think of it first.

  • i love this song!!! nice!

  • Really good, intense and yet light and flowing.

    THanks

  • I think was well put together.. you put a little too much energy into it... try meditating while listening to the song and then when your are relaxed and you can feel the music running throughout your body then dance to it... other than that you did a good job keep it up :)

  • I did this song using fire holders at the Atlanta Shimmy-A-Thon in October 2006. It was wonderful. Great bellydancing song. I wish I had mine on a DVD. :(

Great job. Its nice to see a different perspective of the song. :)

  • "Voodoo" by Godsmack

  • I love it!!!

    beautiful...

    what song is this?

  • she needs to put in more traditional stuff into it. i know it's gothic fusion, but it's still bellydance, and i think that she needs to put the "belly" part into it

  • XDDD yay i'm not weird for bellydancing to this song! haha that's awsome!

  • Very atmospheric! All the elements work well together... music, costume, background, choreography, and of course Meira's graceful stage presence. Nicely integrated, beautiful. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • In the interest of a constructive conversation, can you define what you mean by "stupid"? :-)

  • im sori but the song intro is just a lil stupid otherwise very cool

  • ooo i love this song ;)
