They are not hypnotized or in a trance at all. Putting rabbits in a trance is not good for them. Its a state a fear. They go into this state when they're trying to "play dead" for a predator. The predator wont have a hard grip on his prey because he thinks its dead, this gives the bunny a better chance to escape. please do not do this to your bunnies. It stresses them out, it doesnt relax them.
it is dangerous, their heart rate speeds up and they can have a heart attack. They do this in the wild if they have been attacked; they play dead. Seriously wouldn't do this to your buns.
@BexsLuvsMen As i have said. It is not dangerous. It actually calms them down and slows their heartbeat. Come back to me when you have been a rabbit breeder for years and actually know some facts.
@makebelieve1988 ive had rabbits all my life, i have a triantha houserabbit who i absolutely adore. but i would never turn her on her back like that because its causes breathing problems, and there is a danger that she might panic and kick her back legs, potentially breaking her back. it is a completely unnatural position for a rabbit, and if it was truely relaxing for them they would do it themselves wouldnt they (and they dont).
@makebelieve1988 They are uncomfortable and continued use of this can lead to loss of breath and heart attacks. Whiich can kill them. Soooo Yeah, Its dangerous.
I remember holding a neighbors bunny like a baby, on his back, and I was stroking his ears and tummy and he was in such complete bliss, when ever there was a noise he would pop his head up but otherwise he was just falling asleep, was so cute i fell in love with bunnies ever since.
OMG!!! that is cute and I can do it with my bunny too! He is a bit more little and I have to hold him tighter but it is soo cool how you can do that!!!
